My Dinner At Chef Low Organic Kitchen

It has been some time since I last ate vegetarian food. I am actually not very fond of vegetarian food but the two vegetarian restaurants that I do not mind going to are Organic Recipe and Kuan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant.

The difference between the two restaurants is that Organic Recipe serves organic vegetarian food whereas Kuan Yin Restaurant serves non-organic vegetarian food.

Last Sunday, I had another opportunity to dine in an organic vegetarian restaurant called Chef Low Organic Kitchen. Located at 10 Boulevard in Kayu Ara along the Sprint Highway in Petaling Jaya, this restaurant cannot be seen from the Sprint Highway as it is actually on the other side of the building that is not facing the highway.

Does the building above look familiar to you? It is the 10 Boulevard commercial complex. It was my first time entering this building although I passed by it many times.

To get to Chef Low Organic Kitchen, you need to drive to the other side of the building that is not facing the Sprint Highway.

My family and I had went there for dinner. As I entered the restaurant, I noticed the place was bright, elegant and clean.

There were fresh coconuts in a corner near the entrance.

We got ourselves a nice table that fitted the five of us. Opening the menu I was greeted with this message on the first page.

OK, it was definitely my first time seeing this quote coming from Albert Einstein. Was Einstein himself a vegetarian, I wonder?

We first ordered their signature fruits tea. The tea came in a large jug which we poured out into five glasses.

There were two sizes - Large, priced at RM15.90 and Small, at RM12.90. We chose Large.

My glass of fruit tea. I had a sip and it tasted warm, nice and slightly sweet.

The drink was addictive. I finished one glass in no time and refilled it from the jug. I just wanted to keep on drinking and drinking but I had to restrain myself or there would be none left for other members of my family!

I was curious to know what fruits were used to make the fruits tea so after we finished drinking the whole jug, I took a picture of the fruits inside the jug. If not mistaken, I think they were slices of apples, pears and oranges.

Well, guess what? My mom ate up all the fruit slices and why not? These extra fibres are definitely good for health!

Since this is a vegetarian restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised to see from the menu that they offer Western, Chinese, Japanese and Thai food!

First, we ordered the Thai fruit salad.

Priced at RM6.90, this salad was pretty good although I was not sure if it could be called Thai fruit salad. Chunks of mango, papaya and possibly other fruits in yummy sauce topped up with sprinkling of peanuts - definitely a good appetizer if any!

Next we had herbs fried ramen which did not look that good but taste wonderful!

Priced at a reasonable RM10.90, this big plate of ramen was delightful to eat!

My plate of herbs fried ramen

After that, we had pine nuts lotus root priced at RM13.90.

I don't know about you but I always love to eat lotus root, and this dish which combined lotus roots and other vegetables was yummylicious!

Next, we had Chinese mahogany beancurd.

Another mouth watering dish, the beancurd was delicious but I only managed to eat one! Well, there were only about five or six slices of beancurd on the plate and I could not be too greedy, could I? This dish was priced at RM12.90.

If you like mushrooms, then this basil leaf mushroom may just be your cup of tea!

It was not my favourite dish but I had no complaints really. At RM13.90, I considered it quite reasonably priced.

Now let me tell you about the fantastic fruit pizza!

I can tell you this is one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten! Thin, crispy and with the aroma of fruits and cheese, this is a MUST-EAT when you dine in this restaurant!

I had almost wanted to order this pizza again after finishing it, but I knew I had to stop myself from doing so. Priced at RM19.90, it was awesomely delicious! I would definitely eat this pizza again the next time I visit this restaurant!

Our next dish, the Pad Thai Spicy was a disappointment. This stir-fried rice noodles was too oily and was not tasty enough for my liking.

It was however, quite reasonable priced at RM12.90, although I could have used that money to order say, another plate of herb fried ramen! Oh well, you never know unless you try right?

After all these food, we still had a little bit of space left in our stomachs so we ordered one more dish. Guess what dish is this?

It is the mushroom baked rice with a layer of cheese at the top!

Some people may not like the cheese on top of the rice, but for me, it is the cheese that makes it special!

At RM12.90, this mushroom baked rice was delicious! It really filled me up pretty good!

Chef Low Organic Kitchen also serves desserts like mango pudding, mud pie, cheese cake and home made ice cream, but that day, I was in the mood for their coconut pudding.

