Creative Clear Stamps "Anything But a Card" challenge

Loved this challenge! I had been wanting to give a co-worker this project so she could see another way to use some of her stamps!
3x3 cards are sooo handy to have ...I made these little notecards for her to have to use on those last minute "baked" or candy gifts! envelopes were also included... the inside of the notecards have just a blank piece of white cardstock for her personal note.

Creative Clear Stamp set Holiday Sentiments provides so many perfect sentiments for the holidays!
cardstock: dp and cardstock from SU
ink: memento black
embellishment: nesties, MS punch
technique: matting

It's going to be a  crazy busy weekend - for all of us, right!!! - going to shop for Grankids tomorrow...wooohoooo!!

Have a blessed day,

Creative Clear Stamps "DP" challenge - to use 2

Made this card the other day for the challenge to use only two designer papers...easy challenge and I thought I would do a CAS card.....which are actually tough for me - I always want to fill up the "space"..

two trees are paper pieced using Basic Grey - tree stamp is from the Let It Snow set  and the sentiment is from the Holiday Sentiments set....
ribbon from Michael's and nestie for the sentiment
I did color around the trees for some dimension and added a little yellow with SU marker.

Feelin some better - just wish I could breath and eat at the same time LOL
no fever so I am "on the mend"...actually looking forward to some friends being here this morning. We are going to make 25 cards for our missionaries - behind this year, so going to do this "assembly line" style!

Have a blessed day,
love being on vacation (long sigh .....)

Glitter Window tutorial - if you don't know this one - it's fun and easy!

The Design Team Members for Creative Clear Stamps each do a tutorial once a month. This month I've chosen the technique "Glitter Window"...always love glitter but it can be so messy! this one is a "messy-proof" way to glitter up those cards.

Here are the tools needed to create this A2 card.
I decided to go with Red and used designer paper with reversed matching sides and coordinated red cardbase. You will need to cut  mat 4 x 5.25" (darker red piece) and top lighter piece at 3.75 x 5". It's the top piece you will be working with - don't let pictures confuse you since (for this card) when its turned over it matches the bottom piece!

Need clear packing tape, ink, stamped image, nesties (or punch) and glitter.
I am using a sentiment from Creative Clear Stamp set "Holiday Sentiments"

you can see I have already stamped my image, using red ink onto white cardstock.

dont let this confuse you, the above piece is the smaller piece of cardstock that has had the piece cut out with the nestie. It is turned over so you are looking at the BACK of the top piece. Take the packing tape and cut it to fit over the cut out area with the sticky side facing down. When applying the packing tape, try not to press down. The sticky part of the tape will want to stick to the surface you are working on...I press down on one corner and then carefully turn it over so the sticky side is now facing up...now you can press on cardstock to adhere the packing tape.

With the sticky side now facing you, scoop your glitter and apply it over the cut out window...I probably made this more confusing using the coordinating cardstock, but you make one card...and you are off and running...it's sooooo easy! but if you've never done one, can seem confusing...like anything we first try...

Once you've covered it with glitter, then dump your glitter back into your "glitter holder" (mine is the ever popular Glad Wrap disposable LOL) and tap off excess. You can press the glitter down to be sure there isnt any loose glitter. IT WON'T  COME OFF!!
Now you can apply your stamped image, just line it up with the glitter window!
here's my card!

I adhered my ribbon, adhered the lighter piece with the window to the darker mat, then adhered that to the white mat (added that at last minute so it isnt in top pic, sorry) and adhered that to the cardstock!   WHEW..."whole lotta ahere'ing going on..." LOL
Outlined my nestie opening with red marker, and added one of the "lollipop" flowers...
hmmmmm, pic doesnt show the glitter window too well, here's another pic

well, dont think I am very clear on directions...but hope you got the idea!
really is very un-messy way to use glitter!

Tip:  the finer the glitter, the better! the chunky glitter is harder to see through....

Have a blessed day,

challenge - use only ONE tool I'm thankful for ...

This week's challenge at Creative Clear Stamps was to make a card using only ONE tool that we are most thankful for....wow! ok that was tough! for me...it was toss up between cuttlebug and nesties...or maybe embossing powders and watercolors, pencils....or maybe ribbon, ribbon, ribbon!!!! or maybe....well, you get the idea...so I chose the Cuttlebug (with ribbon on the side LOL)....a girl HAS to have her ribbon...I think it's a "constitutional right" or something :)))).....here it is...

see, with a cuttlebug - the card makes itself!!!! on this card I used two CB folders "Herringbone" and "Holly Ribbons" and matted white onto black.
I dont usually use alphabet stamps (I would imagine scrapbookers use them all the time) but these are adorable!

Stamp: Creative Clear Stamp set "Stick Alphabets"
Paper: SU's Pomegranate, white and black
Ink: SU's Pomegranate
Embellishment: SU's ribbon

Hope you are enjoying the day after the Thanksgiving feast!  I know I am....family is still here from North Carolina and Florida and we are just lazin around....love it!!!!

a "lollipop" flower card

Good thing I finally checked my blog...this was to have posted yesterday for Creative Clear stamps! I thought had set it to pre-post but obviously didn't.....the challenge this week was to create any card BUT an A2 card....
so I pulled out the huge circle scalloped die cut from Sizzix and made my card base, ran it through CB folder.
Since the "lollipop" flowers seem to be really "in" right now...I watched several videos and decided to do a large one for the front of this card......seriously......, I don't think I'm a fan of these flowers...or at least not mine!
They ARE a great way to use up paper scraps! I have made about a dozen....you'll see some on a few cards I'll be posting....maybe it's just that they are new and different and I'm old and set!!!  LOL

Cardbase is SU's Sage Shadown with edges sponged in Always Artichoke...dp from scaps (and that's what I like about these...use those scraps!!!)

