Sugar Creek Hollow Vintage/Shabby Chic Challenge

Hi there!
Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project ...with the theme...

Alter something in a vintage or shabby style

Woohooooo! I've been loving working with Dylusion Sprays, Gesso AND acrylic paints...so pulled out a plain ole brown notebook and went to town with the acrylicpaint, stencils and stamps...
here's what I came up with

the back is done also...

Used an old favorite stamp set from Stampin Up called "Long Time Friend" for primary image..the rest of the stamped images are just random stamps (some you can see clearly but some are "ghosted" and didnt show in picture...also used stencil from Dylusions for the leaves down the side, image is colored with Copics. Also used some Gelato sticks for the orange areas, white craft ink and a white Sharpie pen...stash lace.
The entire cover (front and back) is sealed with Modge Podge

I had so much fun creating this!!!...going to go back to Target and get some more notebooks!!

hugs,

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge

Hi there!
Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project ...with the theme...

VINTAGE CHRISTMAS!

Oh we are going to LOVE seeing your creations...
love love love vintage and/or shabby Christmas.

Pulled out a retired (and loved) 2005 Stampin Up set called Silent Night
stash designer paper and trim, teeny sentiment is unknown, gold base cardstock is from GKD.
Stamped on glossy cardstock using the crayon resist technique -click here if this is new to you and added copic Y4 for window lights (wish I had gone lighter but too late) and stickles for stars and night sparkle on roof/trees from snow

I forgot to mention that we have a new team member to welcome..

Crafters of Faith March challenge

Hi there,
I am sorry to my fellow sistahs of the Crafters of Faith group for posting so late - worked late last night and back out early this am - just now getting to computer - knew I should have auto posted KWIM!

Anyhoooooo, each month one of our sistahs challenges us to create something and for March our challenge is from Carolina. Her requirements:
use a lighthouse or some kind of light
at least 2 designer papers
and bling!!!

I used the retired stamp set from Stampin Up called "A Light Unto My Path"  combined with Artistic Outposts "Beyond the Sea"
my "bling" is a brad that I snipped the prongs off of...all designer paper from scrap box, black frame cut with Cricut-mini, cardstock is SU's Not Quite Navy and the light cardbase was stash...it's kind of a mustard color.

This talented group is listed in my sidebar if you would like to see their take on this challenge...
also entered in the new vintage challenge blog Frilly and Funkie ...it's their first challenge and perfect timing for me to be able to join in...

have a beautiful weekend
hugs

from Pretty Woman

This card is for the challenge over at Cinema Saturday .  It was to do a card reflecting something memorable from the movie Pretty Woman.  There were a lot of great scenes...started to do her singing (awful !!) in the bathtub! but then I thought of all the gorgeous dresses she wore....couldnt decide between the white one with the black hat or that gor-geous red number where he presented that gor-geous necklace!  so went with both....thankfully the set from SU provided the stamps! perfect match for this challenge...

I pieced the red dress and used red puffy embossing power to try and give it that velvet look. You can't tell in the pic, but one corner of the bottom of the dress is raised to give it more of a swirl.

You see my attempt to add Julia's gorgeous hair under her hat!

and I loved these three lines!  I can be so frustrated with DH and yet, if he says something romantic - all forgiven.................................hmmmmm.....................well, usually!  LOL

Stamps:  SU's Haute Couture
Paper: SU's white and black, Gina K's Rocket Red
Ink:  SU's black and red
Coloring : Copics
Embellishments: red puffy embossing powder, CB folder, mini red pearls
Technique: embossing, piecing, matting

Who else is a Pretty Woman fan?

sorry, just received email - the two statements in black are said by Julia Roberts
the red "you're stunning" was said to her by Richard Gere
hope that helped understand my card  :))

Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge #4

I am still pondering on the verse from this challenge Jeremiah 29:11.  I made a card for the challenge in the previous post, but just kept thinking that I had missed an opportunity to glorify the Lord's most precious plan for us!!  His Son -Jesus!
So here is my card - this one I'm much happier with ...!!

