Memories in Tyme -Father's Day Blog Hop

Welcome to the Memories in Tyme blog hops - where you will find some seriously talented people who love to share their ideas with you! Our hop today and is anything relating to Dads - doesn’t matter if it is a layout, card, mini album, or decorating item, if it’s about DAD…it’ll be here!!! With Fathers Day around the corner - take the time to make Dad feel just as special as Mom feels on her special day - by making him something from your heart!

Now, if you just happened upon my blog, then please go back to the beginning which is at Lynda’s blog (http://memoriesintyme.com/). Besides, the beginning is always the best anyway!!!

Let’s get started with the ideas -

For my projects today I would like to share some Father's Day cards I have made using Iris Folding. I started taking some classes last year at my local LSS. I really liked that the teacher used the Cricut for a lot of her files. If you cannot find a class there are a lot of great books on Iris folding that you can learn from. I like the way it looks and it is fun to combine with my Cricut and an easy take a long project when I am going somewhere.

This is the card I made in class last year.
These are the two cards I made this year.

This one is for my husband.

This is the inside. Stamp from my stash.
This one I made for my son in law.  He is always helping me with projects.
The little screws are brads.
Letters from Tim Holtz

"Warming Up with Hot Cocoa FCCB January 2

So hard to believe Christmas is over and it is already 2012. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and you're ready for a Crafty 2012 with Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.
This week the challenge is "Warm Up With Hot Cocoa".
I actually made two cards using my new Iris Folding skills.  I have been taking monthly classes at my LSS.  One of the reasons I decided to try the classes is that the teacher told me I could use my Cricut to cut the shapes out. In November she showed us how to take shapes of our own choosing and make the designs.
This cut is the cup from Joys of the Season cut at 2 1/2 inches. did this one in silver, gray, red, shiny red and black and white polka dot.  I use thin scrap paper, Origami paper and foil and florist foil.  The center is cut from gift bags I get at the 99cent store.  The stamps I used are both from Robins new stamp sets.
Closeup
This one I did in blue, greens, and purples and another of Robins stamps.
I definitely enjoy making these.  It is a lot of fun.  You can buy books or look up directions online for Iris folding.
So enough of my project.  Are you ready to join us for the challenge?  I hope you will jump right in and join us for the first challenge of 2012.  I can't wait to see what you make.

I am posting this at Bugbites .She is having a challenge to welcome in the New Year and the anniversary of her blog.  The challenge is to make a project inspired by her banner.  The banner has a lot of blue and green so I thought this would fit the challenge.

Iris folding class at LSS- Apron and moustache

I took my second Iris Folding class at my local scrapbook store last weekend.  The two cards we made are for Grandparents day in September.  I am really enjoying taking these classes.  Many of the patterns the teacher uses are from Cricut so that makes it really handy.  Like this Apron is From My Kitchen. The fun things is the supplies are minimal so you can put your scissors, tape, paper pieces and template in a bag and take it with you.  Here is the link to the Christmas Cards I made at my first class.  I  have  ordered several books with patterns and directions.  There are also sites and patterns online.

Iris folding class at LSS

On Saturday morning I was able to go to the Iris Folding Class at my local LSS.  I have been wanting to try this and really enjoyed it.  I made 5 cards in the 3 hours.  The teacher uses her Design Studio to make the shapes and cut out the words.  It is a lot of fun and really not hard if you can follow numbers.   After that I went to visit new grandbaby,  We were able to bring everyone home from hospital that afternoon.  I am staying with them for about 5 days to help.  Trying to help with baby and keep 18 month old occupied. LOL
