More Sketch Inspired Cards

Image
I finally made it to my crafty space for a little while the other night.  I didn't have a lot of time, but I wanted to get a few cards done.  Once again, I pulled out the OWH sketches and chose B-21.  You can find these fabulous sketches by clicking here . I know I've said it in the past, but I want to say again, how easy it is to make cards using sketches.  If you look at the original sketch, you will see that I changed things up a bit on some of the cards to make the sketch work for me.  I think that I made all 4 cards in about an hour and that is with filming the video.  You could really push out a lot of cards if you chose coordinating 12X12 papers went to work. I used paper and embellishments from Basic Grey's "Life of the Party" for the two cards shown above.  Basic Grey's "Shine On" paper with "Shine On and Serendipity" embellishments were used on the two below. The sentiments were stamped using Hero Arts "All Occ...

Summertime ATC's

To enter my current giveaway, click here . I know that I recently posted a chunky ATC, but I really wanted to post these as well.  I have decided that I need to keep a small stash in my purse to be able to hand out like business cards.  I want to change them with the seasons and /or holidays so I am only making a few at a time.  They will also be enclosed with swaps as appropriate. Despite the fact that I used a lot of supplies, these were really quite simple.  I used: Stamps - "Kite Tails" from October Afternoon and "Sweet July" from K. Andrew Designs Crystal stickles Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Stampin' Up - Rich Razzleberry, Dusty Durango;  Wild Honey Distress Ink Distress Markers: Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade Basic Grey - "What's Up?" 6X6 pad Butterfly Washi Tape ATC cards that were purchased on the internet around a year ago. I was going through a small stash of cards that I have and I found some cards that I made back in May.  You can find out all about them by clicking here .  Though they are square and smaller than an A2 sized card, I think they are cute.  More importantly, they provided the perfect inspiration for today's cards.  I made 5 cards and they went together very quickly. Paper Saving Masculine Birthday Cards

Image
Today I have a fun project to share with you.  I actually made these after I made some similar ones for women.  You will see them in a future post.  I did not make these following a sketch.  It was just a concept that I had in my head where I was trying to make a bunch of birthday cards quickly while using my 6X6 paper to the best advantage. I used the following products: Basic Grey - Shine On 6X6 pad Georgia Pacific - white cardstock Vintage Photo Distress Ink Memento Tuxedo Black ink Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder Hero Arts - All Occasion Messages I only used 5 full 6X6 sheets of decorative paper, 5-6 sheets of GP card stock, and some scraps to make 8 cards.  Not bad! Check back soon for a video tutorial where I show you how I made 4 feminine cards using similar techniques.  I think you will be glad that you did. Thanks so much for stopping by.  In the meantime, remember to take some time to enjoy t...

Thankful Beyond Measure

Image
I trust you are having a great Thursday.  I'm so happy to be with you today.  Do you ever have those times when you just want to let someone know that you are thankful for them?  I know I do.  Recently a co-worker asked me if I had an extra thank you card for just such a person and I knew that I needed to make one that was extra special.  Needing room for multiple people to sign and leave a message, I decided that I would make a 5X7 card.  I grabbed some paper, some embellishments, and a few other items and went to work.  Of course any special card is made more special with 3 Girl JAM ribbon so I also grabbed some Witch's Brew and Antique White . Now I must tell you that there is a NEW COLOR of 3 Girl JAM ribbon that will be coming soon that would have been even more perfect for this card.  I admit that I seriously considered sneaking it in here, but I behaved.  Curious?  You will all have to wait just a few more days.  Let me...

Simple Sketch Inspired Cards

Image
Today I wanted to show you 3 of the simplest cards I've made in a long time.  They were styled after another Operation Write Home sketch that you can find here .  These sketches are really helping me get caught up right now and I'm so thankful for them.  Remember that using a sketch doesn't take away your own creativity or flair.  A sketch is just a springboard to jump to your own ideas. The first card I made was from the Basic Grey "Life of the Party" 6X6 pad and Element stickers.  The blue card base was something I found in my stash.  I think this will be a perfect male or kid birthday card, don't you? I decided to take a border from the Element sticker sheet to finish off the inside.  Hero Art's "All Occasion Messages" had the perfect little happy birthday sentiment to finish it off with Archival "Jet Black" ink. The second card is definitely for a lady.  I pulled out the "So Sophie" 6X6 pad, Basic Grey "...

Birthday Balloons

Image
To find out details on my current giveaway, please click here . Though my husband's birthday was last month, I am just now getting around to showing the card I made for him.  This really simple card was made using the "Life of the Party" 6X6 pad and Woolies from Basic Grey. Since I wasn't concerned about mailing this card, I made it a 6X6 inch card.  The card base was made from blue Coordinations textured paper.  I hand cut the banner and used the Woolies to make balloons.  I pulled some solid baker's twine from my stash to form the strings on the balloons.  The sentiment was stamped using Archival black ink with an unknown stamp.  I finished the inside of the card as well, but did not photograph it.  You can see it by viewing the video. This card went together in a matter of minutes but still looked great.  Thanks for stopping by and remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Cake Birthday Card

Image
As much as I love getting ready for Christmas, I still have a lot of birthdays in the month of December.  One day this month I had 4 family birthdays (of course a set of twins in there increases the number of birthdays).  Anyway, it is definitely time to pull out the birthday sets. For this card I used the Basic Grey "Life of the Party" 6X6 inch paper pad and rub-ons.  I also used Stampendous' "Happy Messages" stamp set with jet black Archival ink.  There is a hint of Victorian Velvet distress ink as well.  The scalloped border was punched using the Fiskars "scalloped sentiment" punch.  I hand cut the sentiment "borders". It was a very simple card that is already on the way to its little owner.  I hope she likes it.  Please enjoy the video. Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Card Makeover

Image
Hello everyone.  I trust this finds you well.  I have been so crazy busy that I haven't really taken the time to craft lately.  That means that I'm really far behind.  My brother and sister-in-law's anniversary was last week and I didn't have time to make a card.  So this is what I did to still give them a little something special. I started by going into my card stash and discovered that I didn't have any anniversary cards made up.  However, I found this adorable wedding card that my friend Crystal made. ** Last year we had a card exchange club where each month we would pick a different theme and make around 8 cards.  Then we would exchange them between us.  It was great.  Not only did we receive great inspiration from each other, but we increased our card stashes.  Those cards have saved my bacon on more than one occasion.** The next step was to figure out how to turn this wedding card into an anniversary card.  I grabbed my...

Zipper Card

Image
Today I have a card for you that I made for my nephew.  I was able to use the zipper die set from Paper Trey Ink.  I can't wait to make more cards with this.  It was so fun to use and will be even more fun when my little great-nephew finds the secret message. Now I had made a video of this card, but it was a bit fuzzy so here's the summary.  I used the Cuttlebug with the Paper Trey Ink Movers and Shakers Zipper die and cut the wider one from the set with yellow paper.  Here are the rest of my supplies: Blue card base - 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (from my stash) Yellow paper for die (JoAnn's) White mat - 4" X"5 1/4" Cut 2 - one will be for the inside (Georgia Pacific) Basic Grey - Life of the Party (6X6 pad and epoxy stickers) Dejavu's - Mini Bop red sparkle letters Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Faded Jeans Additional tools: Hero Arts "All Occasion Messages" stamp set.   Fiskars Stamp set Using the set of stamps from Hero A...
