Craft a Little Everyday! An MDF Inspiration Project for your Crafty Space

Good morning all! Martina here with a piece I made as 'inspiration' for my crafty space. That's Crafty have produced some amazing MDF pieces in all shapes and sizes, so I chose the upright 'splat' as the perfect 'canvas' to work on...

I started by painting my piece with Americana Acrylic Paint in Baby Blue. I did not want the colour to be too dark, as I wanted to add various colours on top. I then used the 'Craft a Little Everyday' Dinky Stencil with some Structure Paste to add my main sentiment. Using the Bubble Background Stencil and some Blackcurrant Sparkle Medium, I added some detail to one corner, and then used some Crackle Medium through a splat stencil to the side. Once the crackle was dry, I replaced the stencil and added a layer of paint in the colour Snow White.

Once the mediums were dry, I used a foliage stencil and some Bundled Sage Distress Ink to add some trailing leaves to the top of the MDF. I stamped, coloured and cut some small daisies from the Daisy Days Stamp Set to add to the leaves. I coloured the sentiment with Lavender and Dark Orchid Starlight Paint, adding some pearls to the letter 'A'.

At the bottom of the upright I added some PaperArtsy Jofy 50 flowers and decorative pins. To make the flowers I used some PaperArtsy Infusions on Watercolour Card, stamped the flowers heads onto this and then cut out. The 'wheat' like sprigs in the background are Art-Cutz coloured with Starlights.

The final touches were some splats to the base, all created with various colours of Sparkle Medium, and some PaperArtsy flowers (sitting just behind the Jofy blooms and to the right). To make the flowers I pushed a Versamark Ink Pad through Stencil PS060 directly onto the MDF. I then sprinkled WOW Embossing Powder in Fuchsia Fusion and White before heat drying.

Phew! Yes, that was a lot of products! I didn't really start out with a plan, I just wanted to add some of my favourite products all on one piece as a reminder of what I have...or at least some of it! It is one of those projects you make just for you, for fun, or maybe to inspire someone else, or as a gift? I love all the MDF uprights; I have a feeling there may be less birthday cards made this year and more of these!

What products would you use on your piece? Do you have a favourite product? I can't decide...

Love
Martina

Winter Robin

Good morning, Kirsten here on the last day of October. I hope you've had a good month. I've got two very quick & simple projects to show you today, I used the beautiful Winter Robin Art Stamp from Imagination Crafts on both.

My base for this project is a white/greyboard postcard from That's Crafty. You can use either side, I chose the white side & as I was stamping & using Distress inks.

I stamped the Winter Robin in Vintage Sepia Versafine ink with the intention of adding clear embossing powder & heat setting, but I had forgotten that my ink pad is not as juicy as it used to be & I got a slightly faded result, which I really liked & decided to keep.

I dried the ink with my heat tool, then added some colour with watered down Red & Emerald Starlights. When that was dry I blended Antique Linen & Tea Dye Distress inks around the outside of the image & added the greeting from the Hobby Art Christmas Frosting stamp set. I also added some Diamond Sparkle Medium with my finger to the tree branch.

To finish the postcard I painted two scraps of card with Red, Topaz & Green Starlights, die cut the scraps with the Leane Creatief Flower die 004 to make a poinsettia & glued it & the flourish to the postcard with Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear glue. A spatula tip of Welsh Gold Sparkle Medium to the centre of the poinsettia & I was finished.

The second project is even simpler. A 6x6 white card blank, Distress inks - Candied Apple, Bundled Sage, Spiced Marmalade - on to a piece of white Super Smooth with splatters off watered down Pearl Starlights, the Winter Robin stamped with Onyx Black Versafine & heat set with WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder, a piece of grey card as a matted layer & the Hobby Art Christmas Frosting greeting stamped directly on to the card blank.

Fields of Flowers

Hi everyone, Kirsten here with a scheduled post as it's a bank holiday here. Hope you've all had a great weekend, but is anyone else finding it hard to believe that it's the end of AUGUST??!!

I have three quick & easy cards to show you today, made with Stampendous stamps; Field of Daisies & Field of Poppies & a Craft Emotions stencil; Poppy Fields. I used Distress inks for all three backgrounds.

This background is Salty Ocean, Squeezed Lemonade & Twisted Citron Distress inks. I stamped the Field of Poppies stamp with WOW! Embossing Ink & heat set WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder on top. Then I painted the flowers & seed heads with Red & Green Starlights. The sentiment is from the Stampendous Life Is Art... stamp, I just masked off the parts I didn't want before stamping...........

The second background is Scattered Straw & Victorian Velvet Distress inks & splatters of
Yellow Brusho Shimmer Spray. I used Topaz, Apple Green & Zinober Gold Starlights on the daisies...........

The final card has a background of  Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade & a little bit of Picked Raspberry Distress inks. I also used Ripe Persimmon DI through the That's Crafty
Dinky Reverse Honeycomb stencil & a Crealies stamp with embossing ink & white EP on the background.

I applied Amethyst, Lilac & Green Starlights through the Craft Emotions Poppy Fields stencil & finished with the Stampendous Celebrate Birthday stamp..............

That's it from me for today. Lisa will be making her way home from Hochanda today. If you managed to see some of the Imagination Crafts' ODS shows, we hope you enjoyed them & if not, they're available on catch up for the rest of the week.

This coming Friday is Class Day for us in Maidstone, there will hopefully be a newsletter with information about that on its way to you in the next few days.

Have a great Monday & thank you for visiting the blog.
