Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

Released Year: 2013
Directed by Tommy Wirkola

Casted by:
 Jeremy Renner as Hansel
Gemma Arterton as Gretel
Famke Janssen as Muriel
Pihla Viitala as Mina
Thomas Mann as Benjamin "Ben" Walser
 Story:
Abandoned by their father deep in a forest, young Hansel and Gretel enter a gingerbread house and are captured by an evil, cannibalistic witch. The witch forces Hansel to continuously eat candy to fatten him up while enslaving Gretel and ordering her to prepare the oven, but the siblings outsmart her and she is roasted alive. In the fifteen years that follow, Hansel and Gretel become professional witch hunters, famed for seeking out and destroying hundreds of witches. The pair find that they are somehow immune to spells and curses, but the incident in the gingerbread house has left Hansel diabetic. He needs a shot of insulin every few hours or he will get sick and die.

Hansel and Gretel arrive in the town of Augsburg and immediately prevent Sheriff Berringer from executing a young accused witch named Mina, who Hansel decides is innocent. Mayor Englemann tells the crowd that he has hired the siblings to rescue several children who were presumably abducted by local witches. Berringer hires other hunters for the same mission in the hopes of disgracing the mayor and cementing his power. All but one of the sheriff's party are killed that night by the powerful grand witch Muriel, who sends one man back to the town tavern as a warning to the locals. Hansel and Gretel, along with the mayor's deputy Jackson, capture one of Muriel's witches and interrogate her. They discover that Muriel is preparing for the coming Blood Moon, where she plan to sacrifice twelve children in order to grant the witches an immunity to their weakness, fire. Muriel, accompanied by her witches and a troll servant named Edward, attack the town and abduct the final child. Muriel kills Jackson and launches Gretel out a window, rendering her unconscious. Gretel is rescued by Ben, a local teenager who is a fan of theirs and plans to be a witch hunter himself. Hansel grabs onto one witch's broomstick, but falls and is lost in the forest.

The next morning, Hansel is found stuck up a tree by Mina. She takes him to a nearby spring where she heals his wounds and makes love to him. Gretel searches for Hansel in the forest but is attacked by Sheriff Berringer and his posse. The men capture and beat Gretel before being stopped by Edward, who kills the sheriff and his men. Edward tends Gretel's wounds and tells her that he helped her because trolls serve witches. Hansel and Gretel reunite at an abandoned cabin, which they discover is both a witch's lair and their childhood home. Muriel appears in front of them, telling them the truth of their past. She reveals that Hansel and Gretel's mother was a grand white witch named Adrianna who married a farmer, and this is the reason Hansel and Gretel are immune to black magic. On the night of the last Blood Moon, Muriel planned to use the heart of a white witch to complete her potion. She found Adrianna too powerful and decided to use Gretel's heart instead. To get rid of Adrianna, Muriel revealed to the townspeople that Adrianna was a witch. The townspeople burned her alive and hanged Hansel and Gretel's father. Following this revelation, the siblings battle Muriel before she stabs Hansel and abducts Gretel for the ritual.

Hansel wakes up with Mina, who reveals herself to be a white witch. She heals his wounds again and uses the Abramelin grimoire that was found in the house to bless Hansel's arsenal of weapons. Hansel, Mina, and Ben head out to disrupt the Witches' Sabbath at a neaby mountain. Using the blessed guns, Hansel and Mina attack a large gathering of dark witches who came there from all over the world, massacring them and freeing the children. In the midst of the slaughter, Edward defies Muriel's orders and releases Gretel before Muriel throws him off the cliff. Some witches attempt to flee the carnage but are killed by traps, and Muriel too tries to escape on a broomstick but is downed by Ben. Hansel pursues her immediately while Gretel stops to revive Edward. Hansel and Mina follow Muriel's trail and battle her at the original gingerbread house. Muriel injures Ben and kills Mina before Gretel arrives. The siblings and Muriel then engage in a vicious fight that ends with Muriel being decapitated by Gretel, and her head being thrown into the oven, and Gretel picking up Muriel's magic wand, which responds to her touch. Back in Augsburg, they burn a heap of witches on a pyre and collect their reward.

Hansel and Gretel head out on their next hunt, now accompanied by Ben and Edward. Before the credits roll, they are all seen at work tracking down and slaying witches in a desert.

