Sunday in the Word - Worthy of Worship

Image
I have been reading through Psalms and was struck by how much focus is placed on worship and praise to our great God.  He is truly worthy of our praise and worship and so I wanted to highlight that in this week's Sunday in the Word. This was actually fairly simple to create when I pulled out some tools.  Using the Cricut Quarter Note cartridge and my Explore, I first found the musical shapes.  I cut them from simple white cardstock and then traced them with pencil.  I wanted a watercolor effect so I dug into my watercolor box and found these long-forgotten Neocolor II wax pastels.  I had purchased them a few years ago for an online watercolor class that I had taken but I'm not even sure that they were ever really used.  They were perfect to fill in the notes and then the background. I am really enjoying this journey into the Bible journaling world.  It has opened yet another way to express my love and worship for my great God.  I'm not sure that I will have a post

Christmas Thank You Notes

Image
I know that Christmas is over and you are likely moving on to winter and Valentine cards.  I'm running a bit behind and needed to make some thank you notes to send for Christmas Gifts.  One of the Christmas cards I made this year was from the Teresa Collins Christmas Silhouette images that were free in the Cricut Craft Room during the holidays. You can see those cards by clicking here .  At that time, I saved the negative space and planned to make more Christmas cards with them.  I never could quite come up with a design for them though.  One day as I was thinking about all those negative spaces on my desk, I came up with the idea for these thank you notes. I used the following materials: Negative space left over from the Teresa Collins cuts from various solid papers Recollections "Shades of Red" cardstock Core'dinations "Krafty" cardstock The Paper Studio "Holiday" cardstock Versamark ink and white embossing powder Martha Stewart bakers

Dashing Through the Snow Christmas Cards

Image
Last year, the Cricut Craft Room opened up a few free images from Teresa Collins.  I missed out because they were gone before I could cut any out.  Guess what?  They're back along with a few others.  If you haven't signed up for the Cricut Craft Room, you really should.  It's easy to use and the freebies are great! I had a great picture in my head that I had a difficult time bringing to paper.  I originally planned to use printed cardstock, but struggled to make that work. I made a few, but the solids were my favorites. I used Ink-a-dink-a do's "Ornate Christmas" and on the inside, I used CTMH's Everlasting Holidays. The printed papers used were all scraps from my stash.  I used the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge for the framed backgrounds. CTMH Ponderosa Pine, Tim Holtz Festive Berries, and Memento Tuxedo Black inks were used for the stamping. Kraft cardstock (possibly PaperTrey ink), and red and green cardstock

Revisiting Old Cricut Cartridges - Happy 18th Birthday Tag

Image
Everyone can use a tag, right?  I know that I can.  I have tags stuffed in a drawer, ready to be made into beautiful little pieces of art.  But did you know that there are lots of tags on Cricut cartridges?  In fact, if you go to MyCutSearch.com , there are 119 pages to go through to find the tag you want.  It's not just the new ones either.  Some of the cartridges have been around awhile.  I chose the Preserves cartridge for today's tag. Supplies: Watercolor Paper Cricut Preserves Cartridge - pg 47 cut at 5.5 inches Distress Inks- Broken China, Faded Jeans and Peeled Paint Perfect Pearls water mist (homemade) Close To My Heart - dimensional elements and Birthday stamps from the Artiste bundle Studio G glitter glue Echo Park "Splash - Bella Road" letter and number stickers Really Reasonable Ribbon - Blue, Green, White stripe Hero Arts Stamp and Cut - "Balloons" Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the

Graduation Autograph Frame

Image
Today is my daughter's BIG DAY and I want to show you the autograph frame that I decorated for her graduation table.  It was a pretty simple project and I really like the way it turned out.  It will really be special when it is filled with autographs.  Most importantly, my daughter likes it.  Another bonus is that it is a perfect match to the autograph book that I posted last week.  You can see that post by clicking here . I used the following supplies: Prima - Leeza Gibbons "Wishes and Dreams" paper Coredinations Teal paper Cricut and the Cricut Craft Room Stampendous Graduation Cap stamp Archival - Coffee ink Ofray teal ribbon Autograph frame from JoAnn's Xyron 2.5" sticker maker Scotch quick dry adhesive Now for the video: Like I said, this was a very quick project and I plan to have it on her graduation table. I plan to link this to the following challenges: Decorate to Celebrate - Graduation Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes challenge

