Simple Thinking of You

Just a very simple "thinking of you" card for today. I made two of these. I had a piece of this patterned paper in 12 x 12. I cut it down to place around a can for storage in my stamping room, and had a leftover (approximately 2 1/2 x 12) piece. Hence these cards. I added a strip of the green cardstock, which I embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, and also the sentiment. I

Calla Lily in (Mostly) White

Well, here is the Calla Lily Edgeabilities card that I promised. I decided to try one without any coloring. I think it works okay, but the colored ones are probably a better choice. The sentiment is from Avery Elle and I embossed the yellow piece with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.

"Retro" Birthday

I was doing a little bit of organizing of my "card parts" last week (imagine that - more organizing! It's almost as much fun as creating) and this flower got left out on my table. I do believe the dies are from My Favorite Things. For some reason, I decided to pull out my oldest items and use them to make this card. The stamps (the stem and the two words) are from the very first Papertrey Ink set called "Paper Tray." The pink embossed strip is done with my very first border embossing folder set, and the bottom portion of the main panel was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, which was one of my first, if not THE first of MANY folders that I purchased. The flower is mounted on foam squares.

We have an Alexa Show and it is connected to photos on our computer. Lately, she has been showing photos of really old cards that I have made, and I'm amazed at how much I really like most of them! Fun. I just may have to go back and remake some of them.

Online Card Class - Day One #3

Here is another card I made for the Online Card Class I'm taking. I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. I cut the hearts and then tore the left-side edges. I inked up along the torn edges. I embossed the top and bottom layers with one of my original Cuttlebug folders and my former favorite - Dotted Swiss. The hearts were cut with Lifestyle Crafts Dies. The heart is popped up on foam squares. The sentiment is stamped in black and is from My Favorite Things. The card base is top-folding.

Color Swap - Red and Gold

Another card using a layout from last week. I made this card for the monthly color swap in my stamping group - red and gold. The sentiment is from Scrapbook.com and is embossed with gold embossing powder. The gold panels are foil and are embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. The red panels were embossed with a Darice folder.

Happy Birthday, Wyatt!!

Well, today is our youngest grandson, Wyatt's, sixth birthday. I can't believe he's six already!! This is the card that I made for him. It's called a "spinner card" I think, but I also think there are two types of "spinner cards." The theme of his birthday party is Toy Story, and his favorite characters are Forky and Buzz Lightyear. (Who knew there was now a Forky!) I used a Papertrey Ink stamp for the sentiment and a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.

Sorry about the quality of the video. I don't do videos! But, I thought this might be helpful.

Die-Cut Birthday

I used a friend's die to cut the front of this card out of foil cardstock. I matted it with a piece of Gina K patterned paper which I embossed with a Swiss Dots embossing folder by Cuttlebug. I did that to match the dots on the die, which you can barely see on the top and bottom.

Yellow and Black Butterfly

The last card (for now) I made using the Hero Arts stamp and die set. This time, I stamped the butterfly wings with black ink on yellow cardstock and die-cut it. I stamped the body directly on the butterfly, and again on the square of yellow. I added the sentiment, from Maya Road. I matted that panel with black. I also added a black layer, which I embossed with a Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder.

More Birthday Flowers

I almost forgot I had this card to post. I used the same flower stamps as this card, but I didn't use the dies on this one. The stamps are all from Papertrey Ink. I added some orange gems for the flower centers. The tiny butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I added a purple gem to each of them. I also used a fine-point black marker to draw around the edges of them to match the black on the edges of the flowers, and to add antennae. The image panel is matted with green and mounted on foam squares. The second panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and matted with the same green.

More "Card Parts"

I've had these two frames in my "card parts" for several years. I'm so happy to have finally used them. I do believe they were stamped and cut with Stampin' Up! products - probably stamped and punched.

For this first one, I found a flower that I liked from an Inkadinkado set and stamped it in the middle. I colored it with Copics and mounted it on foam squares. The leaves were some I die-cut at our Group Gathering. I embossed the white panel with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder and matted with matching coral cardstock. The sentiment is from a Papertrey set.
For this second one, I used Papertrey stamps. I again mounted on foam squares. I added a piece of black rickrack that's been sitting around for quite a while. It may have been left over from the card class we took in Des Moines in June. I added these pieces to a white panel and added to the card base.

Tagger's Dozen #3

Here is the third (and last) card that I made with the Stampin' Up! set called "Tagger's Dozen." It's the flowers and "happy for you." I used markers to ink it up and stamped on white. I matted it with the scrap of dark purple textured cardstock. Then my eyes fell on the border. I stamped it a few years ago and die-cut it. (I am pretty sure it is Stampin' Up!, also.) I recently cut out the center with a craft knife and put foam squares on the back. It was ready to be used. Perfect timing! I was able to trim down the white image panel a little bit, which is all that was necessary, and then added the border over it. The background was embossed with my former-favorite-now-sadly-neglected Swiss Dots folder from Cuttlebug. I thought it was a good match for the dots on the border stamp. Oh, and I added tiny yellow gems to the flower centers.

