Crafty Gals Corner Challenge: Try Something New!!!! Exercise is a Dirty Word . . .

Welcome to Crafty Gals Corner's challenge with the theme of Try Something New!!! We have two (2) fabulous sponsors for our challenge: Stamp and Create ($20 Gift Certificate) and Bugaboo Stamps (7 digital images)!!!!

With my New Year's Resolution to take better care of myself by going to the gym not only for water aerobics for arthritis but I have now started with a personal trainer this image was the purrfect image for me to play with - Ruby Chocolate . . . Dirty Word and for my trying something new - a side step card!!!

NOW, let's talk about this card - it most definitely got a vocabulary lesson and several pieces of chocolate were inhaled in this process!!!!!!!! I followed the tutorial on Splitcoasters to make this edible card!!!

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • brown Recollection card stock for the base with the background being DCWV The Snack Stack which had this edible paper!!!
  • Ruby Chocolate - Dirty Word was colored using Whisper Strokes and Spectrum Noir Markers with gel pen accents
  • lollipop was cut using Cricut Mini Monsters Cartridge with Stickles accents
  • individual pieces of the chocolate were cut and added to the card for dimensional
I tried something new as this is the very first side-step card I have made and I will make another one but I have learned the following: DO NOT EMBOSS BEFORE FOLDING OR USE CARDSTOCK THAT HAS BEEN EMBOSSED!!!!!!

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • DCWV Harvest stack was cut 6 x 12 inches which was scored in half for my background
  • backgrounds are various pieces from my scrap drawers
  • Andrew the Scarecrow was colored with Prisma Markers, Spectrum Noir Markers, Whisper Strokes and gel pen accents and finally chalked around the edges
  • fall leaves are EK Success Vellum Fall Leaves and were placed both on the front and inside
  • cornstalks were cut using Cricut Simply Scarecrow
  • pumpkins were cut using Cricut Mini Monsters Cartridge
  • sentiment, "Autumn the season to find contentment at home . . . by paying attention to what we already have", had been Create with TLC  which has rounded corners and chalked around the edges
  • So Trendy Copper Ribbon was added to the one side of my card

Happy 5th Birthday Nicky

Nick just celebrated his 5th Birthday and had a Halloween Birthday Costume Party. It was such fun with the invitation saying to come in costume and of course, I was sort of in costume. Sasha kept asking where I kept that eye hiding and of course I entertained everyone with my warped and corny jokes such as "I see you"!

First I have to show you Jean's cake as she does bake the bestest cakes ever!!!

Now, for Nick's card --- I used Mini Monsters and cut out my little character at 4.25 inches and placed on Halloween Goblin Stack using of course A Child's Year cutting my card cut at 5.75 inches. The font in Happy Hauntings is now one of my favorite fonts and these were cut at .75 inches using black paper.

Now for the inside of the card, I used my Trick or Treat Rubber Stamp with black ink and colored in the flags with my colored pencils. I hand-wrote the balance of the card!

I hope you enjoy not only my bizarre sense of humor and costume but Jean's cake along with Nick's card! Thank you for stopping by!

God Bless
Hugs and Love,
Lynne