Priced at RM4.90, this delightful pudding contained coconut flesh buried inside the jelly pudding. It was not too sweet and had a very lovely coconut taste and aroma. The only problem was, it did not come chilled. And that spoilt the whole dessert which was a pity!

Our total bill came to RM131.80 (which includes a 5% service charge) which I though was pretty reasonable for an organic vegetarian restaurant!

If you think that eating organic and eating vegetarian food are expensive and not tasty, well, I dare say that this Chef Low Organic Kitchen will change your mind!

Besides serving delicious organic food, this restaurant also sells organic snacks like cookies, nuts, jams and condiments.

Chef Low Organic Kitchen does not use eggs, garlic, onions and MSG in their food preparation. And since most of the materials are sourced from organic farms, you can be assured of a healthy meal that is suitable for people from all walks of life and religions!

They say it's good to do some walking after dinner to help with the digestion, so my family and I went for some leisure stroll around the block.

I would have to say that this 10 Boulevard commercial complex was rather quiet. It was quite surprising that many people knew about this Chef Low Organic Kitchen located in this building.

In fact, during our dinner that day, the restaurant was filled almost to the brim! The restaurant must be really successful as I found that it actually occupied two shoplots!

I really do not mind going for another round of healthy, organic vegetarian dishes! Anyone want to join me for dinner at Chef Low Organic Kitchen?

1. I am frustrated! Totally frustrated and pissed off with Blogger! Each time I click on the "Edit Posts" button in my Dashboard, I would get an error message with the error code bX-h905gs.

Has anyone of you experienced this problem before? How did you solve it? I have already complained to Blogger Support a few times since last week but the problem is still there!

So what I did was to keep refreshing and reloading until I got into my Lists of Posts. How irritating!! Now you know why I don't post as often these days!! If this continues, I may either start a totally new blog or quit blogging altogether! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

2. Look at this picture I took a few days ago. It was taken right before the junction turning left into The Curve's parking lot in Mutiara Damansara, PJ.

The signboard in red says "Turn left if no vehicles coming from the right".

So do you follow the signboard or the traffic light?

3. Some banks will go all out and do their damnedest to make you owe them money so that they can earn the interests off you! I received this from Standard Chartered Bank early last month.

It was timed in such a way (ie right before Chinese New Year) when most people were in desperate need of money. Well, luckily I didn't fall for it! But many would have went ahead and banked in the cheque!

Think about it - if these people don't have enough money before Chinese New Year, what makes them think they will have enough money to pay the bank after borrowing that RM3,000?

4. Have you ever seen a car with this number plate BAMbee?

Doesn't the word Bambee reminds you of a Disney classic? How the hell do these people get such a number?

5. Although I normally eat fruits and only fruits for breakfast, I sometimes do like to go out to eat my ideal breakfast, which is toast with butter and kaya, half boiled eggs and a cup of hot coffee!

I found a good kopitiam to have my ideal breakfast during the recent Chinese New Year holidays. It is TC Toast and Coffee located at Damansara Uptown, PJ.

For RM7.15 (inclusive 5% service charge), I got to enjoy my breakfast on a quiet morning. Why quiet? Because it was on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and the area was deserted! I would not dream of going there on normal working days!! Unless I go there really early before 8am.

6. Nowadays, I am so in love with.....PappaRich! haha!

No, I am not saying their food is of excellent quality. What's more, I think the prices they charge are way too expensive!

But I just fell in love with their steamed bread with butter and kaya.

Look at that generous amount of butter and kaya! Love it!!! Normally, I can't even finish all those kaya and butter!

And their wholemeal bread is totally yummylicious!!

I mean, if you have not tried it, you just don't know what you are missing! Oh, by the way, these bread must be eaten hot right off the oven!

And not forgetting their delicious organic soya milk. So creamy and tasty you will want to drink it to the last drop!

OK, the organic soya milk is supposed to be white and slightly yellowish in colour. I don't know why it turns out to be brown like a glass of Milo in this photo! Haha!

As I mentioned earlier, eating at PappaRich is not cheap. If I were to eat my ideal breakfast (ie bread, half boiled eggs and coffee) here, it would set me back by at least RM12! That's almost double what I pay at TC Toast and Coffee, and probably triple what you'll pay at normal coffeeshops!