Back in the old days of western & european countries, witches are known to be evil, very well being the presenter of the halloween night, am i right? So why don't i watch a witch movie during the chinese ghost month? lol

Back to the movie, this movie is make to be the sequel of the German's folklore fairy tale "Hansel & Gratel"... i kinda like this idea, but the storyline is a bit simple and not exciting enough... the most funny thing is to see Famke Janssen as the witch haha~

Clash Of The Titans 2010

Released Year: 2010
Directed by Louis Leterrier

Casted by:
Sam Worthington as Perseus
Ralph Fiennes as Hades
Liam Neeson as Zeus
Gemma Arterton as Io
Alexa Davalos as Andromeda
Story:
The film begins with the story of the Titans. The Titans were finally defeated by their sons Zeus , Poseidon ), and Hades , when Zeus convinced Hades to create a monstrous creature, the Kraken (made from Hades' flesh). Zeus became ruler of the heavens, Poseidon became king of the seas, and Hades (tricked by Zeus) was left to rule the Underworld. Zeus created humankind, and in time, humankind began to question the gods.

A millennium later, a fisherman named Spyros finds a coffin in the sea. A baby and his dead mother are in it. Spyros adopts the boy (whom he names Perseus) and raises him as his own son. Years later, the now adult Perseus is aboard a small fishing boat with his family, when they witness a group of soldiers from Argos destroying a massive statue of Zeus, as a declaration of war against the gods. Hades appears in the form of a flock of and massacres the soldiers. After Hades has achieved victory, he destroys the fishing boat as well, drowning Perseus' family.

Perseus is found by soldiers , though this term is Roman rather than Greek), who march him into Argos. He is brought before King Cepheus and Queen [[Cassiopeia ) , during their celebration of the war on the gods. Cepheus and Cassiopeia are oblivious to the lives already lost in the newly declared war. The King makes boastful statements to disrespect the gods, and the Queen compares their daughter [[Andromeda ) to the goddess [[Aphrodite]), much to their daughter's dismay. n Mount Olympus.

Hades argues that the gods must act with vengeance against the uprising, and Zeus is extremely angered, which gives Hades the opportunity to appear before his brother o convinces Zeus that he has to be allowed to destroy Argos. Hades appears in the courtroom, kills the remaining soldiers and ages Cassiopeia to the brink of death. Hades threatens that if Princess Andromeda is not sacrificed to appease the gods within ten days, Argos will be destroyed by the Kraken. As he departs, he identifies Perseus as a Demigod. Hermes ( the Messenger God informs Zeus that his son Perseus is alive in Argos. Zeus refuses to protect his son when he learns of this.

The King imprisons Perseus, because he will not fight with Argos against the gods. ] reveals to Perseus his true lineage. In order to punish King Acrisius for his own war on the gods, Zeus disguised himself as Acrisius and seduced Danaë, impregnating her. When Acrisius set Danaë and the baby Perseus adrift in their coffin, an enraged Zeus struck Acrisius with lightning leaving him hideously disfigured. She also tells Perseus she does not age as punishment for refusing to be seduced by the god Poseidon . After learning that killing the Kraken would allow him to have his revenge against Hades (whom he blames for his family's deaths) Perseus agrees to lead Argos' finest soldiers on a quest to find the . They are joined by a pair of monster hunters named Ozal and Kucuk . Io follows as well.

Hades finds Acrisius (now called Calibos) and reveals his plan to use the Kraken to destroy Argos, thereby strengthening himself and gaining his revenge against Zeus for his betrayal after the Titan battle. Hades imbues Calibos with superhuman powers in order to kill Perseus. While in the woods, Perseus discovers a sword forged in Olympus, as well as Zeus' sacred herd of flying horses, the Pegasi. Perseus refuses both the sword, which only he can use, and Pegasus, which the gods were offering as assistance, as Perseus does not wish to become a god. Calibos attacks the group and kills nearly all the praetorian guards and tries to murder Perseus, but is forced to flee after Draco cuts off his hand. However, Calibos' blood forms giant scorpions out of the sand, which attack Perseus and kill all of the guards, except for Draco , Solon ([[Liam Cunningham , Eusebios and Ixas (.

The survivors are saved by the , a band of former human shamans who have turned themselves into the Demons of Arabian mythology, by replacing their "battle wounds with charwood and black magic." Though they do not trust the Djinn at first until their leader Sheikh Suleiman (Ian Whyte) heals Perseus' wounds. When Solon and Draco see Suleiman healing Perseus, they think he is attacking him and try to save him. Suleiman effortlessly defeats all the warriors and says that the only way to help Perseus is by them all working together. The Djinn joins Perseus' group, as they too wish to see the gods overthrown.

