Rachel White is a single, talented attorney working in a New York law firm. After too many drinks on her 30th birthday, Rachel grabs a cab with Dex and playfully reveals she has had a crush on him since law school. The problem is, Dex is also her best friend Darcy's fiancé. They wake up in bed together the next morning to Darcy calling both of their phones. Dex sneaks out and they do not have time to speak about what happened between them. What Rachel thinks is a one night stand, is actually the beginning of an emotional roller coaster once Dex tells Rachel he is in love with her too.

Ethan has been friends with Darcy & Rachel since childhood. He is the only one who knows what has happened between Rachel & Dex, which he has vowed to keep secret. Meanwhile, Dex’s mother has been suffering from depression for some time and Dex & Darcy’s wedding is the only thing keeping her sane and happy. When Dex skips out on 4th of July weekend in the Hamptons to stay in the City and spend time with Rachel, they run into his parents. His father suspects something is going on between the two of them and he tells Dex to end it as soon as possible. Considering his mother & father’s feelings, Dex gives Rachel the cold shoulder and leaves her to go back to Darcy (who has been partying the Hamptons all weekend with Dex’s best friend, Marcus).

As the wedding nears, Dex & Rachel are speaking less and less. Ethan moves to London for work after he becomes angry at Rachel for not standing up for herself & her feelings. Rachel flies to London to visit Ethan who then reveals that he has been in love with her the entire time and just wants to see her happy. Rachel returns to New York to find Dex sitting on her door step. He reveals he ended things with Darcy and called off the wedding. Rachel is ecstatic until Darcy ends up at her door begging to come in to talk. Dex hides and Darcy enters her apartment. She tells Rachel that she ended things with Dex and has been cheating on him with his best friend Marcus. She is also pregnant with Marcus’ child and they are very happy. Rachel gives her her blessing and Darcy proceeds to leave but only to return and ask what Dex’s jacket is doing in her apartment. Dex then comes out and Darcy figures out Rachel is the other woman. She becomes infuriated and storms out of the apartment.

Two months later, Rachel & Darcy run in to each other on the street, they have not spoken since the incident and Darcy says she is extremely happy. Rachel is happy for her. As they leave, Rachel walks around the corner to Dex sitting on a bench. They walk down the street hand in hand.

L² Comment:
Novel from Emily Griffin was produced by Hilary Swank and her gang of production team. Romance + Comedy always never fail to attract a lot of audience, but too much of this kind of film in the market already which make nothing much special for this film.

I wonder whether Kate Hudson will ever acted in other kind of film which will make her career a bit better than this. hmmm....

Bride Wars

Released Year: 2009
Directed by Gary Winick

Casted by:
Kate Hudson as Olivia "Liv" Lerner
Anne Hathaway as Emma Allen
Candice Bergen as Marion St. Claire
Chris Pratt as Fletcher Flemson
Bryan Greenberg as Nathan "Nate" Lerner
Steve Howey as Daniel Williams
Kristen Johnston as Deb
Michael Arden as Kevin
Story:
Emma Allen and Olivia 'Liv' Lerner are best friends who have planned every detail of their weddings, since first witnessing a wedding 20 years ago at the Plaza Hotel. Therefore, they both have made it a lifetime priority to be married in the same location in June.

The movie begins with the two women getting engaged at the age of 26. They then schedule their weddings with New York's most famous wedding planner, Marion St. Claire, but due to a clerical error they are scheduled to have a wedding on the same day, June 6. A week of passive aggressive hostility passes before the two women make it clear that neither will compromise, especially after Liv tries to take advantage of Emma's passive nature and outrages Emma in the process. During this time, Emma's fiancé, Fletcher, begins to show signs of being controlling.

Both women attempt to sabotage the each other's wedding, including Liv making Emma's tan turn bright orange, Emma tampering with Liv's hair dye to turn Liv's hair a shocking blue-white colour, Emma showing up to Liv's bachelorette party to out-dance her, and Emma secretly sending Liv candy to make her too fat to fit into her dress. Eventually, Emma and Fletcher get into an argument regarding Emma's manic behavior of sabotaging Liv's wedding and their friendship.

Both brides-to-be are then shown to be in the Plaza very shortly before they are due to be wed, separately. Right before Liv leaves to begin her march to the altar, she encounters Emma's father and receives his blessing; she regrets setting up a wild spring break DVD to play at Emma's wedding. She sends her best man to replace the wrong DVD with the right one, filled with childhood memories. However, thinking that the DVD is for a prank, he does not do so, dropping it into a flowerpot and muttering, "You'll thank me one day."

Emma begins her walk down the aisle but stops when the footage of her spring break is shown. She loses her temper completely and tackles Liv after sprinting to the other section of the Plaza. The two brides wrestle in their dresses on the floor while the rest of the room looks on, the people closest to the brides having decided it would be best to let the brides resolve the problem. After tussling, Emma and Liv lie on the ground panting, and then make up almost instantly. Emma stands up and walks over to Fletcher who is upset at Emma's behavior. Emma tells Fletcher that she is not the same person he fell in love with 10 years ago and that she has now changed. With that, the two tearfully call off their wedding. Liv's wedding resumes with Emma participating and, eventually, dancing with Nate, Liv's brother.

The movie picks up a year later when Emma and Liv meet up for drinks, where it's revealed that Emma married Nate. Emma and Liv also reveal to each other that they are pregnant and that their due dates are the same, March 3.

Comedy + Romance never fails to attract a lot of audience, same as this film. Hudson + Hathaway = double hot :) Though in the end of the wedding, Anne did not get marry, but she finally has her ideal man in the end which i think its kinda cool.

The whole storyline is simple and fun. A lot of laughter and a lot of sweet moments in this film that you will never wanna miss.
