Exodite Avatar. WIPs
This is short story of birth of my another favourite project in 2017. It's an Eldar Avatar painted with non-standard color scheme.
Idea of Exodite Avatar was offered me by his owner, Peter Almo. I just tried to bring his vision in reality. Peter, thank you for one more beautiful mini in my portfolio! )
And here's Peter's thougts, which serve me as a starting point for painting:
"The idea is to have the
Avatar come out of the lore if the exodite Eldar. The exodites saw the
destructive path the Eldar were going down, and left to start new worlds before
the downfall. Eventually the eldars extreme decadence brought about the birth of
the chaos god slaanesh who destroyed most of the Eldar, that's why there are so
few left. The exodites colonized planets many light years away, and there
lifestyle became very agricultural and simple. The exodites are characterized
by very verdant themes with lots of natural growth and flowers, as the exodites
live in very lush, green societies. My idea is that they still worship the
Eldar god khaine, but that when he manifests as an Avatar for the exodites, he
doesn't appear as molten fiery rock anymore, but rather an explosion of life
and nature. I'm imagining a model defined by beautiful overgrowths of nature,
with flowers, bursts of green and even wood. "
Ok, lets go!

Lietpold the Black
This model was bought in 2011 and now it's time to paint it. It's very time-consuming model because of lots of details and patterns. But the main thing I can say after finishing it - it's the uneven casting quality. Apparently, I'm so lucky that half of the ForgeWorld models, which I painted, have one or another serious deffects. In this case, the most big problem was with his left eye. It could be removed with sculpting at an early stage, but I missed it (and I'm not good sculptor enough for such work). So the face painting was a long agony, until a friend gave me an idea to close the eye with something and now it's monocle.
I wanted to use some colors which I never used before - this cold tones of green. I prefer to paint with more warm grassy greens. And exactly this reason was my start point ).

Space Eldar army: Hornets
This big commission project of Space Eldar army started last fall with the Crimson Hunter. Now the second piece is ready and this is three Eldar Hornets.
Requirements were almost the same: black background (Ulthwe craftworld), Space theme, no Eldar signs, less artwork - more tabletop quality. And we've decided (with an owner) to do each squadron with its personal color (if it's possible). The first turn was for violet.
I've used the same techniques for painting planets and other space objects as I did on Crimson Hunter. So I improve my skill of airbrush painting very much!!!