Military Appreciation Envelope

Image
A couple of days ago, I showed you a military appreciation card.  In that post, I mentioned to be on the lookout for the matching envelope.  Here it is. This was super easy to do.  I could really add detail since I hand these cards out personally and don't mail them. Supplies: Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Fired Brick and Faded Jeans Yellow Cardstock from my stash K. Andrew Designs - :Freedom Isn't Free stamp set Cricut - Stand and Salute Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Military Appreciation Card

Image
Freedom is so often taken for granted.  We often fail to take a moment to show those who are working to protect our freedom our appreciation.  These cards were designed to do just that. I try to tuck a little Starbucks Gift Card into these and carry them in my purse.  That way when I come across a member of the military I can give them a little thank you.  Its not very big, but it is one way that my family can show our appreciation to those who are serving our country.  Now I'm not saying this as a pat on the back.  I just want to remind you that EVERYONE - even someone who doesn't make cards can do something to thank members of our military.  I often take the cards I make to work to show my friends.  I took a couple of these and when I opened them up later, one of my co-workers had tucked a $5 bill inside.  It was her way of thanking our military as well.  I pray that the Lord will have me give these to the person who needs it most when I am handing them out.

If you are looking for the next installment of the Animal Card Series, it will be back soon.  I wanted to post this one today.  The Animal cards will be back in a day or two.  There are 3 more in the set to go! I must admit that of all the graduation cards I have ever made that these are my favorite.  I got the idea from a Mojo Monday sketch several weeks ago, but didn't end up following the sketch after all.  The video explains more.  It also includes the the measurements for the card. Stamps - "Scripture Sayings" and "Fashionable Friends" from K. Andrew Designs Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge Fiskars Scalloped Sentiment Punch Paper - Black from my stash, Red from Recollections, "Graduation" from Hot Off the Press, White from the scrap stash Ink - Black Excelsior, Fired Brick Distress Ink I hope you enjoy the video.  Have a great day! Animal Card Series - Fishin' You Were Here

Image
I think these fish are adorable!  I used the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge and cut them at 4".  Googly eyes make them really fun.  The waves were originally cut out in the pool water paper that you have seen in other cards in this series, but didn't cut cleanly.  I couldn't find more, but I decided this was a more abstract card and the blue ticking paper was perfect! You can barely see the watermark fish stamped on the inside.  I used Versamark and a fish stamp from a $1 set to create the background. The sentiment is from "Splashtastic Summer by K. Andrew Designs.  Mandarin twine from The Twinery is tied through the little orange button. The video has the rest of the details of the card.  I hope you have a few minutes to watch it. Thanks for stopping by and have a supercalifragilisticexpealadocious day!

Animal Card Series - Get Whale Soon

Image
I "Whaley" hope you are enjoying this series as much as I am enjoying making the cards for it!  I think this whale from the "Splish Splash" Cricut cartridge is adorable.  This was a cartridge that I won several months ago in a giveaway and it's the first time I've used it.  Don't have this cartridge?  No problem!  Go to mycutsearch.com to find what other cartridges have whales on them.  I know I have at least 2 others. I used the "Scripture Sayings" and "Splashtastic Summer" stamp sets to stamp the sentiments on this card.  They are from K. Andrew Designs.  The video will include other information including cut sizes and the other supplies I used. Thanks for stopping by.  Please remember: "Jesus paid it all.  All to Him I owe".

Banner Table Decoration

Image
I must admit that this was somewhat difficult to photograph in my small space.  I love the way it turned out though.  I had hoped to take a picture at the shower that I made this for, but was unable to.  I used the following tools and supplies: Paper from my stash 3 ivy bowels from Joann's Pink tissue paper from Walmart Styrofoam rectangle cut into blocks (wrapped in the tissue paper) Dowel rod cut into 10" pieces Rose metallic paint Heart brads from my stash. Cricut - CCR Exlusive -"Party Picks and Pennants" Cricut - Country Life Template - us cut a 5X5" square I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching and have a great day.  The inspiration for this project came from Sarah at LiveloveandSCRAP on You Tube.

