Sparkly Birthday Card

Sometimes you just need a little sparkle and a birthday can be one of those times.  That's why I chose to use a little to glitz up this card for a special young man who will be turning 89 this week. Of course, Close To My Heart helped me a bit.  I used the following supplies.  You can click on the names of most of them to get your own. Confetti Wishes Paper Pack Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge Bright yellow Stickles How about a video? Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things!

"Calm" Tag

Image
Good morning everyone.  I have a tag to share with you today and it comes with a bit of a story.  One day I was reading a friend's blog - Proverbs for Life - when I learned of the concept of choosing a word of the year.  Soon after reading the post, I felt like the word I needed to focus on this year is "calm".  Why? Like many of you, life in my house is busy.  4 family members = 4 (or more) jobs.  Add youth group, classes, and Rugby and some days we are hopping.  Being an RN with a full-time job in an ER, the word "calm" rarely is a description of my work life either. Being calm doesn't happen.  It's something that has to be focused on to achieve. Some days, I have to focus on calmness by being still and really listening to God.  Other days being calm means staying out of the craft room and spending time with family instead of focusing on projects for deadlines.  Some days it means that I need to sleep a little extra, while other t...

You and Me Anniversary Card

Image
Good morning everyone.  I would like to welcome you to a new year on DJ's Sundries.  I am so happy that you chose to stop by today. Have you ever had one of those projects that changed completely after you got started?  That kind of happened to me with this card.  I had planned to use some 3 Girl JAM Merlot ribbon on the front of the card, but when I went to grab it, I had used all of mine.  No worries, I already let Julie know that I need more.  Instead, I used some of the new Jute ribbon in the same color.  I think I like the finished project even better.  It definitely looks more masculine than a soft ribbon bow would have looked. Supplies: 3 Girl JAM Jute ribbon (get yours here and be sure to use the code CP10 to let Julie know that I sent you over) Fancy Pants "Love Note" 6X6 paper pad Core'dinations "Juneberry"smooth card stock Echo Park "Your's Truly" sticker set Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge Crystal Stickles Foam tape ...

Thanksgiving Organization - Without a Filofax

Image
Can you ever have too many organizers?  Probably, but I don't think I have gone that far yet.  When I was thinking about the things that I needed to do for Thanksgiving, I was debating on the best way to start my lists.  I thought about using my Filofax or Day Planner but then I decided that I want to keep track of our Thanksgiving celebrations for years to come.  This way I will be able to keep all my Thanksgiving recipes in one place.  I can also see the place cards that I make so that I don't risk repeating them.  Since I'm getting old and forgetful, I can also keep special memories listed in there.  There's no way that I'm buying a new Filofax for this so it was time to pull out a trusty ole' composition book. I used the following products: Zig Pure Brown, Pure Orange,  and Wheat pens HOTP Fall paper and other Fall paper from my stash Paper Trey ink - Vintage cream cardstock Tim Holtz Holiday Paper Stash, Gathered Twigs and Ripe Persi...

Crafty Fun With Aunt Cheri - Frames

Image
It's hard to believe that today is the last day in the summer part of this series.  I have enjoyed it so much and I hope that you have too.  I hope to have another project sometime in September.  I used purchased foam frames.  I also purchased a package of foam and cut more out to decrease costs.  The foam stickers were from previous projects.  Gold colored stickles and white 3 Girl JAM ribbon finished everything off beautifully. Be sure to check back in September for another Crafty Fun project.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Summertime Mini Canvas

Image
Today's project is full of little things to enjoy - a canvas, kite, chevron, and sun.  I get so busy with life that I forget to enjoy these little things.  How about you?  When was the last time that you reveled in the feel of the sun on your face or watched a kite float through the sky?  If you're like me, it's been too long.  This tiny project was a lot of fun to make, despite being a bit challenging.  I recently participated in a Mini Canvas swap at Art & Sassy .  Though the concept was clear in my head, I had a difficult time translating that to canvas.  It all worked out and I must say that this Sunflower crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl JAM truly finished it off.  It just didn't look right until I made the little sun. Here's what I used to make my mini canvas: 3 Girl JAM - Sunflower crinkle ribbon 2"X4" Artist Loft canvas Artist Loft  modeling paste Gesso October Afternoon "Kite Tails" stamp set Shrinky Dink Kites...

Birdie Birthday

How many nursery rhymes pop into your head when you think of rain?  Undoubtedly a few.  Today's 3 Girl JAM challenge is all about April Showers.  The Cricut "Imagine More" cartridge had the perfect image for the theme so I decided to use it to get started.  3 Girl JAM Red crinkle ribbon from the Red, White, and Blue pack was the perfect accent for this card.  Unfortunately, this color is not currently available, but there are other reds available and some new colors are coming soon. 14 Days of Valentines - Twinchies

Image
What in the world is a twinchie?  That's a very good question and one that I needed an explanation for as well. For a full explanation about this juicy little morsel, please watch the video.  It was super easy to make and something pretty that I will be able to add to cards.  You could even add it as an embellishment on a scrapbook layout. Butterflies & Flowers Birthday Card

Image
I decided to make a shaped card to share with you today.  Shaped cards are so simple with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. I cut the shaped card at 4 3/4" (This made a card that is larger than the standard A2 size).  I used the pink, orange, and blue from the "Soda Pop" collection from Recollections.  The purple was from my scrap stash.  The butterfly was cut at 2" from the same page.  Glitter glue was applied to the purple highlights of the butterfly and the "4" was taken from a Studio G sticker pack. The cut out circle from the center of the flower on the front of the card was used as the center for the inside of the card.  It was stamped using black "Archival" ink and a Happy Birthday stamp from an unknown source.  Butterflies were punched using a Martha Stewart punch and adhered with a Zig 2-way glue pin. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things that come into y...

12 Days of Christmas Tags - Day 7

Image
Have you ever just had "one of those days"?  Well today, was kind of like that for me.  I will apologize as there is not a video for Tag #7.  I accidentally deleted it when I went to copy it.  OOOPS!  It turned out cute too.  I can give you a picture though. I distressed around the edges with Iced Spruce distress ink.  I used Barn Door and Stormy Weather Distress Markers Along with a water brush pen to "watercolor" the snowman.  I used Barn Door distress ink to stamp Merry Christmas and then ran over it with the water brush pen to give it the look of water coloring.  Crystal stickles finished off the look.  Other things I used include: 3 Girl JAM - Sterling Ribbon #8 tag from Ranger Saying from here. Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge Black cardstock Glossy Accents Inkadinkadoo stamps - Ornate Christmas Watercolor paper from the dollar bins at JoAnn' Charm from eBay Don't forget to link up a tag for the prize.  Doesn't ...