The heroes go to visit the Stygian witches and are told that the solution lies with the head of the Gorgon Medusa, which could kill the Kraken by turning it to stone. When Perseus is warned that his group will die in the process, all of the Djinn, except for Suleiman, leave them. Ozal and Kucuk also leave, explaining that they cannot fight in the Underworld. Perseus is visited by Zeus who offers him asylum on Mount Olympus, but he refuses. Zeus gives him a golden drachma as a means to bribe Charon, for passage into the Underworld. In the battle with Medusa (Natalia Vodianova), the Gorgon shoots Solon, and he falls to his death. Medusa kills Ixas and Eusebios by petrifying them. Perseus then lures Medusa out, and Sulieman tries to behead her but only manages to cut through a few snakes on her head. Medusa traps Suleiman by coiling her tail around him and attempts to petrify him. Suleiman cannot be petrified and he self-destructs, blasting a part of her body by using his magic. Draco then sacrifices himself by distracting the injured Medusa, so that Perseus is able to behead her. Emerging from the Underworld, Perseus sees Calibos stab Io from behind. After a short duel, Perseus kills Calibos, using the sword from Olympus, which restores Calibos to human form. With his last breath, Calibos (now Acrisius) urges Perseus not to be like the gods. Perseus watches as Io is transformed into gold dust and is swept away to Olympus. He then rides Pegasus back to Argos, with Medusa's head.

In Argos, the Cult of Hades plots to sacrifice Andromeda to the Kraken. As the Kraken is released, Hades reveals to Zeus that the destruction of Argos will give him enough power to overthrow the other Olympians, ending Zeus's reign, as revenge on Zeus for cheating him, but Zeus reveals Perseus is still alive in Argos. Although Hades sends his harpies to kill Perseus, Perseus uses the head of Medusa to turn the Kraken into stone and saves Andromeda. Cepheus stops Prokopion, the cult leader, from killing Andromeda by grabbing his burnt arm, who in turn stabs Cepheus, but both Cepheus and Prokopion are then crushed by the Kraken's stone hand. Hades appears and smugly sneers that as he is immortal, Perseus cannot kill him. Perseus retorts that Hades can live forever, but not in the world of humans. He then uses the Sword of Olympus (amplified with Zeus' lightning) and throws it at Hades, hitting him in the chest with enough force to send Hades flying back into the Underworld (through the crack from which the Kraken emerged, which closes behind Hades). Andromeda asks Perseus to become king of Argos, but he declines. Zeus again offers Perseus his place on Olympus, but Perseus declines this as well. Zeus warns him that Hades will someday return for revenge again when humankind's fear is great. Since Perseus insists on staying on Earth, Zeus (before disappearing) resurrects Io, while Pegasus flies overhead. [edit] Alternate ending The special features of the Blu-ray has an alternate ending that was cut from the film. After defeating the Kraken and Hades, Andromeda falls into the sea and Perseus dives in to save her. When he reaches her, he embraces her with a passionate kiss, indicating that he fell in love with her, and she with him. After reaching the shore and regaining consciousness, Andromeda asks Perseus if he will stay and he says there is someone he needs to talk to, before kissing her again, indicating that he will come back. Getting on Pegasus, he flies to Mt. Olympus where he confronts Zeus, stating that he does not wish to be one of them and that any conflict between them has just started. After slamming his sword into the gods' map and shattering the models of every living person, he leaves and is seen flying on Pegasus over the sea, presumably back to Argos.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Released Year: 2010
Directed by Mike Newell

Casted by:
Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan
Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamina
Ben Kingsley as Nizam
Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar
Richard Coyle as Prince Tus
Toby Kebbell as Prince Garsiv
Story:
Dastan, an orphan in the Persian Empire, commits an act of courage in a public market place and is adopted by the king because of it. Fifteen years later Dastan, his royal-blooded foster brothers, Tus and Garsiv, and his uncle, Nizam are planning an attack on the sacred city of Alamut, which is believed to be selling weapons to Persia's enemies. Despite his doubts as to whether they should attack a sacred city, and orders to avoid the front-line of the fighting, Dastan leads the way in breaching the walls of Alamut. In the confusion, the princess of Alamut, Tamina, instructs one of her guards to take a dagger from a shrine to safety. During the fight, however, Dastan defeats this guard, and steals the dagger. Alamut falls to the Persians and Tamina is captured. In order to pacify the captured city, Tus suggests that he and Tamina marry, which she agrees to only upon seeing that the dagger has fallen into Dastan's possession.

