14 Days of Valentines Announcement and Giveaway

Image
Love is in the air.  Can you feel it?  Yes it's nearly time for that sappy holiday that we gals love to celebrate (the guys - maybe not so much).  I really enjoy Valentines Day and I enjoy making those that I love feel special.  In honor of this day, I have decided to do "14 Days of Valentines" and it will kick off tomorrow with not 1, but 2 projects. I have decided to make this a little bit fun for you all by hosting a giveaway.  Only this time, I'm not going to show you what I'm giving away right at the beginning.  Why?  Because I will be including some of the items that I post over the next 14 days in the giveaway.  Don't worry, some of the things you will be able to use "anytime". I will be offering you several ways to gain entries, so we better have some rules. 1. Be a follower of my blog.  To earn this entry, you need to leave me comment on this post letting me know that you are a follower.  Only the followers who comment will be entered.

January Calendar Page

Good morning.  It has been so cold where I live and snow is a normal appearance.  I hope this post makes you feel warm (instead of cold like the theme).  3 Girl JAM Ice Blue ribbon is great for this project and comes from one of my favorite bundles - at least its one of my favorite ones today. This is the first month for my new calendar.  I decided I wanted the "Place in Time" collection from Graphic 45 the very first time I saw it.  This collection is gorgeous and Ice Blue ribbon is such a great match. I also used the following supplies: DCWV - Neutrals Matstack Fancy Pants - My Family paper Close to My Heart - Outdoor Denim ink Want 2 Scrap - pearls Prima - Say it in Crystals Thanks for stopping by.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things. Question of the day - Would you like to see the rest of the calendar each month, or do you prefer  To see the whole thing over 12 days?

Ruffles and Hearts Birthday Card

I decided to use the same card base that I used a while back and see what I could do to it to add interest.  I think this pretty card did just that.  Here's what you need. 3 Girl JAM - Merlot Pink paper (I used the Recollections' Soda Pop" set) Scrap of paper (this one is from the "My Family" pack from Fancy Pants) Chianti - Color box ink Hero Arts - Hero Hues Happy Birthday stamps (unknown source) Fiskars 2" circle punch, heart's border punch Zig writer and other adhesive I hope you find the video useful.  Thanks so much for stopping by and remember to enjoy the little things. I'm linking this up to the "It's a Party with Ribbons" challenge over at 3 Girl JAM.  Have you linked up yet?  Time's running out and a new challenge is on the way soon.

Butterflies & Flowers Birthday Card

Image
I decided to make a shaped card to share with you today.  Shaped cards are so simple with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. I cut the shaped card at 4 3/4" (This made a card that is larger than the standard A2 size).  I used the pink, orange, and blue from the "Soda Pop" collection from Recollections.  The purple was from my scrap stash.  The butterfly was cut at 2" from the same page.  Glitter glue was applied to the purple highlights of the butterfly and the "4" was taken from a Studio G sticker pack. The cut out circle from the center of the flower on the front of the card was used as the center for the inside of the card.  It was stamped using black "Archival" ink and a Happy Birthday stamp from an unknown source.  Butterflies were punched using a Martha Stewart punch and adhered with a Zig 2-way glue pin. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things that come into y

Sympathy Card

Image
Hello again everyone.  I normally try to have a happy, upbeat project to share, but there's more to life than happiness.  There are sad times too.  One of the things I hope that I can always do with my cards is to bless someone else.  This card was designed for that reason. I love the simple elegance of black and cream.  Antique White 3 Girl JAM ribbon adds that final perfect.  I decided not to add anything to the front of the card except paper and ribbon and to just keep it simple.  I also used: DCWV - La Creme Matstack - 2 pieces cut at 5.25"X4" (one for the patterned base of the front of the card and a second one for the inside of the card); one piece cut at 5" X 2 ") Archival ink - Jet Black ATG adhesive Black cardstock base from my stash (8.5" X 5.5" - score at 4.5") K. Andrew Designs - "Sympathetic Sayings" stamp set That's it.  Super simple!  The sentiment is tucked into the inside of the card. Thanks so

Pink Hearts

Are you ready for a really simple card?  I needed a quick card and this one was so easy to make that I might make a few more.  It would also make a great Valentine if decorated a little differently. I pulled out my Cricut Close To My Heart (CTMH) Art Philosophy cartridge and went to work.  The card was cut using the card feature on page 37 and was cut at 5.5".  I learned some thing about the card feature on this cartridge which I share in the video.  I also used 2 different gorgeous 3 Girl JAM ribbons - Baby Girl and Iris Other supplies: Recollections "Soda Pop" collection (pink) DCWV - Nana's Kids Matstack CTMH - "Smoky Plum" pigment ink Happy Birthday (unknown stamp set name) Did you know that there is a new challenge going on over at 3 Girl JAM?  The theme this time is Party with a ribbon.  I'm linking this card up to it.  Wouldn't you like to join in on the fun?  Be sure to check out the rules and then play along.

