Cadbury Dairy Milk The Raspberry Shortcake Review

Image
As I mentioned in my review of the new Cadbury Dairy Milk Choca-Latte bar, Cadbury UK have gone and released three new flavours of which you can vote for to keep your favourite one. Peoples responses on Instagram have been mixed so it'll certainly be interesting to see which wins, but I've seen a lot of love for both the Latte and Raspberry flavours so far. So which did I prefer? Well, as nice as the Choca Latte was and it's great having a coffee flavour Dairy Milk bar, it lacks that certain something to make it worthy of staying in my opinion. I thought this Raspberry Shortcake variety was better, even if it's a more simple combination - sometimes simple things are better! This reminded me a little of the Dairy Milk with Shortcake pieces, that was delicious, available in the early 2000's, and annoyingly discontinued! - The shortcake bits are similar and very plentiful in this bar, with the dried raspberry bits giving an interesting contrast. It also conta...

Dean's Gluten Free Choc Chip & Stem Ginger Shortbread

Image
You can't beat shortbread. It's one of those classic, timeless biscuits that's easy to make and always tastes good. All thanks to the wonders of butter. But when you're gluten free, sadly it's a lot harder to find a good quality shortbread, even if you make it yourself. Luckily, Dean's Original Family Recipes have come to the rescue! They are currently selling a few varieties of their Gluten Free shortbreads in the Free From section of Morrisons, including this: Choc Chip & Stem Ginger. By chance I found this for a mere 50p in a local discount store, so snapped up a couple of packs before they had all gone (the regular price in Morrisons is over £2 so these were a real bargain!) Made with rice, potato and maize flour and butter, these also include dark chocolate chips and stem ginger pieces, for a nice warming spiciness. I don't usually go for ginger biscuits but on this occasion I couldn't say no since they were gluten free and so cheap. ...

Tesco Finest Free From Luxury Shortbread Selection

Image
Today we're back with the gluten free treats, and today's review is this Tesco Finest Gluten Free Luxury Shortbread Selection which is currently available from most Tesco and Tesco Express stores for £4.50 a box. It contains 3 packs of gluten free shortbread biscuits, all of which are suitable for vegetarians. There's clementine flavoured shortbread, which contains mixed peel and spices and has a nice festive flavour going on. The biscuits are a little powdery but the butter stops them from being too dry. 7 out of 10. The cranberry ones contain dried cranberries which give them a nice chewiness, enhanced by the festive spices. I enjoyed these a lot more than the clementine as the sharpness of the cranberry works a lot better with the buttery shortbread. 8 out of 10. The chocolate chip ones were hands down the best of the bunch, containing chunks of creamy milk chocolate that complimented the buttery biscuits beautifully. These were the ones I kept com...
