Spa Towel Cake -Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Project

Hi everyone, I'm excited to share another 3D project with you all, remember each Monday begins with a new challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog, and this weeks challenge...
"Wedding Days"
make a card or project for a wedding
remember to include a cricut cut image somewhere on your project

I made this spa towel cake a few months ago for a friends bridal shower but had not posted it yet, so today is a great day to show it off.
I love the hint of cream and blue flowers added around the twill. The flowers are from the Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge.
I wrapped a few bath towels around each other, then tied with fun crinkle, added spa items around the bottom of the cake (glue dots were attached to the bottom of the bottles, they still had to be held in place when carrying the cake so they didn't fall off), a mesh pouf sponge with a handle on the top.

Below is the photo of the back of the towel cake.  I used twill down the back to represent a brides veil

A simple card using the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge for the flowers with Recollections gems in the center.  I'm sorry I can't remember which font I used for the word "Congratulations", but I do remember I welded the letters together using my gypsy (before it died... yes my gypsy is dead I'm very sad about that). I inked all the edges using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink.

If you came from my wonderful friend Charlotte's blog then you are in the right place! If you just happened across my blog and are interested in the entire hop and Emily's story, start back at Michelle's blog at Scrappin' For Kenzie!

Emily is a sweet little 6 year old girl that has battled Leukemia since before Chrstmas 2011. She has had to endure more pain in a few short months than most adults in their entire life. She has gone from Leukemia to Rotavirus, to pancreatitis, to kidney stones, then to shingles, not to mention over 300 pokes in her tiny little body! From chemo to blood draws to feeding tube. Her bone marrow is finally at 0.00% so she is now in remission and back at home! She is still going through 7 different chemotherapy treatments but is finally doing better! To read her full story and updates please visit the original Cards for Emily info post HERE

For this hop all we ask is that you hop through the list, then when you are done, link up your card for Emily at
Scrappin' for Kenzie. The link up tool is in the left hand side bar under "Cards for Emily". You will see her picture right above it.

REMEMBER: There is no requirement to leave comments or even hop through all of the blogs if you don't have time. There will be no personal candy at any of the stops along the way. That way you can get maximum inspiration to make your own card and have enough time to link it up and send it away!

There WILL be however a giveaway to one lucky winner that links up their card by February 29th 2012. You can link up as many cards/projects that you would like on Michelle's blog. The more you link up and send the more greater your chance is of winning a.....

Flower corsage -For Special Ladies

I was asked to make a few flower corsages for ladies for our church enrichment activity. Each month the leaders want to spotlight one lady and let her know how special she is and present her with a corsage to wear. Below are the flowers that I made.

I used the Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut cartridge and used 4 different flower shapes. Each flower has 6 layers cut at 3", 2.75", 2.5", 1.75", 1.5", and 1". The leaf was cut at 2.5"
To make my flowers I started by getting each flower layer and leaf wet then wrinkled it up, then let it air dry, or used my hair dryer to speed up the process, when they were mostly dried, I gently unfolded each layer then finished drying the flowers. Each layer was brushed using distressed ink, then I layered each flower together and added a vintage brad, glued the leaves on the back side and added a bit of cream color twill fabric (If you look closely in the photo you can see it). I printed a tag "I am Special" on vellum cardstock for the finising touch.

Thanks so much for visiting today, I love comments.
Have a great day!