I havent made as many cards as I had dreamed... BUT...my stampin room is almost clean!!! I will proudly tell ya I have gotten rid of FIVE 13 gallon trash bags from my little "stampin/office/tv watching with laptop" room....well, I told you I was buried in there.. LOL

feeling organized and clean n fresh!
Have a blessed day tomorrow - so much to be thankful for....

ps...please dont be shy...what tips are out there for these flowers

kinda got side tracked from challenge! and a prayer request

This week's challenge at Creative Clear Stamps was to use Ruby Red, Kraft and Caramel...well.. had this card all laid out but this new ribbon ....kept calling my name!!! so...switched out the Kraft mat for this asparagus mat - (even have metallic paper that matches ribbon perfectly)...so bye bye challenge....
HELLO to my card...LOL

the only things about this card I can definitely tell you is that the ribbon is from Michaels and the sentiment is from Creative Clear Stamps "Holiday Sentiments" stamp set....sentiment stamped in Ruby Red...used my new MS punch (that I love and had to have after seeing some of you use it...enablers...ALL of you...LOL)
base cardstock is SU's Ruby Red and asparagus is from GinaK...dp from stash!

Now, have a prayer request for a dear friend who two weeks ago had her 7th child!!! but her mother passed away this morning. My friend is sick and 2 of her kids had swine flu last week and now 2, possibly 3, have it now. She is having to travel a few hours away with the 2 youngest and her husband to help with funeral arrangements and leaving the other 5 to be cared for....and she is sick herself...she and hubby really need prayer!
Thank you so much!

BLOG HOP for Creative Clear Stamps - 5 winners!!!!!

as promised...my cards for the hop are "Quick and Easy" aka QnE  lol....here we go!

sponged sentiment using Memento's Ruhbarb...ran cranberry tart cs from GinaK through cuttlebug, nestie cut and embossed sentiment, added ribbon....voila!!!  done...see QnE

cut All Spruced Up and Asparagus cs from Gina K, SU dp and used scrap of All Spruced Up and Basic Grey....assembled card onto All Spruced Up cs...then stamped tree from the Let It Snow set by Creative Clear Stamps, outlined it with SU markers, stamped sentiment onto white cs, used nestie to cut/emboss and then sponged SU Garden Green. Made a bow out of SU green grosgrain....used paper piercer to punch two little holes to run gold cord through and scotch taped the ends on the back...then added bow...done...few more steps...but still another QnE!!

cut cranberry and night of navy, ran cranberry through cuttlebug, highlighted some swirls with grey SU marker. have a postage stamp that I used (BUT you dont need the postage stamp) and inked the sentiment, did lighter background in caramel with a cute swirl stamp I have (matched the cuttlebug swirl) and stamped it again with caramel inked square stamp...cut them out and matted onto navy. Stamped the swirl stamp again on piece of scrap white in SU rose red and outlined with SU grey marker.  Assembled..and then used adhesive mini silver nail heads and randomly placed on card....again, didnt need the postage stamp - would have looked just as nice if two blocks had only been the rectangles...it's the decorative scissors that help!
anyway, took me almost as long to type this out as it did to make the card!!!!
another QnE one!!

Tip:    for those of you starting out, invest in good decorative and good cutting scissors...when I started I bought the super cheap ones but they stopped giving a clear cut very quickly...recommend Fiskars decorative scissors and CutterBee for everything else! just my opinion :)

Snowmen n Scallops! oh my.....

This week at Creative Clear Stamps, we've been challenged to do a card with scallops! simple n easy!  but wait, one of our DT Members saw "scallops" in a turkey's tail....feathers! ... ok, the challenge bar was raised....how to think "outside the box" and see some scallops! (of course one DT Member has the cutest turkey with a "fro"...but that's another story!!) back to my scallops! looked at my stamp set...(Let It Snow from Creative Clear Stamps).....and looked....and looked...couldn't see a scallop............

so I just decided that everything I did on this card was going to be done with scallops! AND I wanted to share two different applications for snow...did you know that Puffy Paint would do the exact same thing as Liquid Applique...you did!!!!  wellllll, did you know that Liquid Applique would do the exact same thing then as Puffy Paint...hahahahaha  (hey all... it's like midnight here.. and I worked all day..)  SOOOO, if you did already know this...then stop reading and just scroll down to the finished card  LOL

But if you didn't, then maybe you will find this helpful....here goes!

These are the two items, check out the huge difference in size! hmmmmm, wonder which is the better deal??

here is my scallop card, ready to add the snow..glad I have a picture so you can see there really are scallops

adding the Liquid Applique

next step, is to heat set...you will see the snow rise as you apply the heat! don't get too close, will burn your snow....you don't want yellowed snow :)))))

next, applying the Puffy Paint

application is the same, you can see the Puffy paint is whiter! you can obtain the same thickness with the Liquid App by just applying more...you heat set the Puffy also

now, can you really tell a difference!!! mmmm, maybe - the PP is whiter (I think)

now here is my finished card!  I think they're making snow angels...

added some glitter AND stickles ....n

"Let It Snow"

NOW POP ON OVER TO CREATIVE CLEAR STAMPS and ENTER the SCALLOP CHALLENGE! where can YOU see scallops ... that the rest of the world doesn't .......LOL!!!

hope this was helpful to someone!
Have a blessed day,