Alligator Birthday Card & More

Image
I have to admit that I have not had such a bad case of "can't leave well enough alone-itis" when it comes to crafting in a long time.  I have been wanting to use this new die from Paper Trey Ink for quite awhile, but just haven't taken the time to play with it.  It is a spinner die and I really had fun with it. I am entering this project in several challenges: Crafty Friends - Use 2 Die Cuts Joyful Stamper: Inspire Me Friday - Anything Goes Paper Playtime "Say it with Sentiments - Birthday" Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes + Kraft   So let's get started This is the front of the card.  After the video, I added glossy accents to the alligator and white gel pen to the blue behind him.  The sign is made from brown and Kraft scraps and the Camp Out cartridge.  The grass is from Kate's ABC's in various green scraps.  The water paper is from Hot Off the Press.  I'm not sure where the gold bop letters came from.  The dark blue an

"Easter Blessings" - Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge

Image
Welcome to another Simply Sunday Challenge over at Getting Cricky.  Today's challenge is to make an Easter project.  Now I love to celebrate Easter.  I am so thankful that Jesus rose again from the grave and this is the perfect time to celebrate that! I made a card for today's project and I used 2 sets of stamps from K. Andrew Designs - Fall-O-Ween and Scripture Sayings.  Kristal, from K. Andrew Designs donates a portion of the proceeds from each set of stamps to charity.  It is also very important to her that they are made in the USA.  You are helping others when you purchase these stamps. Now for today's project.  This card was pretty simple once I designed it and found the papers I wanted to use. I used Vintage Cream card stock from Paper Trey Ink for my card base (5 1/2 X 4 1/4) and as my anchor color.  I used the Lavender Chateau matstack from DCWV for all the other papers.  The octagons were made using Spellbinders dies. The sizes for all the papers are gi

Monstrous Birthday

Image
Despite the bustle of life right now, we needed to stop yesterday to observe my brother-in-law's birthday.  My niece from Colorado is here and she is a beautiful cake decorator.  She decided to make a Red Velvet cake for him.  My niece didn't know that I have cake decorating supplies (another craft that I don't have a lot of time for), so she picked up a few things at the store.  I grabbed my cake decorating box and told her to help herself.  When I opened it I found these cute decorations from a Monster's Inc. cake I had purchased several years ago and this was what she came up with. Since Maria worked her magic with the cake, I of course had to coordinate and work my magic on the card.  Now we just need him to watch the movie (ha ha - probably not going to happen). Tools: K. Andrew Designs Stamps - "Fall-O-Ween", "Owly Hoo", and "Coffee and Tea for You and Me" Cricut - Best of Pixar Supplies: Ink - black Excelsior Purple base -

Wedding Card

Image
I know it's been awhile since I posted a card, but I finally felt well enough to spend a little time in the craft room.  This card is for my Card Exchange Club and I think its gorgeous! I used the "It's Valentines" stamp set from K. Andrew Designs.   Now on to the video.  One thing that I forgot to mention on the video is that I used "Dusty Concord" distress ink from Tim Holtz to ink around the edges of the inside mat before adhering it to the base.  Also in the video, I discuss a lesson I learned about my homemade glitter sprays.  You DON'T want to miss this if you plan on making your own glitter spray sometime! Finally, I am linking this project to the ODBD Challenge at the Operation Write Home blog. You can find this by clicking here .  I stumbled across this organization a month or two before Christmas.  Volunteers make cards to send to service men and women that they can send back to their families and loved ones.  It is a simple w

Heart Anniversary Card

Image
Outside of the Card I went to my craft space to start making Valentines earlier this evening.  However, when I got started I ended up making an anniversary card instead.  I used the "Wild Card" Cricut cartridge and papers from Recollections and K & Company.  Best of all I was able to use my newest set of stamps from K. Andrew Designs.  You can click on the image below to purchase this great set of stamps. I can tell that I will be using this one a lot!  Remember that all of these stamps are made in the USA and that at least $1 from each set is donated to charity.  They are so versatile.  I have found it is fun to mix and match the sayings.  There are soooo many things you could make from this one simple set! Now on to the project.  I really like the way this one turned out. Inside of the card I hope you enjoy the video to see the steps I took to make this cute card.  Thanks for watching and have a great day!

"You Make My Heart Sing" Birthday Card

Image
Today I am going to show you a card that I made for my husband's birthday.  However, by using different stamps and paper, this could be easily used for a Valentine or encouragement card.  This is the first time that I have used the Wild Card cartridge.  I think I need to practice with this one a little more to make sure I have it figured out, but it was fun to use. I also used Coffee & Tea fro You & Me from K. Andrew Designs.  You can view and purchase these by clicking on the image below.  Remember that these stamps are made in the USA and that at least $1 from each set is donated to charity.  They are so easy to use.  If fact, I masked words from one of these for the sentiment on my envelope, but more on that later. Let's get started: Tools: K. Andrew Designs stamps "Coffee & Tea for You & Me" Cricut - Wild Card Cartridge - Page 50 "Wave" card and envelope Martha Stewart Scoreboard Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Faded Jeans ATG & X
