The small notes of the city.
--The new one dollar notes of the city corporation, authorized to be issued by the Common Council, have made their appearance and been put in circulation. The lithographing was executed by Messrs. Hoyer & Ludwig of this city, and well done. The scarcity of change has been seriously felt in this city for some time past, so much so that the issue of small notes became an imperative necessity. This is one of the wise acts of our Council, for which the people are grateful, and for which the brokers — in all kindness, be it said — thank them not at all.
