Happy Christmas!

Hello, Kirsten here with my regular Tuesday post.
It’s Christmas Eve! Are you all organised, or is it panic stations with hysteria setting in??
This is my final Christmas post for 2013 & it’s going to be short & sweet. I had this idea months ago & then promptly forgot about it, so I’m glad I remembered it for today.

Remember the Craftwork Cards chipboards letters? I used the leftover bits, stuck them together with strong tape on the reverse, covered the front with wet glue, added the glitter & left to dry overnight. It actually would have been easier to use red stickles, but I wanted to see how well the glitter would stick. Not too bad is the answer & I like the texture, but stickles would have stuck better. I attached it to the kraft card base with a double layer of foam pads.

For the centre of the ‘o’ I stamped the small snowflake from the Hobby Art Butterfly Kisses set on to kraft card with embossing ink & heat set it with WOW Bright White embossing powder, then cut it out with the smallest Spellbinders circle die. I cut three snowflakes from white card with the Joy Craft die & added red card candi on top. I finished with red bakers twine on a length of white organza ribbon & added silver diamond mesh on either side.

That’s it from me, don’t forget the blog challenge, it runs until December 31 at 10pm. I wish you all a VERY happy Christmas.

Quick, I Need A Christmas Card!

Happy Saturday crafters, Kirsten here with an extra & very speedy post.
How many times have you been asked for an extra Christmas card over the years? A card is required NOW & do you have one? No.
These Embellish Me toppers from Craftwork Cards could solve the problem. The four cards I made with them won’t win any prizes, but I put them together in about twenty minutes. The toppers are designed so that all you have to do is add card candi in appropriate colours, add an embellishment in the form of a ribbon, a flower, gems, or not. Whatever you want.

003

I put this one onto a square of the green gloss card, with two strands of the silver diamond mesh underneath & added some glitter glue.

004

A shaped card with gold diamond mesh & a piece of red linen card. I turned some of the card candi upside down & added glitter glue.

005

Card candi as on the previous card, some silver diamond mesh & a zentangled string as a border.

002

The colours on this one are perfect for kraft card. I doodled around the edge of the topper, added gold diamond mesh & a ribbon.

That’s it. The set of toppers also contains non Christmas ones & I’ll hopefully show you some of them in a week of two. And like many other items on the website, there is 10% off the price of this set.

Quick and Easy Glitter Cards

Hello crafters, Kirsten here.

I’ve got two very quick cards to show you. For this first one, I die cut the pale green pearlescent card with the smaller of the Joy Craft snowflake dies, then drew squiggly lines with a glue pen & sprinkled fine glitter on top. When the glitter was dry I attached the card to a piece of lilac glitter card with foam pads.

003

I used the pearlescent card as the base for this card. I stamped the snowflake cluster Hobby Art stamp on white card with Versamark & heat set with WOW’s Clear Sparkle embossing powder. I cut scraps of the lilac glitter card & put silver glitter on double sided tape & attached the ribbons with brads to make parcels. I added Icicle distress sickles to the centre of the card candi & die cut snowflakes.

December Challenge & November’s Winner

Good morning crafters, Kirsten here. It’s time for the final challenge of 2013, all the details are on the challenge page, a big thank you once again to everyone who took part. The winner of the November challenge was chosen by Random.org & it chose….

011

Congratulations to craftyfield! Please contact Lisa at lisabaker1@btinternet.com to get your prize.

Now, time for a little honesty. When Lisa chose this month’s challenge topic, I was more than a little trepidatious. I am NOT a fan of glitter. At all. I have no glitter card, apart from a few scraps & the few pots of glitter I have are from way back in the mists of time, when I first started crafting. So please bear with me this month, I’m unlikely to create anything earth-shatteringly fabulous.

I stamped the snowflakes from the Hobby Art Butterfly Kisses clear stamp set with distress inks; Chipped Sapphire, Festive Berries & Squeezed Lemonade & heat set them with WOW’s Clear Sparkle EP. I put double-sided tape of two different widths on the 6x6 card blank & covered them with gold glitter. I added doodling & faux stitching with a black fine line pen & embellished with gold distress stickles.

001

The sentiment didn’t stamp as clearly as I’d intended, but I decided it was a happy accident, because I liked the slightly faded appearance.

And now it’s over to you. Get that glitter out, (if I can do it, anyone can) & enter the challenge. After  all, starting 2014 with £20 to spend on new crafting goodies can only be a good thing.

That’s it for today, thanks for looking. I’ll be back on Tuesday.

Four Cards for Christmas

Hello, Kirsten here with my regular Tuesday post. I don’t have anything new to show you this week as I didn’t get time to meet with Lisa before she went to Birmingham to demo at the NEC for J & C Creations. Hopefully, we’ll meet up this week at some point. So, I have four different cards to show you, all quick & simple, made with Hobby Art stamps & Joy Crafts dies.

For the first card I used the Craftwork Cards chipboard letters as a mask, placing them on a card blank & spritzing over the top with acrylic paints I’d mixed with water in some mister bottles. I then spritzed with a mix of pale gold mica powder & water. To highlight the word I doodled with a black waterproof pen. Georgie was coloured with watercolour pencils.

001

Card number 2. I stamped the Hobby Art snowflakes with Evergreen Bough distress ink, coloured Georgie with watercolour pencils & added Icicle stickles details. I cut two ‘hills’ from white card & embossed them & made a tree from scraps of glitter card.

002

Card number 3 couldn’t be simpler. Nitwits patterned card with a snowflake wreath on top. The die cut circle greetings are from an old CWC set of messages in my stash. They take distress inks really well, so you can change the colour easily.

003

Card number 4 is definitely not a traditional Christmas card. I coloured the card blank & a separate piece of white card with Peacock Feathers distress ink. Then I dry embossed the separate card with the Embossalicious Lattice embossing folder, adding a little more DI afterwards & matting it onto black card. The Joy Crafts snowflakes were attached with Cosmic Shimmer glue & adhesive gems put on top.

That’s all for now, thanks for looking. We’ve had more entries in the November blog challenge & there’s still plenty of time to take part, so if you’re thinking about it, have a look at the details on the challenge page.

Until next time, happy crafting.