7. During the recent Chinese New Year holidays, I saw the biggest fan ever seen in a shopping mall in Malaysia. Yes, I mean fans - those that turn and hang from the ceiling.

Now we all know normal fans have 3, 4 or maybe 5 blades or wings. This largest fan I saw has 10!! Take a look!

Yes! The largest ceiling fan in Malaysia can be found at Sunway Giza in Sunway Damansara.

Can you count the number of blades/wings on the fan?

I wonder what will happen if this gigantic fan were to come crashing down? It would surely not be a sight to behold!

Oh, by the way, Sunway Damansara is NOT located anywhere near Sunway Subang. Don't be fooled! This Sunway is in Kota Damansara, PJ. I have so many friends who went all the way to Subang when I asked them to meet me up at Sunway Damansara! Horrors!

Sometimes, I just wonder why those people coming up with names of places are so bloody creative!

My Lunch At Organic Recipe

Do you eat organic foods?

Organic food are those food that are mostly free from pesticides, chemicals, hormones and GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Although there is no organic food that is 100% free from pesticides, they are much healthier than normal non-organic ones.

Since I am quite health conscious, I try to eat "organic" as often as possible.

So when my friend invited me to lunch at an organic vegetarian food restaurant last Friday, I was more than willing to go!

We went to this restaurant called Organic Recipe in Bandar Utama. In case you wonder, no, it has no relation with Secret Recipe, haha!

The restaurant is located inside the Casa Utama condominium. After parking my car in the visitors' parking lot, I looked for the staircase. There was a signboard telling me the direction to the restaurant.

Walking down two flight of stairs, I reached Organic Recipe.

My friend was not there yet, so I just walked around and shot some photos. I thought the ambience there was nice!

These were the outdoor areas. As it was early, not many people were around yet. Those who were already there were sitting inside the air conditioned area.

I decided to sit outside to wait for my friend as I just loved the relaxing ambience, with the sound of birds chirping in the distance.

When my friend finally arrived, we quickly looked through the menu. I noticed they have specials lined up for the day which was not stated in the menu.

today

Following my friend's recommendation, I ordered the Tom Yam Soup in Coconut, and the fruit rojak. My friend ordered the Special Fish dish, which was one of the "specials" for the day.

yummy dishes 2

See my giant tom yam coconut? They were very generous with the tom yam soup until the coconut was not big enough to contain all the soup! The extra soup was placed in a big bowl (behind the coconut in the above photo) which I passed to my friend, and there was a smaller bowl (the small bowl in front) containing the extra tom yam soup for me!

This is how my giant tom yam coconut looks like up close!

And my bowl of the extra tom yam soup filled with vegetables. No meat of course, as this is an organic vegetarian restaurant!

I can tell you the tom yam soup was very nice! Just the right amount of spicy and sour tastes! And I liked the fact that I could scrape the white coconut flesh to eat too! In fact, I enjoyed the soup so much I finished all the soup until the very last drop! Yummy!

At RM14.90, I think it's slightly on the high side, but still pretty reasonable as organic food are usually more expensive than non-organic ones.

This is the organic fruit rojak I ordered.

organic rojak

I really enjoyed this rojak! Very tasty with lots of fruits and delicious sauce. Totally satisfying to the last bite!

Priced at RM7.90, I thought it was quite worth it, bearing in mind again this is organic rojak!

I also tried a little of the Special Fish dish my friend ordered.

special fish

See the pieces of fish on top? For a minute, I thought I was eating fish, and then realized this was a vegetarian restaurant! Haha! So it was not real fish, but it tasted pretty good!

This special fish dish costs RM13.90. I think I still prefer my tom yam soup!

Both my friend and I called for a bowl of brown rice each to eat with these dishes. Surprisingly, they did not charge us for the 2 bowls of rice! I was not sure whether they had forgotten, or it was supposed to be free! Well, I did not bother to ask! haha!

We both also ordered a glass of passion fruit juice each.

passion fruit drink 2

I ordered with ice whereas my friend ordered without ice. Normally, I do not order my drinks with ice because I feel a lot of restaurants try to short change you with lots of ice and very little of the drink. But for this restaurant, I was surprised that my iced drink came in a bigger glass than my friend's. Not bad! Priced at RM3.90, it was quite a delicious and refreshing drink!

The total bill for both of us came to RM44.50 with only an added 5% service charge. I was quite happy with my meal here. Definitely will come here again!
