Simple Daisy Birthday

I used a friend's dies to cut this daisy. I colored the flower center and the stem and popped it up on foam squares. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! The card base is ivory.

By Amelia

We have been lucky enough to have our granddaughter spend several days with us. Awesome!! She and I have had some (but not enough!) time in my stamping room. She personally made both of these cards - she did the stamping and the coloring. I helped with the cutting, but then she did the gluing. I am so impressed! She is in fifth grade - age ten and a half.

The main image on this first card is from Gina K. She colored with Copics. The sentiment and the heart stamp are from The Paper Company.
The flower spray and the butterflies on this card are from Inkadinkado. They are also colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!

I am adding these last two pieces because, again, I am so impressed. She just drew these in a few seconds so that she could practice her coloring! They look like stamps to me. :)

Botanical Garden #3

My third card using the Stampin' Up! set called "Botanical Garden." And it's even simpler than Friday's card! :)

While trying to figure out what I wanted to do with this stamp, I thought I would go with a light blue background. For some reason, I thought I had some light blue embossing powder (that I had never used) and I was right. So, I stamped the image with Versamark ink and embossed with the light blue powder. My plan was to color the flowers, but I liked it so much plain, that I just left it. I matted with matching blue cardstock. It's very rare for me to not put a sentiment on my cards, but this one seemed right without one.

Happy Anniversary, Lucy and David!

This card uses the last stamp (except for the words) from the Stampin' Up! set called "Baroque Motifs." The stamps from the set are the swirls in the background and the medallion.

I stamped the background with Versamark and used a new jar of embossing powder from Michael's called Glitz. It's the same as my old one called Iridescent Sparkle. I did the same with the medallion stamp, then I trimmed around the edges and mounted on foam tape. Since it sort of resembled a flower, I used a swirly die from Spellbinders to cut "leaves" from green textured cardstock. I matted with black and added sheer black ribbon. Actually, I added the ribbon and THEN I matted! :) I cut the tag with an old Sizzlits die from Sizzix. I stamped the sentiment using a stamp from Papertrey Ink. I inked up the whole tag with my Versamark and used the same Glitz embossing powder. Then I inked it again with Versamark a couple times and added some thick embossing powder. I've tried to capture the multi-colored effect of the embossing powder.

This card is for one of my oldest (well, not really the oldest! We've just been friends almost forever!) friends and her husband on their anniversary. Their anniversary was yesterday, but I wanted to give her time to open the card before seeing it here. Happy Anniversary, Lucy!

Smorgasborders #3 and 4

The next two cards using the Stampin' Up! set called "Smorgasborders." The stamp is the border stamp. I stamped it with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers. I embossed the bottom panel with a Cuttlebug folder. I matted both with bright blue cardstock. The image panel is mounted on foam squares. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
A very simple card to be used as a wedding or anniversary card. Sorry for the not-so-good picture. I stamped the image with Versamark ink and embossed with detail silver embossing powder. I matted with shimmery silver cardstock and popped it up with foam squares.

Stay tuned for the last two cards with this set tomorrow:)

Petite Posies

Here is the card I made using the Stampin' Up! set called "Petite Posies." The set consists of 13 small stamps. I made this card complete. The sentiment is from Hampton Art.
I made the image/sentiment panels for six more cards using the rest of the stamps. I just need to glue them on to card bases when I need them. I don't use many thank you cards and I hesitated to finish them all up. When I figure out what I'm going to do with them, I will complete them. (Update on this: I did finish all of the cards and mailed them to the winner of this card. Hope you like them, Nikki!)

Always

This card uses stamps from four different Stampin' Up! sets. The background was stamped using another stamp from "Itty Bitty Backgrounds." The heart is from "Hello Again," the shadow-stamped circle is from "Little Shapes" and the sentiment is from "Small Script." The image panel is mounted on foam squares.

Much Appreciated - Part One

The sentiment on this card is from the Stampin' Up! set called "Much Appreciated." I guess this is actually Part Two, since I already used one of the four stamps in this set on another card.

I used a die cut that I cut at our Group Gathering in June. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure who it's made by. I sponged gray ink over it and mounted it on foam squares. I already had the background paper on my table with a circle die-cut out of it, waiting to be used.

Itty Bitty Borders - and Sky Diving??

Here are the four cards I made with the retired Stampin' Up! set called "Itty Bitty Borders." I also used sentiment stamps from a couple other sets in my current stack of ten sets. They are all the same layout. I stamped each border stamp three times across the strip.

For this first card, I used the holly and berry stamp, colored with Copics and matted with red. The sentiment is from the set called "Small Script."
A thank you card using the lady bug border stamp. Again, I colored with a Copic marker. I punched the "THANKS" with a Martha Stewart border punch.
A thank you card using the leaves stamp and colored with Copics. The sentiment is from the SU! set called "Much Appreciated."
The flower stamp, colored with Copics and matted with green. The sentiment is from the "Small Script" set.

UPDATED TO ADD: Our skydiving was canceled for today due to the weather. I guess there was storm coming in and there were too many wind gusts. We'll have to reschedule. Trying to work this out with the five of us could be a little challenging, but I'll keep you posted.

This morning I will be doing something I have wanted to do for a while - sky diving! My sister (who did this last August in Georgia with our sister-in-law) forwarded me information about a Groupon for sky diving. Unbeknownst to me, she had also forwarded it to our dad. When he said he was in (at age 89!), I really had no choice but to say that I was in, too! Today is the day. I'll let you know how it goes. My sister's son and a friend of hers will be jumping, too. And we WILL be doing tandem dives - not jumping on our own.

