Thinking of You in Pink and Black

The main strip across this card was done a few weeks ago. I'm not even sure how I made it! I remember just rubbing the strip in watered color of some sort - markers or ink or paint. At any rate, it finally made it on to a card. I matted it with pink and then black. I stamped the design image across the top and the bottom. (The image is from Tattered Angels.) I die-cut the sentiment and added it to the strip.

Very Simple Guy Birthday

The other day, I pulled out a set of Tattered Angels stamps that I received when I was on a design team many years ago. I made this super-simple guy card with one of them. The stamp is the "screen-y" pattern done in blue. I simply added a die-cut sentiment over it. I matted with black and used a white card base.

Die-Cut Ornaments

A friend had this die at our Group Gathering in Des Moines. I do not know what brand it is. I made four cards using the pieces that I made there. I cut it twice from white, green and red.

For this first card, I used the leaves and ornament cut from green and red. I also cut the ornament hanger from silver and used it on this one and one other. Before putting the pieces together, I stamped the ornament with a Tattered Angels stamp and embossed with white. I matted the panel with red and mounted on foam squares. The sentiment is from a Recollections set.
For this one, all of the pieces are white. I stamped the leaves with the same Tattered Angel stamp as the first one and I stamped the ornament with a stamp from the Recollections set. Again, I matted with red and mounted on foam squares, and again, the sentiment is from Recollections.
I used white pieces again for this one. I colored the thin borders and the ornament hanger with Copics. I used the Tattered Angels stamp for the leaves and the Recollections stamps for the ornament.
Again I used red and green pieces for this one. I stamped the ornament with the Tattered Angels stamp and embossed with clear embossing powder. I used the silver for the hanger. Like the others, the image panel is mounted on foam squares.

"Loon-y" Birthday

Another "guy" card for my stash. While I had my Tattered Angels stamp set out last week, I stamped this frame and cut it out. Then I had to figure out what to do with it. I thought a nice loon would work well, so I used the Repeat Impressions stamp and stamped it with gray. I trimmed it down to fit under the frame, which I had mounted on foam squares. I embossed the cat tails on the left side with a Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! I stamped it to match the frame, and I also used matching cardstock to mat the bottom layer.

Edited to add: The embossing folder that I used on this card is a border folder. No trick involved - just used the narrower folder! :)

Touch of Nature

Another card using the same set from Crafty Secrets as yesterday's card - very similar. Again, the background stamp is from Tattered Angels and the flowers and sentiment are from the Crafty Secrets set. This time I used the same color as yesterday for the stamped background (different stamp) but I used black to stamp the flowers and then I colored with Copics.  I cut the panel with a Memory Box die and matted with dark green. The patterned paper on the left side is from a matstack I've had for SO many years and have never used - by Jodie Lee. I matted it with the same dark green. I also mounted the image panel on Pop Dots. Not sure what this card could be used for, but I do like the way it turned out:)

Hello

A simple card today, and a short break from my Stampin' Up! project.

I've had this Crafty Secrets stamp set for several years, and I don't think I've ever used it. The stamps from the Crafty Secrets set are the flower and the "Hello." The background stamp is from a Tattered Angels set. I stamped the background and the flower in shades of green, and matted with a matching green. I cut the image and the matting with Memory Box dies.

Monkey Birthday

I had this cute little monkey sticker on my desk. He's from Sandylion - and is many years old! :) I stamped the background with a Tattered Angels stamp. The balloon was made with one of my new dies. (This balloon is the biggest one the seven!) The string was die-cut from the same set. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Fall Anniversary - and an Update

An anniversary card for Jim's brother and sister-in-law. We got married on their eleventh anniversary:) We will be celebrating our fortieth on Sunday!

You'll be seeing this main image again next fall. The images are from a set from Cloud 9. I used SU! Earth Elements inks to stamp them. First I had stamped the background (from Tattered Angels) with a soft Memories ink. I matted with shimmery gold and mounted on foam squares. The sentiment is one of my few anniversary stamps and is by PSX. I embossed it with detail gold embossing powder. The card base is ivory.

I actually had a little time in my stamping room last night. It was very nice! I cleaned it up a bit and also made my October calendar pages for next year. I was trying to come up with something for November, but couldn't. It will come to me:)

About my dad - He really, really wanted to make a trip to Colorado to visit my younger brother, so when my older brother flew up from Georgia, my dad asked him to drive out there with him. That's where they are now. My younger brother will ride home with them. They found more cancer in his neck and removed it on Monday. He will be meeting with the oncologist next Thursday to discuss radiation again. My dad has said he will not do it. We'll see what happens. It's spreading pretty fast now.

Simple Guy Card

I was doing a LITTLE organizing in my stamping room (got a new cube from Michael's for storage) and came across some stamps from Tattered Angels that I had received from a Design Team I was on. I thought I should use some of the stamps and this was the first one I started with. It rather looks like a piece of screen. I stamped it with Memento London Fog ink and matted with black and mounted on foam squares. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set. I hope to have some stamping time tonight and then again on Monday, when I don't have Wyatt.

Flutter By Wednesday #207

Time for a new Flutter By Wednesday challenge - #207. Please check out the details and the cool cards by the design team on Danni's Flutter By Wednesday challenge blog!

This is a "card parts" card. I had brayered left-over navy blue ink onto some ivory cardstock and it was sitting on my table. I liked the texture of the color, so I had kept it. The black piece at the top of the ivory/navy panel was on my table, too. I stamped the swirl (from Tattered Angels) with Night of Navy ink from Stampin' Up!. Then I stamped the sentiment (from Hero Arts) with black ink. The butterfly is punched with a Martha Stewart punch from shimmery navy paper. A note about the swirl stamp: This is the stamp I used for the wedding card that I couldn't post because I deleted it from the camera accidentally. I think I stamped it three times for that card before I realized that I wasn't doing a poor job of stamping - the stamp is just "distressed" and is "missing" parts! The card base is ivory.

One-Layer Wednesday - Swirl

I made a card yesterday afternoon for Susan's One-Layer Wednesday challenge. The challenge this week was to use a swirl. Not too tough:)

My swirly stamp is from Tattered Angels. The Thinking of You stamp is from Stampin' Up!'s All Year Cheer set. Both inks I used are Versamagic. I used a Fiskars corner rounder on the bottom corners.

Two Simple Sympathy Cards

Once again, I have been asked to donate cards to our church for the Craft Sale at our Lutefisk Dinner. They sell the cards for $1.50, so I really don't want to spend a lot of time making them! I went through my "stash" and picked out 28 to give up, and have made 12 more. Good enough:)
I made a few sets of doubles, including these for today's post. Same stamps, different colors. The swirly background stamp is from Tattered Angels. (Edited to add: Sorry! I listed the wrong company in my original post. I meant to double check BEFORE the post went "live" and then I forgot!) The sentiment is from Papertrey. I'll have more in the next few days. Not too exciting, but at least I've had some stamping time and will have something to share. :)

SplitCoastStampers Color Challenge - a Smile

I made this card for SplitCoastStampers' Color Challenge #326 - Melon Mambo, Regal Rose and Pink Pirouette. I used Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette cardstock, a Melon Mambo marker, and I substituted Rose Romance ink.

The background is stamped with a Tattered Angels stamp from Flowering Vine stamp set. The sentiment is a dollar stamp from Studio G that I picked up at Michael's on Tuesday - I loved it! The butterflies are done with a Martha Stewart punch. I used a Melon Mambo marker on the edges and I added gems for the dot on the "i" in smile and the butterfly bodies. Super simple, but it works:)