When the king of Persia arrives at Alamut, he reproaches Tus (the eldest son) for having made the decision to attack the city. He suggests that Dastan, rather than Tus should marry Tamina. Prince Dastan unknowingly presents a poisoned robe, given to him by Tus, to his father, King Sharaman who dies upon donning it. Dastan is blamed for the king's murder and flees Alamut with Princess Tamina. In their first camp, Tamina attempts to kill the prince and recover the dagger, during which Dastan finds out what the dagger is capable of and believes that Tus framed Dastan for their father's murder in an attempt to seize the throne and the Dagger. During their journey, the duo meet an ostrich racing-organizer and tax-averse shady entrepreneur Sheik Amar, with his knife-throwing African friend Seso. Dastan offers Tamina up as a slave in return for supplies, however Amar betrays him because he recognizes him as the murderer of the king, for whom there is an "obscene" price being offered. Dastan and Tamina escape and return to Persia for King Sharaman's funeral; here, Dastan attempts to convince his uncle Nizam that he did not kill his father. Dastan discovers that Tamina has taken the Dagger; however, he then notices Nizam's hands are burned. Garsiv and the city guards appear and attack Dastan and he is forced to escape.

Dastan catches up with Tamina and explains that the villainous brother of the King, Nizam, was behind the murder. He wanted the Dagger of Time to use it with the massive Sandglass to go back in time and undo saving Sharaman from a lion so he can become king: however, opening the hourglass would trigger a sandstorm that would end the world. He fabricated the false allegations that Alamut had been dealing weapons to Persia's enemies so that he would have the opportunity to search the city for the Sandglass. The pair put aside their differences and agree to work together to protect the Dagger. Meanwhile, back in Persia, Nizam tries to convince Tus and Garsiv that Dastan is trying to overthrow them and must be killed. When this fails, Nizam hires the Hassansins, a group of highly skilled warriors who once served as hired killers for Persian royalty, to slay Dastan.

Dastan and Tamina are again captured by Sheik Amar and Seso, seeking to rebuild his ruined business by turning them in for a bounty. But that night, when everyone is asleep, the Hassansin leader attacks the group by controlling a number of vipers. Many of the group die, but Dastan uses the Dagger to rewind time and foreseeing the attack, manages to kill all the snakes and saves everyone. The Hassansin leader then leaves in a sand dervish. The next day, the pair accompanied by Sheik and Seso travel to the secret sanctuary in the mountains near India, where it is possible to seal away the Dagger. However, they run into Garsiv's men. Dastan manages to persuade his brother that he is innocent, only for Garsiv to be fatally wounded by a Hassansin. The Hassansins attack, killing many of the group, while their leader manages to snatch the Dagger of Time from Tamina. However, Dastan is saved from the last Hassansin by Garsiv, who then dies of his wounds.

The group returns to Alamut to reveal the truth about Nizam and the Dagger to Tus. Seso duels to the death with a Hassansin and is mortally wounded, though he manages to kill the Hassansin and get the Dagger to the others before dying. Dastan confronts Tus and explains the Dagger's mechanics to him and then kills himself; Tus brings Dastan back to life by rewinding time and realises his brother has been innocent all along. Soon after, however, Nizam arrives and kills Tus, leaving his Hassansin guard to kill Dastan. The Dagger is once again in Nizam's hands, but Dastan manages to defeat the Hassansin with Tamina's help. Nizam goes to the Sandglass caves beneath Alamut, as Dastan and Tamina take a more secret route. After a short battle with the Hassansins' leader, fatally wounding him and sending him plummeting to his death in a chasm, Dastan and Tamina kiss. They then reach Nizam before he can pierce the Sandglass with the Dagger, but he knocks Tamina and Dastan over the edge of the chasm. Dastan holds on to Tamina but she reveals that it is actually Dastan's destiny to stop Nizam, not her's, and releases her grip on his hand; Tamina professes her love for Dastan and then lets go, falling to her death. Driven to fight on, Dastan manages to pull himself up. Nizam stabs the Sandglass with the Dagger, but Dastan grabs a hold and opens the Dagger, rather than activating it, causing the Sands of Time to flow through freely, reversing time to when Dastan first obtained the Dagger, fully aware of all that occurred since. Dastan stops the siege of Alamut, revealing Nizam's treachery. Nizam attempts to kill Dastan, but is killed by Tus. After apologizing for the ransacking of her city, Tus suggests that perhaps Tamina should become Dastan's wife as a sign of good will. The Prince returns the Dagger of Time to her. The two take a walk together and Dastan expresses his feelings for her.

Due to time consuming, i got the story review from wikipedia. What do we expect a film based on a video game? Storyline? Nope, coz its predictable. What i look at is the effect and graphic. Obviously its good and nice. Jake Gyllenhaal still being hot, never wonders Gemma would be this hot :)

Wonder whether there will be a sequel for this prince of persia...
