Tilda & Friends ATC Challenge "Chocolate!"

This week over on the Tilda & Friends ATC Challenge Blog the theme is "Chocolate"....with Easter this weekend....what could be better. For my ATC I have used one of the Easter hAnglar & stAnglar stamps coloured with Distress Inks using the following colours...
Tattered Rose (Skin)
Walnut Stain (Hair)
Spiced Marmalade/Worn Lipstick (Clothing)
Spiced Marmalade (Shoes)
Antique Linen/Tea Dye (Seat)
Peeled Paint (Grass)
Weathered Wood (Sky)

It feels like I haven't blogged in ages....but really it is just under a week. I had a fantastic time at ScrapFever....another wonderful event. Took four fab classes, learnt some amazing new techniques which included making stamps with funky foam and also make my own flowers by burning fabric.....sounds intriguing doesn't it. I promise to come back and show pics of the items I made....as the mini books are both finished just awaiting pics and the 2 DLO's are almost there....one needs photos and the other needs a little journalling....once they are done I will post pics. Today I even made one of the flowers using the burning tecnique....amazing Lynsey and now she is desperate to have a try and we are off to the fabric shop next week...LOL.

So now I am back, I will have a project to show you in the morning....and hopefully I can get busy again this evening.

Photos & Layouts from ScrapFever

I was lucky and managed to get a photo with Karen Russell. She was sop amazing a friendly. I got an even nicer picture of her on her own. Thanks to Julie (Hollysmum on UKS for taking this piccie for me).

The first layout was one from Shimelle's "Love it Again" class. I was scared of the papers at first....but once I found the right pictures it became easier. Shimelle was teaching us about building a layout from the middle outwards, so that any "white space" is at the edge of the LO...not in the middle. She compared it to a newspaper/magazine, and explained that they never have gaps in the middle, only on the edges. I thought that was an excellent explanation, and must remember it. Anyway, the papers are a mixture that I am not sure I can remember, I know one is the new Crate Paper, another is Sassafraslass...I cannot remember the rest...

The second layout is from Karen Russell's Interactive Layouts Part Two. The mini book on the front contains 10 photos from our day at Willen Lake on Mothers Day, and can be accessed without removing the layout from the page protector.

I love the was Karen scraps with a minimum amount of products...she really only uses paper, cardstock stickers, brads, buttons, ribbon, lace, acetate and stamps. Plus regular stationery items like envelopes, slide protectors and other stuff found in Staples....it is very liberating.

I have been making some more cards last night, but ran out of time this morning to take pictures....so I will do that when I get home this afternoon.

Layouts from ScrapFever....

Well some of them anyway....I am working on finishing a couple of them...just little bits left to do.

The first is Interactive class one, layout one. As you can see we created a flap on the right hand side of the LO that sticks through the page protector so that it can be viewed without removing the LO from the page protector.

Karen's idea is to incorporate the page protector into the design rather than think of it as something that has to go over the top of the LO.

The second LO that we created in her first class incorporated a flap and pockets at the top of the page where more pictures and other memorabilia can be kept.

I will post pictures of the others a little later, as I really need to get off to work.

Oh no...it's the final countdown....

Now, if you are sad like me you can hear BonJovi singing in your head...LOL

So this morning I have the final Karen Russell interactive class. Her first class yesterday was AMAZING. As she was talking at the beginning of the class she was welling up with emotion when she was talking about her kids....it bought tears to my eyes.....she is most certainly one of the most inspirational scrappers I have ever met, and her pages are stunning, and the journalling....well it's gets ya. I am so glad that when I saw her name on the list of teachers, I jumped straight in and booked, honest to god, if you ever see her name on a teaching list in this country....FORGET THE COST, FORGET EVERYTHING ELSE....JUST BOOK IT.
Anyway, been having a FAB time, Amy and her Hubby and Parents have done an amazing job, and I definately want to sign up for next years event.

So finally, here is a pretty for you to look at. I made this in the morning before I came here on Friday. Was my first time stamping with this stamp. She is of course Ballerina Tilda by Magnolia. The sentiment stamp is by SeeDee's, the papers are Basic Grey "Sultry", the ribbon is from HobbyCraft and the Blossom is an old one from the now defunct L'il Davis.

So either later tonight or tomorrow I will be back with pictures of what I made....which consists so far of a 7Gypsies Tag Book, AC 8x8 album, and 6 LO's... I think there are two more to do today. The AC album needs to have a few more pics and some journalling, the tag book needs pics from this weekend, but all the other projects are completed.

Bye for now.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge 4 "Planes, Trains & Automobiles"

So I know I am away, but thank god for free wireless internet at the hotel....ya gotta love it.

I made this card on Thursday Night/Friday Morning for this weeks challenge and am just getting around to loading it. It is for David's brothers birthday on Monday. The sentiment reads "The only difference between men and boys.... is the size of their toys"....and how true that is. I have used my Hanglar & StAnglar stamps with K&Co "Hopscotch Boy" papers, American Craft ribbon and my ATB tape writer for the sentiment. There is even a piece of Basic Grey "Cupcake" that the stamped image is matted onto.
Dinner was lush last night, and cannot I wait to have brekkie. I am also rather pleased with myself as I have actually completed 2 LO's so far, which is not bad for a ditherer like me.I have also cropped my photos ready for Karen Russell's class at 9.15am.

Yipppeeee, Today's the Day.....

It's Fever time. Well my stash is packed and I am about to go and pack my clothes and toiletries. I will be leaving at about 12.30pm so that I can be there for the 2pm check in. I know most of the people will be arriving later during the day as I expect some of them have further to travel, but I wanted to be there as soon as we are allowed into our rooms, as I like to unpack and get my room sorted...I can't help myself, I always like to arrange my things and hang clothes up etc.
Anyway, in between packing last night, I managed to make some cards....2 in total that I will show you over the weekend. All the rooms have free high speed internet access...thank goodness, I don't cope well without a computer...LOL...kidding. I will however be using it so that I can talk to Georgia & David via webcam.
So this card is using Skating Tilda and some Clevercut stamps. The papers are Basic Grey "Sultry", the blossom is by Bo Bunny and the ribbon is American Craft. I am loving these Basic Grey papers, I only bought the 6x6 pad as I always end up buying the 12x12 papers and never using them....I have a Basic Grey mountain, although the last pack I got was "Phoebe" and I have used some of them....but trust me not enough to justify buying the pack.

So I better get back to packing as I want to make sure I don't forget anything.

Five Days to go........then it's Fever time....

Ok, so I am now officially excited, for on Friday @ lunchtime I am off to Chesham, to Latimer Place Hotel for ScrapFever April 2008 Retreat....and the pictures of the new refurb look fab. I am planning to upload all the pics I need to print to Costco this evening so that they can be collected on Monday/Tuesday....and I have to start deciding what supplies I want/need to take...LMAO.

I did make another card last night...Another with my gorgeous new Hanglar & StAnglar stamps....I can never get bored of these lovelies.
The other stamps used are Stampendous and Papirloftet, the papers are K&Co "Hopscotch", the ribbons are American Craft, the buttons are from a huge stash I have...I had a buttons addiction for a while...I seem to at least be able to use them now, rather than just hoard them.

I've been and gone and booked....

I am going to ScrapFever in April 2008. I wasn't going to go on any other retreats in 2008 as I am already booked into GoGo Getaway in June 2008, and MKScrappers Retreat in September 2008 but as soon as I saw that Karen Russell was coming over to teach, then it was a no-brainer as they say. I love her Narratives range and basically everything she does, so cannot wait to meet her. So my deposit is paid and my place secured...yipeeeee.
