Hey everyone, Abby here today! This 3GJ post is an extra special one for me as I get to introduce our Guest Designer for this week..Joan aka Sassy Olk.
Sassy and I met close to two years ago when we became DT sisters. She is an amazing person & is so very creative (as you will see with her FAB project below) and I am truly proud to say that she is not just an online crafty acquaintance but she is my FRIEND. Her personality lives up to her name and I wouldn't have her any other way. Please help me give a warm 3GJ welcome to Miss Joan aka Sassy Olk with Sassy Moments.
It's me, Sassy! Born and raised in the Land of 10,000 Lakes I
am all Minnesotan. I love the change of
seasons, sitting by a lake, fishing from a dock, and listening to the call of
the loons. Married to Jason, we are the
parents to one, spoiled, four-legged, furry peke-a-poo, Sassy. The name stuck with me after bringing her
home. In addition, I am the proud Mom to
two successful adult children that make me extremely proud.
My crafting style is
anything but clean and simple. I like to
adapt to the challenge and try my hand at all styles. I guess that makes me eclectic!
The messier the
technique the more I seem to love it. I
like getting my hands into creating, feeling the different textures, applying
glue, gesso, fiber paste, paint, Mod Podge, etc. You get the idea. Very seldom do I mess with using a paintbrush
or other applicators. Easily my favorite
technique is learning a new one. Taking
a class, watching YouTube videos, subbing to online classes and blog following
all play a major part in my life of learning.
I feel very fortunate as
this week's 3 Girl JAM Guest Designer. Thank
you.
Jar of Hearts
I
wanted to highlight the gorgeous texture of the 3 Girl JAM ribbon and
decided to crochet hearts as embellies. I love the end result and the
ribbon color is beautiful. How perfect to embellish your Valentine's
Day project for that special someone!
For
my project I began with a plain ball jar and lid. Using Mod Podge I
adhered the bright pink tissue paper. Off-white burlap was wrapped
around the jar and on the front side only threaded Cherry Lipstick
wrinkly ribbon under and over. With the ribbon on the top I used a
Sharpie marker to be sure all the loops were the same size. The four
hearts were all crocheted using different size hooks (L, J, I, H) and
hung showing on some the front-side or the back-side. I love the effect
of both end results. With the remaining ribbon I wound it around the
lid and embellished it with a light-pink bling.
Ribbon colors from 3 Girl JAM - Antique White, Baby Pink, Cherry Lipstick
I hope you like my Jar of Hearts and are inspired to give crochet a try!