Elephant Birthday Wishes - and an Update on my Dad

Another card made up almost entirely of "card parts" from my box.

I found the little elephant, cut from chipboard of some kind with a Cuttlebug die, the white panel embossed with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, and the patterned pink part, done with my Letterpress. I just put them together, added gems for the elephant's eyes, the sentiment from Hero Arts, and a piece of pink ribbon. Oh, and I also first sponged on some gray ink on the elephant.

It's been a while since I've mentioned anything about my dad. He is doing GREAT!! He has his taste back already and can eat whatever he wants with no problems! The weather down in Atlanta hasn't been the greatest, but it's been better than Minnesota:) He'll be back home in about a month or so, and we'll celebrate his 90th birthday with an Open House.

February Calendar Page

February already! Here is my calendar page. If you are interested in printing your own (blank) calendar pages, you can find the links under my blog title.

The heart was punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I embossed with a heart Cuttlebug folder. I embossed the red paper with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. Happy February! Oh - I forgot to mention that I also embossed the bottom with another Cuttlebug folder.

For You - Part Two

Here is the other card I made using the last two stamps of the Stampin' Up! set called "For You."

I stamped the image on scrap cardstock, colored the pocket/vase? with Copics, and cut it out. I stamped the image again on a larger piece and added the sentiment underneath it. I colored the image with Copics. I mounted the pocket on foam squares and added it to the second image. I matted with pink cardstock. I embossed the background with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. I sponged the edges before adhering to the card base and then added the image panel.

For You, Mom

As I said in my last post, I bought this file for my Cameo Silhouette with the intention of making my mom a Mother's Day card with it. Since it appears that I will not be making her a Mother's Day card, I made her this card instead. It's not really a valentine, just an "I Love You" card.

I matted the pink piece with red and mounted on foam squares. I embossed the background piece with my Swiss Dots folder.

February Calendar Page

Funny how having your mom in the hospital (and being away from home) can make you forget about life's unimportant things. So, here is February's calendar page.

The heart panel was cut using my Cameo Silhouette from pink and red cardstock. The background was embossed with a Swiss Dots folder and I used my Scor-Pal to add a line below the embossing.

Update on my mom: She is about the same.  She is not eating (well, VERY little) and they are not giving her any nutrition. She is only being hydrated through her IV. They did start radiation on her brain on Monday, so she'll have her fourth treatment of ten this afternoon. She is still fully aware of everything going on around her and can talk to us and let us know what she wants and doesn't want. My dad brings her a little something from home every day. She has had lots of visitors and lots of phone calls. Both of my brothers and my sister are in town from out of state. We just take things day by day, but I believe she is comfortable. That is the goal - to keep her comfortable. If she makes it until next Friday, we'll have to figure out where to move her. Thanks again for your continued prayers for my mom, my dad and the rest of my family.

Simple Stair-Step Birthday

Well, this is my last daisy like this. I did it - I used something up! Of course, now I will be missing them:) I wanted to do something a little different with this last daisy - different than my usual white, yellow and black daisy cards. I happened to have some stair-step cards cut and scored and decided to use one of those. (You can find the directions and videos on-line, but if you want to check out my previous stair-step cards and instructions, you can find them here.)
I embossed the matting on the card front with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. I had this die cut sitting on my table from when I was experimenting with new dies and my Grand Calibur. I really didn't know what I would do with a piece like this, until I realized it kind of looked like leaves, if I covered up the circle part:) I added another die cut piece in the middle section. The sentiment is from an old Stampin' Up! set. I added some scoring and some more Swiss Dots and matted with the same green as the die cuts.

A Cheery Hello

I made this card is for yesterday's SplitCoastStampers Free 4 All challenge. The challenge was to make a card specifically for someone and mail it out. This card for the woman who cut my hair for MANY years but moved away to Arizona. She has sent me a Christmas card the last couple years, but I hadn't reciprocated. So, I'm sending her this card (along with our Christmas letter) to say hello and thanks.

The bottom layer was embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. The yellow and white layers were cut with Spellbinders dies. I added a flower with gems for the center. The sentiment was cut with my Cameo Silhouette.

Yet Another Butterfly Birthday!

This is the card I made for our daughter for her birthday, which was yesterday. She and her family are the ones that I got my Cameo Silhouette from, so I thought it was only fitting that the card I made for her used shapes cut with it!

There were four pieces cut with the Silhouette - the purple butterfly, the black butterfly, the green "holey" circle and the ivory circle. I glued the butterfly right to the circles and then mounted the circles on foam squares. I embossed the ivory background with a Swiss Dots folder and then matted with the same green. The sentiment is from TPC Studio. I also added Star Dust Stickles to the black butterfly.

Happy Anniversary, Joanne and Mark!

Today is the anniversary of a friend from my stamping group. This is the card they received from me.

The little birdies are from a Studio G set and were colored with markers, cut out, and mounted on foam squares. The ovals were cut with Nestabilities, and the white one was embossed with a Swiss Dots folder. The sentiment is from Stampendous. Happy Anniversary, Joanne and Mark!
