Tilda's "Birthday wishes"

Hi there,
Worked on this card yesterday for 3 challenges! Havent had a chance to color any of my Magnolia's in soooo long - so just took my time and thoroughly enjoyed (-:   Had a great time with friends yesterday and we made 24 cards to be mailed to the missionaries for Christmas that our church supports ...thank you so much for your well wishes  (ate homemade pumpkin bread, and then cranberry bread and then later topped it off with pizza...and it all stayed down - so I'm thinkin all is OK LOL)

Originally intended to make this card just for the challenge over at Copic Creations - Browns or Make a Scene Challenge. However, that grew into adding what was needed to enter it in the challenge over at Joan's Garden's ....and since her challenge required a sentiment - wooo hooooo JACK POT because the challenge at 7 Kids Challenge Blog was Birthday Cards ....

sentiment stamp unknown - no markings...cardstock is SU's Cranberry Crisp.
Magnolia's Tilda and her dresser and ottoman (she and ottoman are raised on dimensional dots).
ink is Memento's Ruhubarb, Images stamped with Memento's Black, stash designer paper embossed with CB Herringbone folder, stash flat lace, dew drops for accent, small classic scalloped rectangle nestie for sentiment matted with scrap cs cut with postage decorative scissors, flourish at corner of dresser is from nestie pendant set, flourishes with flowers are done with EK and MS punches, glass jars and dresser top are colored with C2 and gloss accent added. Images colored with Copics E00, 17, 25, 29, 49, 55 and RV02, 04, 10 and sparkly is  Cotton Candy stickles applied to her lace and the jar tops.

Hugs everyone,

Heart to Heart Card Drive

I just found out today about  the "Heart to Heart Card Drive", collecting cards for the caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's (or if you don't know anyone personally , then for a caregiver at the Ardman Home where Carolyn King's grandmother was a patient before she passed away in 2008.) You'll brighten someone's day by sending a card you made and you might even win a blog candy valued at almost $1000! Get full details on Carolyn's blog and see all the sponsors who donated and prizes included, you have until tomorrow (Sunday) evening to enter!

anyone who has been the caregiver of someone with this terrible disease or for anyone who cant do for themselves - knows this takes a great deal of dedication and love...I've been down that road many, many years ago - so wish my Grandmother was still here...she passed in 1983 - there seems to be so much more available for those with this disease now...
just felt like playing with some of my Magnolia's - finished this one and working on some more that I hope to add to this post tomorrow..maybe...visiting a friend in hospital after church tomorrow between services.

have a blessed Lord's day - besides salvation - our good health is such a huge blessing!! I need to recognize that and take better care of myself....translated....lose weight and give my knees a break!!
hugs

yep, I know....did a really dumb thing!!! stamped and colored her first and THEN cut her out with nestie...cutting off the ends of her shoes!!! oh well, hopefully the person I send this to won't notice...she doesn't make cards...but lesson learned !!!! Trust Me!!
It really bugs me but not going to do her over.....but it really bugs me :)))

have a wonderfully blessed day,

Sketch Challenge 68 for A Spoonful of Sugar

Really love the Magnolia's!  Finally had a chance to make a card with one...this is for Challenge 68 at A Spoonful of Sugar.  She is a larger image so I couldn't fit the leaves across the bottom in the same manner of the sketch - but there are 3 embellishments at the bottom with the leaves.  Paper pieced her dress from stash paper...like the look of that technique.

Stamps: Gina K's - Eclectic Summer, Magnolia,
Paper: Gina K's - Green Apple and Chocolate, SU's Durango and white, dp stash
Ink:  Memento Black, Durango
Colored with Copics
Embellishments:  adhesive brad head from Gina K, EK's flourish punch, mini leaf punch unknown
Technique: coloring, paper piecing, matting

Next post will hopefully be Tuesday night...have Bible study at the jail tomorrow night. Please pray for these women - some are truly seeking to change their lives. Prayer is powerful!!

Have a blessed day,

BIGGGG BOW!

This card is for the Just Magnolia Week 20 Challenge - Ribbon and Bows. I bought this wire ribbon in the $1 bin at Michael's. The picture doesn't show it well, but it's a gorgeous blue with silver glitter...one of those "eye catching" ribbons...where you see beautiful winter cards, gorgeous Spring creations, etc etc etc! ....thought I'd hit the ribbon jackpot!

NOT....do not buy this ribbon! the glitter comes off the minute you touch it (well, slight exaggeration)...imagine tying a bow with it! I was covered in glitter...look closely and you can see it missing on the bow!
But what was I going to do...I based my whole card around it! hence, the bow tie instead of the glorious creation I had imagined....card over! but its going in that challenge!!! LOL

The rest of the card was fun! I actually tackled the Copic air brush! The nesties background is done with the air brush and Copic B12!....not too bad! The background paper is a scrap blue.... there is glitter gold pen in the flowers that Tilda is holding but it doesn't show well....

all because of that stupid bow!

oh well, we dont always love them all do we???? isn't it sometimes just the "call of the challenge"... LOL

Just Magnolia Week 16+ Friday Sketchers #63 Challenges

This card was done combining the Just Magnolia Week 16 and Friday Sketchers #63 challenges. I put two different magnolias together - so naturally they made the sweetest "friends for life".
The challenge at Just Magnolia was "distressing" and for some reason I wanted to go vintage. I had this dp in my paper bin which was just calling me to use it ...yep - paper speaks to me LOL sometimes so does ribbon ..please tell me I'm not alone :).....colored the little Tildas with Copics, distressed with Pale Plum and Always Artichoke, added some fiber yarny stuff, gold embelllishments, the sentiment is from Creative Vision. and I have my card! Hope you like it...

