I bought a kit by Recollections, a Mixed Media Box. I thought it was super cute, and looked like a fun project. It is vintage style, and had a lot of possibilities. So, I decided to make it and add a few things to it.
Most of the embellishments came in the kit, and as a matter of fact, I didn't use them all! I had quite a few bits and pieces leftover.
I just left the box the kraft color it is, and wrapped the outside of it with some burlap and lace "ribbon". I added bottles, a spider and pumpkin by Tim Holtz, and some candy 3D stickers by Jolees.
It came out cute.
I am sensing a theme...looks like this year I am into the vintage style decorations. I wonder where this is going to lead...
Stay scary, my friends!

A Box for Mommy
Welcome to the Just a Few Friends Mother's Day Blog Hop!!!
We are soooooooo glad that you prowled on over to see our purrfectly created projects! We have all been tearing up our dens in the creation of our box themed goodies, and we hope that you like them! If you have not started from the beginning, please start with Elsa's Den. If you have been pouncing along the blog hop, you should have come to my den from RJ's Den. I have a list of all of our participants at the end of the post. Now, on to the fun I have created for your viewing pleasure.
I have a video on YouTube also, please go and check it out!
I used Petaloo flowers. The metal flowers and the metal butterfly were from a bulk bin at the craft store. My BFF, Jackie, gave me the spray in a grab bag of flowers and ribbons. The brads on the spine and in the metal flowers are by The Girls Paperie.
I painted the box and the inside boxes with brown paint. Then I adhered the papers in the back of the boxes. I remmed one section to make a space to house a mini album. I used the "Never Ending" book style that I have done several times in the past, and used a simple ribbon "belly band" for the closure.
I added a few embellishments in the boxes, but didn't want to over fill them because I thought the paper was so pretty, I didn't want to cover it up. I added a glitter filled bottle, a flower, a key and wooden butterfly, a metal bird and quote, and some lace that looked to me like a doily on a shelf.
A top view of the mini album and its pages.
This is the first cover page opened...
...Then the right page opened again. I used some leftover card stock to create a pocket for tags.
The "back" page opens to reveal a belly band type holder that I created to hold a trifold mini pull out.
Each side has 4x6 mats to hold more pictures.
When you open the page with the mini pullout, you get this layout. I added a flap that I punched with a Martha Stewart Edge punch. The pink paper behind it shows off the pattern.
This is the "middle section of the mini album. I made a slit type pocket to house two more tags.
I sure hope you liked my project. It was so much fun to put together. Now please pounce on over to Sherain's Den and see what she has come up with, I know you are going to like it!

Dollar Store Configurations Box
First of all, I just wanted to say that I am working on finishing the mini paper bag book that I posted the tutorial for on Wednesday. I decided to use leftovers from my Counterfeit Kit Challenge kits for the months of February, March and April. That will be posted soon, and I think it is turning out CUTE!
For todays post...I just want to start off with the fact that I love the Configurations Boxes from Tim Holtz. I used some to make this...
I collect thimbles and I ran out of room in my other thimble display case. I saw this box set and knew it would be perfect ford showcasing some of my favorite thimbles. I used K and Co. papers, with Tim Holtz tissue tape and corners. I used a 7 Gypsies door knob also.
Then, the other day I was in the local dollar store looking for a plastic platter and I found these...
And guess what my brain said!
I used the bottoms of the boxes, because they had a deeper side, stuck them together with score-tape, inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, and covered them with the same papers from K and Co. I used some Prima ribbon around the edge.
I covered the back with papers, even though no one will see it. The boxes themselves were a little flimsy, but once covered and wrapped with ribbon, they were pretty sturdy!
I had some vintage die cuts from K and Co. so I gathered up some and went to town! I used pop dots and foam tape to add dimension to some of the pieces.
I had a K and Co. metal frame that I used to frame a butterfly paper scrap. The picture was cut out of some paper, and I used dimensional glaze to go over the "frame" of the paper, then added a cardstock easel on the back to get it to stand up like a photo frame.
I was thinking of all sorts of ideas with these little jewelry boxes. I still have the tops of the boxes to do something with. What could you come up with?
Stay Crafty!!