Festive Friends - Tags

I had a rather productive day in my stamping room yesterday while Wyatt was napping and last night while Jim was golfing, so I have posting material for a few days now. Yahoo!

The next set of Stampin' Up! stamps I'm sharing with you today is called "Festive Friends." It, like most of the others I've used so far, consists of four stamps. I decided to make Christmas tags using this set, since it has a "To/From" stamp. I simply stamped these with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers. Then I matted them. I used some Stickles on the angel wings and the snow under the snowman.

Super Simple Hello

I made a super-simple "Hello" card this morning. I used a retired Stampin' Up set that has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks called Sweet Shapes. I stamped the dots with Mauve Mist and the sentiment with Elegant Eggplant. I matted with Elegant Eggplant cardstock and punched the butterfly using the eggplant cardstock and a Martha Stewart punch. I added the "pearl" with a Viva Pearl Pen. It was nice to have a little stamping time. I made a card last night, too, but you won't see it for a few days as it's going to be mailed later to a friend who reads my blog:)

Speedy Recovery to Owen

Our grandson, Owen (three and a half years old) had tubes put in his ears and had his adenoids out yesterday. Everything went well and hopefully he will STAY well for a long time. He's pretty much been sick since he started preschool/daycare in January. This is the card I made for him yesterday.

I stamped the background of the pocket with a long-retired Stampin' Up! background stamp called Just Jeans. I stamped the stitching using another retired SU set called Pocket Fun and cut it out. I stamped the frog (from the Pocket Fun set, also), colored with Copic markers, and cut it out. I added googlie eyes. I also added some "rivets" to the corners of the pocket. I mounted the pocket and frog on foam squares. The background was made using a Cuttlebug Diamond Plate embossing folder and silver shimmery paper. I matted with black. The sentiment is from another SU set called Curvy Verses, which I assume is also retired. I matted each piece with black and mounted them on foam squares, too.

Blue Thanks

The "card part" on this card was the punched "THANKS" piece. I had made that using a Martha Stewart border punch. I trimmed it down and cut a piece of white to fit on it. Then I wasn't sure what to do. So, I grabbed an ancient Stampin' Up! two-step stamping set and stamped the flowers and stems. I'm excited to use this set again some time soon! There are a few different flowers.

Two Baptism Cards

Our grandson, Wyatt, and his cousin, Noah, were baptized this morning. (Their moms are sisters.) These are the cards I made for them - yesterday.

I used the same stamps for both cards. They are from a Stampin' Up! set called Special Blessings. (It's the same set I used for Wyatt's brother, Owen, three years ago.) For Wyatt's card, above, I used Versamark and pewter embossing powder for all of the stamping. I cut out the dove and mounted him on foam squares. I cut the circles with Spellbinders dies and mounted them on foam squares, too. The matted part of the sentiment is also on foam squares. I embossed the background with a Cuttlebug folder. The matting is a thicker pewter cardstock.
This is the card I made for Noah. I stamped the dove with Soft Sky, embossed, cut out and mounted on foam squares. I stamped the sentiment with black and matted that layer with Soft Sky cardstock. Tomorrow I'll post the baby card I belatedly made for Noah.

Thank You

I finally took some time for stamping. Making Thank You cards came to the top of my "to-do" list.

The leafy branch is from a Papertrey Ink set. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! The border on the black matting is punched with a Fiskars punch and the butterfly is punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I added a pearl for the butterfly's body and drew in the antennae with a fine-tip marker.

Hello Friend!

A little card to send along to a friend.

The flower is from the Secret Garden set from Stampin' Up! I stamped it with Primrose Petals ink. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and is stamped in SU!'s True Thyme. I sponged ink partway around the edge of my matting piece. After I even had the glue on, I decided to turn the mat around. I had initially planned to put the dark corner in the lower left. Not sure which way I like it best, but once I touched it to the paper, there was no turning back!

Another Simple "Guy" Card

I have a nephew who turns 35 next week. This is the card I made for him. Always so hard, but the main thing is to just send a card and let him know I remembered.

The main image is a retired stamp from Stampin' Up! (The set is called Vivid Greetings.) I stamped it with Midnight Muse. I only have five of the new ink pads from SU!, but I sure do like the way they work. The bottom layer is also Midnight Muse. I embossed it with a Cuttlebug folder. That's it, and it will work just fine:)

Flutter By Wednesday - Any Creature With Wings

This week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is the ever-popular - any creature with wings! Simply create your card using a fairy, butterfly, or any other creature with wings, and link it up to the Flutter By Wednesday blog. If we reach fifty or more entries, there will be a prize!

It's a little hard to see in the picture, but the butterfly is a dark purple with a black lacy overlay. They were cut with a Memory Box die. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! set. I used the sketch from this week's CAS on Sunday challenge.

Baby Congrats - Boy and Girl

Two baby cards for today - one for a boy and one for a girl, but otherwise identical. The stamps are from Recollections. The square punches are from EK Success and Martha Stewart. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! and it is punched out with a Stampin' Up! punch.
Wyatt gained a LITTLE weight after having his feeding tube removed. That was great! It's quite possible he will get to go home soon! I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for your prayers.

Christmas Sunday

It's Sunday, so that means it's the day for me to post any Christmas cards I've made during the week. This week I have two.  Not much to either of them, but that's the way I like it! :)

This first one is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I added some red grosgrain ribbon and a sentiment - from Hampton Arts Outlines. The white embossed layer is glued to the card base.
The tag on this second one was in my card parts pile. The stamp and the punches that were used are both from Stampin' up! The embossing was done with a Cuttlebug border folder and the ribbon is from Martha Stewart. I also embossed a couple lines under the embossing with my Scor-Pal.

I'm linking these cards to the Christmas Card Challenge blog.
