A Recipe Junk Journal You Have To See!

I have been wanting to make one of these for a very long time!  I bought this recipe book solely for this purpose, but truth be known, I actually have a copy of it in my recipe collection too!

I used a bunch of random bits and pieces I have had in my stash for a while, and combined them with items that are newer from Country Craft Creations and from Your Creative Studio.

More mini junk journals!

I made some more junk journals and wanted to share.

I had inspiration from Cori Dahmen who did a great tutorial on a hidden binding, and I had to try it.     That video is here.

I also used a lot of goodness from a collection from Your Creative Studio.  That site is here.

I did two books in this tutorial, one is from policy envelopes and one is made from a mini composition book.  I hand dyed my papers with coffee, and the tutorial I used for that is here.

Thanks for watching, and stay crafty.

Chicken Wire Picture Display

I was at Tuesday Morning and found a 12x12" chicken wire square.  I brought it home, thinking that I would do something with it...and I did.
I had a frame, and decided on these papers from Graphic 45, and in about 30 minutes created this project.
I love how it turned out!  It will look great with a few awesome pictures to adorn it.

I love shopping and finding treasures!

Here is a complete list of the items that I used:

Frame:  K & Co.
Papers:  Graphic 45 "Communique"
Flowers:  Prima
Bling: Eyelet Outlet
Clothes Pins:  Recollections

Here's the best part.  I had all of the supplies except for the chicken wire in my stash.  You just HAVE to have a stash and when the inspiration strikes, you can make beautiful things.  That's what I tell my hubby!!

Mini Mailbox

I saw a mailbox made by In My Blue Room Designs, and remembered I had something similar in my stash. She inspired me so much that I had to make one for myself.

I don't remember where I got the mailbox, or how long I've had it.  The pedestal it is on is a ribbon holder that I got quite a while ago as well.  I used to store my Washi tape on them (I have several) until my stash outgrew my holders.  I used Graphic 45 papers Sweet Sentiments papers.  I also used lace from my stash.  The brad holding the flag on is by The Girls Paperie.
I had the metal butterfly from Michael's, and bling by Recollections.

I used a variety of flowers for the base of the pedestal, including 7 Gypsies leaves, and flowers from Prima, Petaloo, and Recollections.

Thanks for looking.  I hope you liked this idea.

Frame Swap

For the month of September, our group had a frame swap.  We were supposed to alter a frame in the style that our partner wanted, no other real rules.  I had the honor of creating this frame for my Pride Sister, Margaret!!  I asked her if there were any requests, and she said that she just wanted me to do what ever I wanted.  So.....here is what I did.  I did know that her favorite color is green.  I worked the frame around this beautiful paper I found.  I had sooo much fun making it, but I was sooo stressed out because I was really worried if she would like it or not!

I found this clothes line shadow box frame at Craft Warehouse.  I used two wooden mini candlesticks for "feet" and glued them.  then I painted the whole thing. The paper is by Crate Paper, the die cuts are by Dear Lizzy.  The Flowers are by Kaiser Craft, the Camera by Studio Calico.  The butterfly and the bling are on the outside of the glass on the frame, everything else is inside...I was going for more of the 3D effect.

My Pride Sister, Sherence, was making my frame, and I got it TODAY!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!  She totally made a beautiful frame in my one of my favorite color schemes, black and red!   I know the picture that is going in it.  I have a picture of my son when he was about 2 years old, and this color scheme perfectly fits the room that the picture is in.  How did she know???

Altered Book Vase

I have seen the altered book vases all over, and decided to try it.  I had the insides of the book that I made (you can see it here) and thought it would be perfect for my scrap/craft room!  I freehanded the vase shape on chipboard, then cut out the pages with an exact knife.  My hand hurt so bad after I did this...it was a thick book!  But, here are the results and I think it turned out kinda cute!

A "New" Desk File

Hi all!  Ok, I am still working on the tutorial for the new paper bag mini that I came up with.  I am hoping to get it done for you by the end of the weekend.  Sorry for the delay!  I hate it when I tell you all that I am going to post something, and then life gets in the way from me doing it.  But, all is well here, just busier that I thought it was going to be!

I had this little project done for a while, and thought I would share with you today.

I love these folded books for filing things.  I made a recipe file using this technique.
I decided I wanted one for my new craft room.  So, I made this...
I wanted to make a quickie project that I can use on my desk top for little notes that I write to myself.  I found a bunch of these weekly time books at the local thrift store, and I have used some of the pages for my junk journals.  I carry one in my purse, and do Zentangles in it when I am waiting somewhere and a little bored. I also draw in it on my lunch hour when I need a little "Time Out".
They are old, but I don't know how old, there is no date on the books at all.  Look at this wage table!
It made a cute, simple, and small organizer for my notes.  I jot things down, and now I have a little place to put them until I do them.

Have a wonderful MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!  Take a moment to remember those who have fought and died while serving our country.

Fireworks!

I was just messing around with a Crystal Light drink container that I had saved, some scrap papers and stickers, and this spray I found on sale at Michael's.  I thought it was a cute little 4th of July centerpiece, and it could be used to give as a gift...filled with candies and goodies!

Altered Recipe File

I made this a little while ago...

I love recycling projects!  I bought this book for another project, but it was too big...so what to do?
I ran across this on The Art of Book Folding.  At first, the Halloween theme really caught my eye, but then, I had another idea.
I got out my stuff and made this recipe file.  I LOVE IT!  I put some of my most commonly used recipes in it and it can sit on my shelf and look beautiful and store my families favorite eats!

The hardest part was the folding, but it is too worth it.  What kind of something can you think of?  A "rolodex" type of file...table top picture file, hummm...let me know what you think!

Stay crafty!!!
