Mixed Media "Calm" Tag #2

Image
At the beginning of the month, I saw a friend post a very good question on Facebook.  Did March come in like a lion or a lamb?  It's been a bit difficult to tell for sure with the odd weather that we've seen.   I don't know about you but I think its definitely time for some more "calm" in my daily activities.  In fact, this tag was posted on YouTube and the 3 Girl JAM blog more than a week ago and is just now being posted here.  This set of tags had to include metal of some kind and I wanted to throw in some alcohol inks.  Even though I wasn't using glossy paper, I felt like I needed to try these.  I used quite a few other products and tried some new-to-me techniques.  Throw in some gorgeous 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon - in this case  goblin green and iris   - and you are good to go.  Don't forget to use the discount code "CP10" when shopping at 3 Girl JAM for an extra little discount. This tag used quite a few supplies and I will attempt to

"Strengthen" 4X4 Card Share

Image
Everybody needs a little note of encouragement sometimes.  I wanted to express my appreciation for a few people so I decided to make some little encouragement cards for them.  Originally, I planned to make 3X3" cards but when I found this stamp set, I knew it was the perfect sentiment but a bit too big for 3" cards.  That's when I decided to make 4" cards instead.  I don't plan to put them in envelopes, but may put them in clear bags as they will not be mailed. These super simple cards only required a few paper layers and went together really quickly.  Despite the fact that the brown card is difficult to see in the picture, I think it is my favorite!  I like the richness of the colors. Supplies: Graphic 45 - French Collection in 8X8 DCWV - Autumn Melody matstack The Paper Studio - Cyprus collection Memento Tuxedo black ink Ribbon - Really Reasonable Ribbon Stampabilities - Some People stamp set Prima Flowers Memento Tuxedo Black ink K&am

Vintage Altered Cigar Styled Box

Image
Vintage styled altered crafts are so incredibly fun to make that I had to share one with you.  I am participating in an altered cigar style box swap.  I must admit that I had so much fun with this one that I plan to make more in the future. I had some paper from the ancestry.com line by K&Company that was perfect for a vintage style box.  There are a few 3 Girl JAM ribbons that coordinate perfectly with these papers.  I decided to use Coral Crush from the Caribbean Splash bundle and Cream from the Coffee bundle to accent these great papers. Of course there were a LOT of other supplies that I needed: 8X8 wooden box Paint - Napa Red paint and Weathered Wood crackle medium by American and Warm White from Folk Art J.W.'s Right Step clear varnish Adhesives - Gorilla glue, hot glue, Glossy Accents Spools from Laura's Crafts K and Company metal art embellishements Recollections leaves, clear plastic paper, wooded butterfly Lace (from my stash) Tiny mirror from

Thank You Notes - Tutorial for OWH's Memorial Day Bloghop

Image
Tomorrow (or today, depending on where you are located), there is a fun blog hop going on over at Operation Write Home.  I am really excited to be part of this fun hop and can't wait to hop along and see all the other inspiration.  The theme is "Thank You" and the challenge is to use an OWH sketch.  Did I say challenge?  OWH sketches actually simplify card making and are a great springboard for enhancing creativity.  I love them and use them often. This tutorial is actually for the hop.  However, there's a bit of a catch.  The tutorial is for one card and the card that I'm posting for the hop is going to be a bit different.  Same techniques - different results.  So be sure to check out both. For today's card I used the following supplies: Prima Leeza Gibbons "Wishes and Dreams" 12X12 cardstock Bazzill "Nougat" and cream cardstock Archival "Coffee" ink "Thank You" stamp from Stampendous "Hap