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 62-Sketch by Caryn

Posted by Picasa

I know...you're probably thinking CHRISTMAS !!! but I am starting to get the urge to get an early start. Wanted to use this Tilda and Edwin and that pushed me to go to my Christmas stamps for a sentiment. Next thing I knew, I had a whole armload of Christmas stamps that I took back to my work area. Yes,,I said "armload"...Christmas stamps are a weakness - add it to my list! When it comes to stamping I am weak about it all ... LOL ...Can anyone relate?

For this card I used Stampin Up dp and scallop punch, Martha Stewart snowflake punch (from scrap paper I had versamarked and glittered),gold gel pen, sentiment and brads from "somewhere".

Thanks for stopping by, please say Hi! and don't leaave without entering for my candy - Mine in no way compares to those on my sidebar - but I dream of one day having as many visitors as those ladies and then being able to be as generous.

Just Magnolia Challenge #15

Hope I'm not too late getting this one submitted. Love this little Tilda. Used an old suitcase stamp from Art Impressions, sentiment is from Gina K's Bug Me Anytime, Basic Grey dp and colored with Copics.
Did you sign up for my candy? It's not much compared to some of those being shown on my side bar ...but if I ever reach the number of visitors those ladies have...I can do the same thing LOL

A Spoon Full of Sugar's Challenge #60

Love this little Tilda (well, I love them all!) for this challenge. I had some large scraps from my Basic Grey and was able to use them in this sketch. Ran the whole background mat through cuttlebug. Used assorted flowers, eyelets and brads. I pieced her dress and shoes with additional scraps (try to use them up, I'm over "stocked" with scraps). She is colored with Copics.

Friday Sketcher's Challenge #61

Special wishes - love the sentiment and this adorable Tilda! This challenge allowed me to use the huge scallop die cut from Stampin Up. Can't go wrong with the Basic Grey designer paper, nestabilities rectangles, little Marvy scallop punch for sentiment....pearls, pearls, pearls! and I had these little star buttons from somewhere - clipped off the back of the buttons so they would lay flat. It worked - now I will stalk the stores for sales on old buttons :) I didnt have enough of the star buttons to put them to the side of the image (as the sketch showed), so I used scrap ribbon. Dotted Stickles through out the blooms on the paper and all over her wings.

Not sure if I will be stamping any more this week ...bummer!!! very busy time at work right now. However, I am so excited about this weekend. Several friends and I are headed to North Carolina to stay with dear friends AND go to the stamping convention in Winston-Salem. This also means a trip to the Enchanted Cottage!! Have been saving my money for weeks - the Enchanted Cottage alone will kill my credit card LOL. If you've never been to the EC...GO...and prepare yourself! You will be overwhelmed with choices on everything to do with cardmaking or scrapbooking. Will take some pictures of the place and convention and post them next week.

Thanks for stopping by - please say Hello and comments are always appreciated !!!!!!

Copic Creations Challenge #7 and Friday Sketchers #59 and Just Magnolia Week 12

Love these little Tilda stamps. This card covers 3 challenges, check them out at
http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/
http://copiccreations.wordpress.com/
and
http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/

The charm on this card is the last charm I have !! time to go to my local craft store....any excuse, right? Just got the new Lemonade papers from Basic Grey and had to cut into them right away. They are so pretty!! I wanted to match Tilda with the colors in the paper. Matted her on Temptin Turquoise to try and bring out some of the little blue flowers on the paper. The inside of the card just has the side stamped with the same butterfly stamps behind Tilda and a piece of the dp from the front of the card. Cute and Quick! that's the kind I like LOL
Another night of insomnia - oh well, tomorrow is Saturday so will hopefully sleep in.
yeah, right :)

HAPPY 4th of July !!

Copic Creations Challenge #5

Well, my first challenge.
It's Challenge No 5 - Clear or transparent items from http://www.copiccreations.wordpress.com/ ending June 15th (the winner will receive items from Gina K Designs).
AND I learned a lesson! Being new at this, I thought how clever of me that I had actually also used a sketch from another challenge. Just so proud, right? ~ wrong!! I thought had saved the site where the sketch I used is located, but....I didnt. I have just spent literally half the day looking for that site :(
and, for some reason, my camera has decided to give me some trouble. I apologize for the darkness of the pictures.
So I have given up looking for the sketch challenge site and now going to go drown my irritation at myself and the waste of the afternoon (well, not really - I looked at so many creative blogs with such beautiful cards -and looking forward to taking mine up to a whole new level) ...in the biggest steak n cheese sub and fries I can find...providing my hubby will agree to eat out LOL

I know - I just did a card with this Tilda - but she is so adorable. I pieced the top of her umbrella for more dimension and the matted image is raised on the card.
Hoping to get several more cards done tonight - actually considering trying my first challenge ever - hmmmmmm, will I do it?

she is so sweet! just works for any occasion. Since this card is 4.25 x 5.50 there isnt a lot of room for more embellishments. Another storm is stopping and starting (but not anywhere near as bad as yesterday's)...going to get off now before storm starts up again

Tilda with butterflies

Wanted to try my butterfly punch! I hope they stay "popped-up n open" after they've been in an envelope. I secured Tilda's head and shoes with SU dimensionals and used double stick tape to the rest of the body. I was trying to make her look like she was leaning forward slightly. You can tell it on the card but I dont think the pictures show it very well.... now I'm off to work on more of these adorable little Tilda's !!

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

She is sooo cute! I added "raindrops" and a small puddle of water, that are hard to see. You can see that my cards with "Tilda" are not as embellished as many of the card blogs using the same stamp. Partly because my cards are the standard A2 (5.5 x 4.25) while others prefer the larger 5x5 card, so there is just so much room!
This card will be posted for sale in my Ebay store. Thanks for looking :)
