Hawk Wargames at UK Games Expo 2017

UK Games Expo is upon us and this year's show is shaping up to be one of our biggest and most feature packed yet. Here are some of the exciting highlights we have in store:
The Hawk Wargames booth (C6): Here you'll have access to our full range, new show only miniatures, exclusive deals and never before seen upcoming designs. It's a great chance to demo Dropfleet Commander, a SciFi orbital combat game, and Dropzone Commander, for massed battles in towering cityscapes. We'll also be running a mega participation game at the end of each day, showcasing how both systems can be combined for epic inter-orbital combat!
HWG Newsletter02
- Hobby activities: The booth will feature live painting demos, hobby guides and our free Space Station Builder Competition, where attendees can get to grips with this exciting new modular kit. Prizes for the best creations are up for grabs!
HWG Newsletter03
- The last flight of the Avenger: This may be the last ever UK public appearance of our famous 3m long 10mm scale Strike Carrier, the UCMS Avenger. The (frankly insane) model will be in pride of place on the booth, resplendent with lighting and backlit schematic - so don't miss it!
- The first official Dropfleet Commander Tournament: On Saturday, take part a tournament for our brand new game, or simply watch as the carnage unfolds! We'll also be running a Dropzone Commander tournament on Friday. Find out more...
- How to Make Miniatures Seminar: Learn how we design and manufacture our miniatures from concept through to mass production. Field your questions to David Lewis, Hawk's lead designer and company director (Saturday, 12-1pm, NEC Toute Suite)
This newsletter is sent to you by UK Games Expo on behalf of Hawk Wargames who has sponsored and provided this content to inform you about themselves and their plans for their stand at UK Games Expo.

Hawk Wargames Newsletter

A slightly late March newsletter from Hawk Wargames...

Newsletter #45 - 31/03/2017
Welcome to the March Hawk Wargames Newsletter - we have a few key things to share with you that are coming up too!
1) The Hawk Wargames site
As many of you saw from our previous update, we have relaunched the site, and are generally really happy with the look and usability of it. But we are always open to hear what you think, and what you would like to see - email us or contact us through our social media accounts with any comments or suggestions you have to make it better for you.
Over the last few weeks we have had a very high amount of orders, so if you are currently waiting on yours, it is currently being processed, and will be with you soon.
2) Direct Only Sculpt
The Saratoga will continue to be available to order on the site until Friday 21st of April. The Direct only sculpt will then be available at a few select shows after this date. The highly detailed resin UCM Saratoga class Light Cruiser is an alternate sculpt for the popular New Cairo class Light Cruiser.
3) Last day of the Re-Launch Show Only Sale
We have a range of show only models which are available from our site until the end of 31st March. These include:
  • The Aegaeon - Show only Model 16/17 (Neptune Varient)
  • The Double Decker Battle Bus - Show only Model 15/16
  • Shackleton Escape Pod - Show only Model 14/15

Hawk Wargames Newsletter

A new newsletter from Hawk Wargames...

Newsletter #44 - 24/02/2017
Welcome to the first Hawk Wargames Newsletter of 2017 - its been a while, but we have a lot to share with you over the upcoming months!
1) The brand new Hawk Wargames Website is now live.
The new site now includes the full range of Dropfleet Commander products, available direct from Hawk Wargames for the first time. In addition, the full Dropzone Commander range is also available within this new site format.
In order to best process the first wave of orders, we will be opening the site with around a 1 week pre-order period on Dropfleet Commander products before we start shipping (orders containing Dropfleet Commander products will be shipping from March 3rd onwards). These will be processed and shipped on a first come, first served basis.  As we have done previously, all orders over £100 will ship free worldwide by couriered delivery.
2) Direct Only Sculpt
Here's a glimpse of the model that's coming...
To celebrate the launch of the new website, Dave is designing an exclusive Dropfleet miniature which will be available for a limited time online only. This highly detailed resin ship is the UCM Saratoga class Light Cruiser, an alternate sculpt for the popular New Cairo class Light Cruiser. It will be available exclusively on our website soon, and will make an appearance on sale at Salute 2017.
3) Website Re-Launch
For those of you who are wondering, this launch had been intentionally delayed due to crossover of staff also working on Kickstarter fulfilment and moreso, that we felt it right to ship all the pledges we had on record before completing the website and taking more direct orders. Now that wave 1 of Kickstarter shipping is complete (except for chasing missing parcels) we can focus on moving forward and providing the content and support that Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander players need.
This all new site has been completely recoded from the ground up and has been designed as a much improved platform for delivering content and support. The windows on the homepage will in due course feature information on upcoming tournaments and events, rules updates, multimedia content and downloads for both systems.
To start things off, we've been releasing the Building the Avenger video series, which will run for a full 20 episodes. In addition, expect to see new content for gamers and hobbyists on a regular basis in future. We are currently working on a range of exiting developments for our players - keep an eye out here for updates in the very near future!
4) Video Series
5) Some Upcoming Events
We have a range of upcoming events over the next few months where we would love to see as many of you as we can:
- Hammerhead (UK) - 4th March - & Demo Table
- Adepticon (USA) - 23rd-26th March - & Tournament
- Salute 2017 (London, UK) - 22nd April - & Demo Tables
- Carronade (Falkirk, UK) - 13th May - & Demo Tables
We hope you all enjoy the new website and that you're enjoying the games!