Stamp: SU's Heavenly Peace
Paper: Basic Grey stash, Gina K's Chocolate, SU's saffron and white
Ink: Memento Black, SU's Night of Navy and saffron
Embellishments: ribbon and twine from stash, gold mini heads from Gina K
Colored with Copics
Technique: Nesties, matting, coloring

sentiment is my own - used the computer :)
Have a blessed day,

the Deer

Needed to make a masculine birthday card - absolutely no ribbon, brads, bling, scallops, soft corners....nothing! not even a big ole "Hap-py Birthday" on the inside....tough request!

This set from Stampin Up finally came to mind!.....bingo!!...used markers on the stamp to give the image some color. The first thing I stamped, using the grey marker, was the mountain scene. Thought that would give the whole scene some depth. Then colored the tree stamp with markers ...and last is the deer, in black.

If you've never used your markers on your stamps, give it a try...just remember to "huff" .... (just breathe on stamp in hard short bursts - it moistens the marker on the stamp)

Stamps: from SU - Nature Silhouettes, Circle of Frienship, small script from ACM, mountains from Blue Ridge Impressions, little leaves from unknown
Paper: from SU - Burgundy, old olive, hunter green, plaid is from scraps, white
Ink: Memento Black
Markers: from SU - Grey, Burgundy, Choc Chip, Hunter Green, Old Olive
Technique: Huffing, matting

Those masculine cards are tough! I so wanted to add some gold brads or adhesive nail heads to the small green area under the image....or at least a cute little plaid ribbon :( sigh.....

Have a blessed day,

You're just my style

So trying to decide which Stampin Up sets I'm going to put on Ebay..it's hard..pulled this one out...had to use it! Nope, not parting with it :)
She's colored with Copics, matted on white mulberrry, paper/ink is Vintage Violet and Bordering Blue. The swiss dotted ribbon I think came from Michael's. Cuttlebugged the background mat...little stickles bling on hat and ...done!
She is so classy! Hope you like her, she is quick and easy...hmmmm, that didnt sound right, but you know what I mean :) LOL!

SU "On Gossamer Wings"

Entered a color challenge over at Stamp TV and wanted to use the cardstock stash from that ...and going through older SU stamp sets to sell...wanted to use this stamp from the "On Gossamer Wings" set. I dont know what to do! the more I go through my old stamps.. the more I want to keep them.. BUT they will be on Ebay soon ....I think I will do an all black mourning card on that day :(

Friday Sketchers Challenge No 57

This is my entry for Friday Sketchers Challenge No 57 . Enjoyed using this stamp from SU's "Tender Toile" retired stamp set. Colored with copics and added flower soft. I quilled the little rose and added the pearls. Didn't leave room for leaves so I used the shredded pieces next to my cutter - think I like it OK. Actually, was going to put this set on Ebay, but now... think I will keep it. grooooaaaaannnn - if I keep playing with the stamp sets I need to get rid of- I won't part with them ...and I have to! of course, it's to make room for NEW stamps :)

well, going to try and go to bed early tonight - it was a super busy weekend and have a long day at work tomorrow. No complaints though - thankful for my job.

Happy Father's Day!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Well, it turned out to be too busy a weekend for cards. Our daughter and her family (son-in-law Paul, 8yr old Maggie and 11 yr old Thomas) in North Carolina were able to come to Virginia this weekend. My niece just graduated from Va Tech and we were invited to her graduation cook-out at my brother's near Leesburg, Va on Saturday evening. Saturday morning we helped my other daughter have a yard sale. They have a 2 year old (Lily) and 4 month old (Logan), so I was GranMa at the yard sale. Loved it! and it worked out that they were able to shut down the yard sale at noon, take what didnt sell home, get kids fed and ready and then join us on trip to Leesburg (2 hours from my house). Needless to say - it was a full day. We were all exhausted!

I had done this card earlier this week for the challenge at http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2009/06/04/stamp-simply-90-gone-to-pot/ Love this stamp from an old Stampin Up favorite retired set.
Sorry about the long linking address - I need to learn how to do a link and give it a name without having to show the whole address.
And I need to get busy on some cards for ebay - I have already had one of my favorite customers email me with her support on my new blog but worried that I won't have time to do cards for her ...how sweet was that !! So will take a break on the challenges (everyone is right, they are addicting) and build up my card inventory for my little ebay store - need it to help support my addiction ooops hobby :>
goodnight
Linda
