--A letter from New York, dated Tuesday evening, says:‘ "Wall street continues dull. Additional heavy failures in commercial circles are announced, owing to the almost entire stoppage of remittances from the South and West.
"Stocks generally are lower. Border State securities are us steady as anything upon the list, and have been clearly oversold. Virginia 6's sold for cash at 48, regular at 47, and seller's option 10 days at 44. Kentucky 6's advanced Ȃ, selling at 70Ȃ Tennessee 6's, ½ at 50½.
"At the second board the market was generally lower. There are no stocks pressing on the market, and some descriptions are scarce. Kentucky 6's declined 5½, selling at 65; Virginia 6's brought 40, s30.