New Release Blog Hop - Altered Canvas

Image
Welcome to the new release blog hop at 3 Girl JAM.  I am so happy to be sharing these new colors today.  If you hopped over from Carri, you are in the right spot.  If you just happened on to my blog today, be sure to head over to see Julie's post here . Now on to my project for today.  I decided that I wanted to alter a canvas.  Though this is not the first canvas that I have altered, it is unlike anything that I have attempted.  I must say that it was quite enjoyable to make and wasn't difficult at all.  My favorite color of all of the new colors is without a doubt Purple Passion.  I decided that I would keep this project for myself. Besides Purple Passion, I also used a lot of other supplies: Canvas board Faber Castell Gelatos Prima - Mixed Media Doll by Julie Nutting Tim Holtz - Black Soot Distress Ink, Old Paper and Dusty Concord Distress Markers, Heartfelt stamp set, Milled Lavender Distress Stickles Studio G - glitter glue Zig Pure Brown marker Ranger J

14 Days of Valentines - Twinchies

Image
What in the world is a twinchie?  That's a very good question and one that I needed an explanation for as well. For a full explanation about this juicy little morsel, please watch the video.  It was super easy to make and something pretty that I will be able to add to cards.  You could even add it as an embellishment on a scrapbook layout. In the meantime, here's what I used to make them: Glitter Glue - unknown brand from my stash Fancy Pants - Love Notes 6X6 pad lace (possibly from Martha Stewart) Want-2-Scrap pearl bling CTMH - Ruby Ink Glossy Accents heart charms (from eBay) silver brads I plan to include 1 of these in the prize packet for the current giveaway.  Link up one of your Valentine's projects to receive a chance to win.  Also, remember that every time you link up a project to the 3 Girl JAM "3D Valentine's Challenge", you will also receive a chance to win.  For all the rules, click here . Let's Got Those Stamps Organized!

Image
Welcome to my 3 Girl JAM post.  Did yesterday's post inspire you to get your stamps organized?  If you missed the post, please click here.   Now that the stamps have been all stored alphabetically, I needed a way to be able to find what I have.  This video ( click here ) started me on the process of getting organized.  I won't lie and say it was easy.  Indeed, it took a lot of time to get this set up the way I wanted it, but I am so pleased with the results.  I should be able to utilize what I already have now that I can quickly find those images.  So without further ado, here is my organizer: Of course I needed a few supplies to get started: 3 Girl JAM "Antique White" ribbon which can be found by clicking here . Altered Envelope

Image
Hello everyone.  I am so happy to be sharing my very first 3 Girl Jam Design Team post with you today.  I needed to make some altered envelopes for a swap over at CraftHappens.net.  I decided to use my favorite 3 Girl Jam ribbon - Witch's Brew - at the same time.  Now I have to admit that I used a lot of products on this one, but don't be intimidated.  Use what you have.  I didn't buy anything special for this project.  I went through my stash and used what I had.  Isn't that a great way to plan a project?  I thought so too.  However, if you don't have any 3 Girl Jam ribbon, you can try it by going to www.3girljam.com Front of the Envelope Here's what I used: 3 Girl Jam ribbon - Witch's Brew Prima - flowers and bling Tim Holtz Distress ink - Antique Linen, Tea Die Tim Holtz stamps - Playful Journey Homemade glitter spray - Perfect Pearls and Metallic Purple Ranger Archival ink - black Tim Holtz word bands Nestabilities - Lattice Rectangles Fr

Mother's Day Card

Image
This beautiful card is definitely not my normal style of card.  To start with, I chose a different size than I usually make.  Normally, I wouldn't run my distress tool around this type of card, but I decided to just go for it and lightly distressed around ALL the layers on the outside of the card with my Tim Holtz Distress Tool.  Here's what you need: Paper Trey Ink Vintage Cream cardstock - cut 11" X 5 1/2" + a piece to die cut "Mother" Dark Blue paper - cut at 5 1/4" X 5 1/4" + a 2" X 4" piece (from my stash) Tradewinds matstack - 2 coordinating pieces 5" wide - the light piece was 4 1/2" high and I believe the dark piece was 2" high Offray ribbon Prima flowers Blue misting spray Cricut "Heritage" cartridge I used some of the scraps from the Tradewinds matstack to finish off the inside of the card.  For more information, please see the video.
