Sewing Mends the Soul

Several of my "quiltie" friends try to meet every other month with a big retreat the 2nd weekend in October (and that one is getting super close!!!). In May, we met at St. Francis where I took pictures along with creating a lay-out of my friends using Create with TLC Friends Make Life Blossom Vintage Image Transfer and Word Art Set

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • background from DCWV The Crafting Stack - don't you love it as it looks like a mat for my rotary cutter
  • image was colored using Prisma Colored Pencils with gel pen accents and chalk for background
  • "Sewing Mends the Soul" along with the scissors and thread spool from Create with TLC June Mega Club which were chalked around the edges
  • tape measure Washi tape were added to side of the pictures which I made as wallet size
  • comments were made with a white gel pen
  • AND of course there are safety pins and spools of thread buttons!!!!!

Thank you for stopping and visiting today and hope you come back again!!!

It's a new challenge at Create and Inspire - Are you ready to "create" with us??? We have for the challenge this week fabulous sponsor:

In Pittsburgh, we have what is called the Gateway Clipper Fleet with one of the fleet being called the Good Ship Lollipop. Well, during vacation time, Lily and Adam went on the Good Ship Lollipop for a Pirate's Cruise which inspired me to use Lacy Sunshine Rory Sailing for a lay-out with my wonderful inspiration - Lily and Adam!!!

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • background DCW All About Boys Stack
  • Rory was colored using Prisma Colored Pencils, Whisper Strokes with Stickles and gel pen accents
  • "Good Ship Lollipop" tag was made for me by Paulette at Create with TLC  which was colored with Tim Holtz Marker and chalked around the edges
  • sentiment, "Work like a Captain, Play like a Pirate", was part of Create with TLC  July Mega Club which was rounded around the corners and chalked around the edges
  • anchor button was added to "Good Ship Lollipop" with a wheel and anchor button to Rory's hat
OK, you knew, I just had to do it . . . . ready to get on your tap shoes and sing along with Shirley . . . .
Now, just for a bit of nostalgia and just in case I would ask you - Jen when she was Lily's age, her first dance show number was "On the Good Ship Lollipop" . . . I need to find a picture now in her dance costume!!!!

It's Mid-Way Posting time at Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenges with "Winter Get-AWAY" theme for Challenge 32.

For this challenge, the fabulous sponsors are:

I'm sew over winter with the cold, ice, and snow. It's time to get away and go up to the cabin and get some fishing done. NOW, I don't mean to brag but over Memorial Day last year, I got a big fish even bigger than Bob ever caught - no fish tale!!! Thus Polka Doodles Winston Bear Goes Fishing became the creative mojo for my lay-out for brace yourselves, an actual picture of me and my fish!!!

        RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
        • lay-out is on Reel and Rod Collage Paper by Karen Foster Design
        • Winston Bear was colored using Prisma Colored Pencils, Whisper Strokes markers, chalk with gel pen accents which was then fussy-cut around the edges and puff-dotted onto lay-out - isn't he a cutie?

        • Jolee stickers were used for added embellishments which had been given to me by a dear friend, Janet Smith

        • lettering was done using Cricut Plantin Cartridge and cream cardstock
        • photos were matted on scraps of green/blue plaid with dark blue recollection cardstock
I can't wait to see what your creations are. Don't forget to link your projects for a chance to win from the fabulous sponsors!!!!!