Vintage Grunge Birthday Card

Image
Good morning.  Today I have a card for you that is way outside of my normal box.  I am going to call it "vintage grunge".  I'm not sure how accurate that description is, but we're going to go with it.  This was an experiment for me, so if you watch the video, you will see how this whole thing came about.  Let's get started. Here's what I used to make this birthday card: 3 Girl JAM - Harvest Orange ribbon Paper Trey Ink Kraft card stock Tim Holtz - "Joyful Song" and "The Journey" stamp sets Ink - Black Soot and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks; CTMH - Outdoor Demin ink 7 Gypsies "Your not old..." stamp Foam adhesive Xyron - repositionable adhesive Glitter sprays - True Blue with Pewter Perfect Pearls (home made) and Tattered Angels "Tiger Lilly" Cricut - Art Philosophy cartridge White cardstock to create mask  (Mine was a left-over cut from the Art Philosophy.  See the video for more information.)   How abo

Christmas Journal 2

Image
I know that Christmas is long over and packed away.  However, I wanted to post just one more of my Christmas projects.  I have shown you 2 Christmas journals this year.  The first was a very detailed journal that I made for my own Christmas journaling.  The second one was a really small journal that is something that you could toss into your purse.  I made a bunch of these for co-workers.  Today, I am sharing one between the 2.  It will take a little time to make, but I think its worth it.  I have made several of these throughout the season and still have several more to make.  Let's get started. For this particular journal, I used the following items: Composition notebook 14 pieces of cardstock (cut 4 at 9 3/4X 7 1/2 and 10 at 9 3/4X 7 1/4).  For this one, I used the Recollections Botanical Noel.  This is a stunning paper pack. "Full Disclosure" - A Book Review

Image
A few weeks ago while Christmas shopping on Amazon, a book popped up that they thought I might be interested in.  It had been awhile since I had checked for new books, so that pop up sent me to look up some of my other favorite authors.  While checking on one of those, I stumbled across a book called "Full Disclosure" by Dee Henderson.  I sat there for a few seconds trying to recall this book and then scanned the summary Amazon provided.  I figured one of her old books had been re-titled because I thought I had read all of her books except for 1 or 2.  Why would I think that?  Here's some background: Several years ago, a friend and co-avid reader, introduced me to the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson.  She quickly became my favorite mystery author.  I had been reading mysteries since childhood.  I love them.  But Dee Henderson's books are special.  Why?  Because I usually don't figure out "who done it" until almost the end of her books.  That's

Christmas Gift Cards

Image
A week or two ago, I featured a birthday card that was a gift card holder.  At that time, I promised a video on how to make them.  Now I know that Christmas is long past, but you can take the concepts used in these card holders and use them for any occasion.  Grab your Cricut - Artiste cartridge from Close To My Heart (CTMH).  We will be making the card on the "j" key and cutting it at 3".  I'll list the other supplies I used under each individual card.  The front piece of patterned paper was cut at 2 7/8" by 3 5/8" and the back was cut at 2 7/8X 3 7/8" for each card. White cardstock from my stash Making Memories "Believe" 6X6 pad 3 Girl JAM " Holly Berry " ribbon CTMH - ruby ink Recollections stocking stickers Cricut "Gingerbread" cartridge with gingerbread cut at 3" Brown, kraft, and white cardstock from my stash Peachy Keen "Basic Paper Doll Faces" (PK570) using the 3/8" face Archiv

Can God Use You?

Did you know that God wants to use you?  If you know Christ as your Savior, you should be a willing vessel, ready for His use.  He doesn't always use the popular, the rich, or the great.  In fact, He uses those who are faithful in the little things.  You may not think that you have much to offer such a great God, but what you do have can be used for Him.  Last Sunday, our pastor read the following reading to us.  I do not know who the original author was, but I know it was a blessing to me.  I trust it is to you as well. Can God Use You? The next time you feel like God can't use you, just remember... Noah was a drunk Abraham was too old Isaac was a daydreamer Jacob was a liar Leah was ugly Joseph was abused Moses had a stuttering problem Gideon was afraid Samson had long hair and was a womanizer Rahab was a prosititute Jeremiah and Timothy were too young David had an affair and was a murderer Elijah was suicidal Isaiah preached naked Jonah ran from God Nao

Anniversary Card

Image
Good morning everyone.  I trust you are having a great start to this new year.  OK it's not really a secret, but 22 years ago I started out the new year right.  I married my best friend on January 1.  Why we chose that date is a bit of a story, so we will skip that for now and get on to the project.  I really wanted to make my husband a special card.  Hot chocolate and antique white 3 Girl JAM ribbon provided a nice finishing touch. To make the ribbon medallion, I pulled out my 2" Fiskars circle punch, and my 1" Martha Stewart circle punch.  I punched a 2" circle out of a scrap of card stock and then punched the middle out using the 1" punch.  I twisted the antique white ribbon around the disk and glued it down with Scotch Quick Dry.  I then folded a piece of hot chocolate ribbon in half and added the accent color.  The "P" was stamped on a piece of Paper Trey Ink Vintage Cream card stock using a CTMH monogram stamp and Iced Spruce distress ink.

Happy New Year 2013

Image
Today starts a brand new year.  Can you believe that it's already 2013?  2012 really flew by for me.  As a rule, I don't make New Year's Resolutions, but this year I decided to set some goals.  The last month has shown me how much I need to make some new goals.  Among these are to grow closer to my God, work a little less, spend more time with my family, and a few others. Another goal is to post more "reflections" posts.  As I go through day to day, I see so many people who are hurting or simply struggling.  Friend, there is hope.  That hope can be found in Jesus Christ.  He loves us so much and wants to be your hope, your strength, and your all.  I plan to share that hope with you through the reflections posts this year. How about you?  Are you setting some new goals this year? I have decided to adopt a Scripture verse for my blog and my life for 2013.  Here it is: "And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewi
