She also had great sponsors. All for the  Tyler Robinson Foundation. You can see her post here and a pic of me. She has better pictures than me of course. She is fabulous!

Pumpkin pie and candied pecans topping

Delicious Pumpkin pie with candied pecan topping

I am sharing with you a little secret. I have made this pie many times for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it is my favorite. I love pecan pie but the crunchy candy pecan topping just brings the pumpkin pie to a higher level. The pie dough is the best I have find so far.

Pumpkin pie recipe
I use the recipe on the Libby's pumpkin can for the pumpkin pie recipe:
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 can (15 oz.) LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
  • 1 can (12 fl. oz.) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell
  • MIX sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger and cloves in small bowl. Beat eggs in large bowl. Stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in evaporated milk.

Pour into pie shell. I use this recipe from BHG. This is the best pie dough recipe in the world. It makes dough for 2 pumpkin pies.
Bake in preheated 425° F oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350° F; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
  • Candied pecan topping:
  • 1 cup whole pecans or chopped,
  • 1 cup brown sugar,
  • 1/4 cup butter.
Melt the butter in the microwave. In small bowl, mix the butter and brown sugar. Add your pecans.

Pour the mixture on the cooled pumpkin pie until  it covers the whole top. You might have a little extra.
Arrange the pecans to look pretty if whole pecans.
Place your pie under the broiler until the sugar is bubbling and the pecans are darker brown but not burned.
Let cool

You will get a very yummy and hard shell. Great addition to the smooth texture of the pumpkin pie.
Add whip cream and your favorite vanilla ice cream. Heaven!

Turkey treats with cookies and candy tutorial

This so cute and the kids love to make them and eat them. Of course!
It would be also a cute idea to put one on each plate for Thanksgiving. Let them "dry" for the next day. They fall apart a little.
A cute idea for family Home evening or family night. Talk about the story of Thanksgiving and make the treats.

You will need:
Nutter Butter cookies,
Ginger snaps cookies,
Mike and Ike candy or jelly beans,
Candy corn,
Mini chocolate chips,
Icing.

Start with the Turkey body and face. Chocolate chips and mike and Ike. Glue it all with the icing. A butter knife does the trick to apply the icing.

2 ginger snaps for the body.

2 Mike and Ike candy for the feet.
5 candy corn or more for the feathers.

Cute and you can make them the color you want.

Use an icing pipe for neater results.
They disappear very fast!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pumpkin carving party!

Time for a party! The kids had a lot of fun!
it is an Halloween pumpkin party!

I am joining the Halloween party at A Fanciful twist.

I first set my tablescape.
My table is very beat up. A table cloth does the trick.
I can use my table to do crafts with the kids and cover it up for diner and parties.
In France, we don't throw away a table because it has been too used. We paint it or cover it.

The pumpkin lanterns come for the dollar tree. I checked where everything would go on the table and how many dishes i needed.

There it is, all set with the kids in costumes...

We had orange Nachos.

A pumpkin cheese ball and crackers.

French Pumpkin soup with croutons and Swiss cheese.

Pumpkin cupcakes.

Pumpkin candies.

Orange soda.

Let's eat!

I love the pumpkin plates.

Then, we carved our pumpkins.

Mimi had a pink pumpkin...the inside is different from the orange ones...More fuzzy. She thought it was pretty cool!

Vampire pumpkin.

Not so happy pumpkin.

Pink heirloom pumpkin...with cute carved face.

Our front door. I just harvested the pumpkins we grew this year. 4 small little ones. So fun!

Orange nachos. Coming up.
