Watch Out For Icebergs!

Good morning, Kirsten here with my final two Hobby Art Christmas cards for now. I used the
Poles Apart stamp set & Distress inks to create two very simple scenes. By the way, is anyone else bewildered by the fact that it is now OCTOBER??? It doesn't seem possible.....

I stamped the polar bear cub first, then masked her off & stamped the mama polar bear. I used Weathered Wood distress ink & Pearl Starlights to create some snowy areas & shading on the icebergs..........

For the second card I masked off the penguins - cutting out that mask was a little bit fiddly.... :-) - before stamping the iceberg they're standing on & adding two polar bear cubs........

The sentiments are from the Hobby Art Christmas Frosting stamp set.

Christmas? Bah Humbug!

Hello everyone, Kirsten here, hope you had a nice weekend. I've got two more Hobby Art cards to show you today & those who know me well won't be at all surprised by the first card. ;-)

When I saw the Poles Apart stamp set, I immediately knew what my first Christmas card of 2016 would be. This polar bear looks completely fed up with even the mention of Christmas, I'm sure his name must be Mr Scrooge!

I created a very simple background with Distress inks - Seedless Preserves, Shaded Lilac, Salty Ocean - & some masking off of areas. I stamped the polar bear first, then the penguin, which I also masked off, before stamping the iceberg.

I stamped the words from the Hobby Art Christmas Frosting stamp set, painted them with
Turquoise Starlights & added the punctuation from the Hobby Art Alphabet Typed stamp set..........

I don't usually make the class cards these days, but there was a pack left over from the September class & because in all the years I've been crafting I've never made a slider card, I decided to have a go.

I followed the layout of the class card but used Hobby Art's Winter's Snowflakes stamp set for the background & Spectrum Aqua pens from the Floral set, I like non-traditional Christmas colours............

(The Spectrum Aqua pens are on sale on the website)

So that's it, my first two Christmas cards this year. Hopefully, making more will be slightly less painful from now on, lol!

The Lisa B Designs October classes in Maidstone are fast approaching. We'll have more information soon, but if you'd like to reserve a place in either the afternoon or evening class, contact Lisa on 01622 675068/lisabaker1@btinternet.com, or message the Lisa B Designs Facebook page

Thanks for visiting the blog today, have a great week.

Winter Cards

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a nice weekend. I was at the Crafting at Ally Pally event at Alexandra Palace yesterday & had a lovely time. Apologies for there not being a blog post from me for the last few weeks, the time just got away from me. For this week's post I used Hobby Art's
Poles Apart & Winter's Snowflakes stamp sets with Distress Inks.

When I began making my samples for the September classes I wasn't ready to make Christmas cards, so I made three which would work for winter birthdays.

This one uses the Winter Snowflakes, stamped with Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet & Shaded Lilac Distress inks. I added some gold stamping & used a stamp from the Woodware
Hand Drawn Sentiments set................

The Winter's Snowflakes again, stamped with blue Distress inks & gold ink. I used another Hand Drawn Sentiment stamp & added the cute penguin from Hobby Art's Poles Apart set...........

For card number three I painted the Emperor penguins with Weathered Wood & Stormy Sky Distress inks. I made a simple background with more gold & Distress inks & added white gesso through the That's Crafty Bubbles Dinky Stencil & a Hand Drawn Sentiment stamp, stamped with embossing ink & heat set with WOW! Gold Rich embossing powder...............
