More Inky backgrounds with Imagination Stencils and Lavinia Stamps....

Good Morning bloggers,

I am standing in for Kirsten as she covered a few of my posts last week, bless her (my rock!)

So today I thought that I would show you a make that I made last year but again creating a inky background and explain it in a little more depth.......

I used my Distress Inks  to create the initial background with the Imagination Crafts Diamond Stencil. This is one of my favourite stencils and I use it so much as you have probably realised!!
I used a Blending Tool to add two colour inks through the stencil but as you can see in the second photograph I embossed two lines creating a border using my large headed embossing tool (8mm) and a scoring board through the centre of my cardstock and the masked off that area with copy paper. Then when I put the stencil over the area and inked it with my blending tool it just went where I wanted it to.
I then used TCW Chicken Wire Reversed Stencil over the top and Black Soot Distress Ink just in certain areas to add some more texture to the background......

I wanted a splodged area on the background but slightly controlled so I made a wash with some black gesso, loaded up a large paint brush and added a paint puddle to the top third of the card. I then took a plastic straw and blew some of the paint puddle upwards and outwards to the edges of the card. I repeated the same at the bottom but no so much.
With a smaller paint brush I flicked some black gesso over the background too......

For the flowers I used the Zen Flowers from Lavinia Stamps and coloured them with the Distress Inks. I also added a message from my stash......

Lastly I matted it firstly on to black card, it always makes an image pop if you have used a lot of black and adds drama to the piece and then on to a co-ordinating colour card and then on to my card.....

Well that is all from me for now, have a fabulous weekend and I will be back tomorrow with a special preview??????....

Hugs Lisa B xx

A Visit To Fairyland

Morning, it’s me again, this time with my final Lavinia Stamps post for June – which can only mean that Friday is class day! Before that though, let me show you my card. I wanted something very colourful for my last project & I think I succeeded………..

042

I cut a circular mask &  placed it in the centre of a piece of Super Smooth white card. Then I began applying Mustard Seed mini distress ink, heavily around the edges, using less & less as I got to the mask.

033

Next was Peacock Feathers mini distress ink through the Imagination Crafts Bubbles stencil, again using more in some areas, less in others………………

034

035

I stamped the Zen Houses & the Spring Trees with Onyx Black Versafine………….

038

Stamped the houses again onto white Super Smooth card & coloured them using watercolour pencils & Silkies & blending with a water brush……….

036

Cut them out……………

037

Used Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear glue to attach them to the base. I added white details to the bubbles with a white pen, added shading with a grey watercolour pencil around the sun – which I coloured with Sunset Satin & Sunshine Satin Silkies, applied with a piece of cut & dry foam -  & in front of the houses & the trees…………..

The finished scene was matted & layered onto yellow & pink core’dinations card squares & the whole thing attached to a 7x7 white card blank.

And that is the end of my adventures with Lavinia Stamps, but only for now. I really enjoyed making all my samples & you will definitely see me using LS products in the future. Thank you for all the kind comments.

As I said at the start of this post, Friday is Class Day in Maidstone – it seems to have come round very quickly this time………

You will be making two cards using Indigo Blu products & Lisa promises that it will be a much less intense class than last time. Smile

If you haven’t booked a place & you’d like to attend, please contact Lisa asap; lisabaker1@btinternet.com & she will let you know if there are still places available.

The blog challenge will end on Saturday night at 11pm, so you still have time to enter your Lavinia Stamps projects. A new challenge & a new promotion will start next Sunday & Monday respectively.

It only remains for me to wish you a great week & I’m looking forward to seeing those of you who are attending the class on Friday.

Flowers and words

Hi! It's Georgina.

Today I have a card to share with you using Lavinia stamps which are available from Lisa B Designs

To make this card I started by stamping the wording in black ink to the front of a 119x119mm white card blank. I then cut around the edge of the words as shown below.

Inside the card I stamped the Mini Zen Flowers stamps with Sunshine Yellow, Watermelon, Stream and Aqua Adirondack ink pads.

For the front of the card I stamped the flowers again in the same colours onto a separate piece of paper. I also stamped one of the flowers Meadow Adirondack ink pad for leaves. I cut out all the flowers and added them to the front of the card. To finish the card I added Opal White Liquid Pearls to the centres of the flowers.

Butterflies in flight

Hi! It's Georgina.

Today I have a card to share with you using Lavinia Zen stamps which are available from Lisa B Designs

To make this card I started by stamping the Zen Butterfly stamp in Stream and Aqua Adirondack ink pads onto a 148x148mm scallop edge card blank.

Along the bottom edge of the card I stamped the Mini Zen Flowers stamps with Sunshine Yellow, Watermelon and Meadow Adirondack ink pads. I also stamped flowers on a separate piece of card which I cut out and added to the card. I drew in flower steams with a Distress Marker.

I used a sentiment stamp from Hobby Art's Birthday Collection stamp set which I stamped in black ink. To finish the card I added Opal White Liquid Pearls to the butterflies and Glossy Accents to the centre of the flowers.
