Card-io Stamps Class Cards.......

Good morning all,

Now I have to apologise as it has been quite a while since I last blogged but with my holiday, my niece's wedding in late July and Kirsten and I really busy planning and making samples for new classes and workshops things have kept me a little bit busy to say the least!!!

But hopefully things have settled down a little now and I can get back to it.......

So today I thought that I would show you the actual class samples that the Card-io Stamps Class was based on last Friday.

For the first one, I kept it simple as there were new ladies that had never used Card-io Stamps before and then we got more involved with the second card.

So the items that I used on this card were as follows:

Card-io Stamps:
Versacolor Inks:

These stamps are an absolute delight to work with Versacolor inks and enable you to get a lovely scene created very quickly. An added bit of scribbling and detail with the Micron fineliners adds ao much to the scene.....

A little closer look.....

This was the other choice for the first card.

The items that I used on this card were as follows:

Card-io Stamps:
Versacolor Inks:

A little closer look at those lovely wellies!

So by now after making their first card they were really into the stamps and enjoying them and it was time to add more detail and create a bigger scene......

The items that I used on this card were as follows:

Card-io Stamps:
Versacolor Inks:

He really is a lovely scarecrow but not very good at his job!

Then the other choice for the second card was this one below, I love the mushrooms.......

The items that I used on this card were as follows:

Card-io Stamps:
Versacolor Inks:

I added a few little dots of Starlights to the centre of the flowers.....

Well I do hope that you have enjoyed having a peruse at the class cards and I will be back next week with some more samples that I made for the class using Card-io Stamps.

Lisa's next workshop at Grove Green will be on Sunday, August 20. Places are still available and all the information is HERE.

Have a great week, love and hugs

Starlights, Sparkle and a Little Dimensional Snowfall...

Good morning all! I really need to get some Christmas cards done; why oh why are they always left to the last minute in my house?

This week I decided to team some Starlight paint with some Sweet Poppy Pearlescent Dimensional Paste. I love glitter card, but it is a little too much for me when used in large chunks, so the Starlights allow me to create a background that sparkles in a more subtle way, that I can still stamp onto AND use other products on top of!
Off we go then...

My first step was to use a palette knife to put a small amount of Blue Starlight Paint onto a Heat Resistant Craft Sheet (you can use any wipeable craft mat). I then used a brayer to pull the paint downwards and evenly spread the paint. Once my brayer was coated, I then transferred the paint onto a section of Super Smooth Card cut to fit a small square card (5x5 size card blank). The brayer gives a great coverage of the paint making it even; you can really see the sparkle! Tip: if you have any paint left that you're not going to use, use the palette knife and put it back in your pot. Or, you can do what I did and brayer another piece of card...

Above you can see my original Blue Starlight Paint card brayered on the left, and then on the right you can see the same card with  Cyclamen Starlight Paint brayered on top for a slightly different effect. I like the mixed look, and you always get a fab. effect as all the colours work so well together and blend beautifully.

Back to my card now.. It's really difficult to see in the image above, but once the paint was totally dry I used some snowflake stamps from the Hobby Art Winter's Snowflakes set and randomly stamped them all over the panel using Jet Black Staz On. I then chose a metal stencil from Sweet Poppy and fiddled with the positioning (applying some Masking Tape to certain areas) until I found the sections that I wanted to use.

Placing the stencil over my card, I used some Sweet Poppy Pearlescent Dimensional Paste and dragged this over the area using a Spreader tool. After lifting the stencil straight away and placing in water, I let my panel completely dry.

My final step was to stamp an image from the Card-io Christmas Sentiments set onto some card and colour in the text using a Salty Ocean Distress Marker (which works well with the blue paint). This was added to my card using foam tape for some height.

Easy to do once you've done one, so quite achievable for Christmas card batch making do you think?

Thank you for your company,
Love
Martina

Birdhouse Moneybox

*This is a BUTTERFLIES & FLOWERS promotion post. Remember to leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway.*

Kirsten here, taking a break from the butterflies, but staying with the flowers to show another of my event day samples, this time a wooden moneybox (not on the website, but available to order from Lisa).

I painted it, firstly with gesso, then with a number of coats of Martha Stewart acrylic paints; Pollen, Hailstorm & Hydrangea Purple..............

Stamping on a shape like this with a large stamp is not easy, so the answer is to stamp onto tissue paper with a permanent ink. I've used an orange Archival ink here.....

(NB I used the Woodware Clear Magic stamp 'Georgina' on the moneybox, but these next few photos show 'Fiona' & 'Chloe' for demo purposes)

Torn tissue paper edges will blend into the background more easily than straight ones, so the way to tear the edges without the risk of tearing your image is to load a paintbrush with water, drag it down all four sides & gently pull the tissue apart along the wet seam................

The torn tissue will be dry in seconds..........

You need to make sure the tissue is well stuck to your chosen surface, so use a gel medium, such as Mod Podge. Brush it over the entire surface & carefully place the tissue on top. Gently smooth it down with your fingers, you'll get a few wrinkles, but most of them will be gone by the time the glue dries......

Brush more glue over the top of the tissue, making sure the edges are sealed. Smooth over with your fingers again & leave to dry.

When the glue is completely dry, gently tear off the excess tissue paper.

Another handy hint: keep a paintbrush for gel medium only & keep it in water. If it dries, it will be unusable.

I stamped the Woodware Clear Magic mini flowers onto white Supper Smooth card with
embossing ink & heat set with WOW Bright White embossing powder & used Cut-n-Dry foam to apply Boysenberry, Ash RoseOrange Versacolor inks on top, then cut them out...............

I glued two of the flowers together, glued some thin wire behind them & used hot glue to keep them in the chimney, along with a little cotton wool 'smoke'..........

To each side I added a Tando bird & branch that I'd painted & stamped with Card-io Majestix stamps.