Hawk Wargames Newsletter

Some Dropzone and Dropfleet commander news from Hawk Wargames...

Newsletter #43 - 05/08/2016
Welcome to the Hawk Wargames Newsletter
1) Gen Con 2016
We’re excited to once again be attending Gen Con this year, this week and weekend in fact, and are looking forward to showing off all our new work and up-coming releases. There will be members of the Hawk Wargames Team on hand to answer questions about Reconquest: Phase 2, our new releases, and Dropfleet Commander. Gen Con 2016 runs from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th August in Indianapolis, Indiana, and we look forward to seeing you there!
We are located at Stand 2113. Click here for a Gen Con 2016 Map >
2) Reconquest: Phase 2
We will have our brand new rulebook, Reconquest: Phase 2 available at Gen Con! This book goes out on general sale this weekend (6th August). This expansion book includes rules for the last few waves of models that previously experimental rules online, as well as new Famous Commanders and scenarios. A key new feature of this book are rules for playing environmental games along with specific environmental scenarios for Dropzone Commander. Reconquest: Phase 2 also reveals some of the dangerous and exotic Fauna that are seen in the Reconquest, that can interact with your games of Dropzone Commander...
Order your copy from your FLGS or from the Hawk Wargames site >
The Reconquest's progression as it enters its second phase
Environmentals and Fauna that affect your games
A new Famous Commander for each faction
All the finalised rules for a range of recently released units
3) Dropfleet Commander at Gen Con
While we will be running demonstration games and talking about Dropfleet Commander, we will not have Dropfleet Commander products to sell. This is because, as we have always maintained, our aim is to fulfil the rewards for our Kickstarter Backers before the game goes on general release, and we are strongly committed to this. We are aware of the huge level of backing and support that so many of you have given us since the game was initially announced. We will be offering intro games, and also have the full painted studio range for Dropfleet Commander on display. David J Lewis and our playtesters will also be on hand to talk about the game and answer any questions you may have.

4) What else do we have at Gen Con 2016
As well as Reconquest: Phase 2, a selection of new blisters, and the full range of Dropzone Commander, we also have our show only models for this year. We have also created civilian vehicles, which can be bought in a variety of packs. But first of all...
The PHR Aegaeon Dropship – Hawk Wargames Show Only Model
Our Show Only Model for this year is an alternative sculpt for the PHR Neptune Medium Dropship, and has the same rules as this unit, (so the Aegaeon can be used in Tournament games). Come by the Hawk Wargames stand (#2113) to get your hands on one.
The Civilian Vehicle Packs
The Civilian Vehicles offer a selection of Cars, Trucks, Lorries and Busses to use as scenery or for scenarios within your Dropzone Commander games. The Civilian Vehicles come in 3 pack options:
  • Cars and Trucks Pack – 6 Cars and 2 Trucks
  • Lorries and Busses Pack – 2 Lorries with Trailers, and 2 Busses
  • The Mega Civilian Vehicle Pack – 52 vehicles (including Lorries, Busses, Cars and Trucks)
Come by the Hawk Wargames stand (#2113) to get yours.
5) The Limited Online availability of Show Only
The show only models will be making a very brief appearance online after Gen Con 2016 this year, to allow all those who cannot make it to shows we attend or those who just miss out, to buy a show only model. We may even be putting up a limited number of previous years show only models (as we have had a lot of requests to do so due to people missing out, or not being able to make it to shows). Another update will go out on social media about this as soon as these units go up on the site.
6) Updates on Dropfleet Commander
As was shared recently by one of our proactive Talons, we are indeed planning to send out the majority of the pledges soon, and are just waiting on a few printed items but are currently packing pledges to the best of our ability until these arrive. The Scourge Space Station add-on packs will be shipped at a later date (from the rest of the pledges and just those kits) due to these falling a little bit behind on schedule. We don't want to hold the rest of the pledges or the majority of the contents of the pledges for this one item.
We will have another update and progress report on packing soon, and come back with further details of shipping very soon.

Thanks a lot, and we look forward to seeing many of you at the show over the next few days, afterwards in the UK in Cardiff on the 20th August, or at Autumn Invasion 2016, which is building up to be a fantastic Tournament. (Tickets for Autumn Invasion 2016 can be purchased here)
Kind regards
The Hawk Wargames Team
