Old Car #2 Birthday Card

Image
Today I have a card for you that was inspired by the Operation Write Home's Sketch #114.  I recently made some other cards with this and liked it so much that I wanted to make a masculine birthday card using this sketch and Tim Holtz.  I really like the way this worked for my brother-in-law. I used three stamp sets from K. Andrew Designs to form my sentiments.  You can click on each preview below to learn more about these great stamps.  Don't they mix and match beautifully?   Don't Forget the GIVEAWAY going on right now.  Click here to find out how you can earn entries for the giveaway. I am linking this project to a couple of challenges. Sketch Inspired Sympathy Card

Image
I'm back today with another card inspired by a sketch from Operation Write Home.  You can click on the image below to be taken to the current challenge posted on Operation Write Home's blog. Last week the card club that I'm part of focused on "Sympathy" or "Thinking of You" cards.  I thought that this sketch would make a simple, yet elegant sympathy card.  I made a "Love Note" variation of this card to send to Operation Write Home.  I will post a picture of the alternate card at the bottom of this post. I used "Sympathetic Sayings" and "I Heart You" from K. Andrew Designs to stamp the sentiments on these cards.  You can click on the images of the cards below to learn how to purchase these fabulous sets of stamps. I hope you enjoy the video. Here are the "Love Notes" Don't forget to enter the current Giveaway. Click Here to find out more!

Sketch Inspired Thank You Notes

Image
Today I have a tutorial for a set of thank you notes that I made.  My thank you note stash was dangerously low and I need a whole lot of them right now. I used Sketch #112 from Operation Write Home to create these pretty cards.  This is the first time that I have used a sketch designed by someone else and I enjoyed seeing the results. Operation Write Home is an organization that sends cards to deployed soldiers to send back to their families.  Isn't that a neat idea?  You not only encourage a soldier, but you also encourage his/her family.  We sometimes forget the sacrifice the families make so that their loved one can protect us.  For more information on Operation Write Home, simply click on the sketch above to be linked back to their home page. Of course, I had to use K. Andrew Designs stamps to complete this project.  I used "Owly Hoo" and "Scripture Sayings".  Simply click on the stamps below to find out how to purchase the

"Easter Blessings" - Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge

Image
Welcome to another Simply Sunday Challenge over at Getting Cricky.  Today's challenge is to make an Easter project.  Now I love to celebrate Easter.  I am so thankful that Jesus rose again from the grave and this is the perfect time to celebrate that! I made a card for today's project and I used 2 sets of stamps from K. Andrew Designs - Fall-O-Ween and Scripture Sayings.  Kristal, from K. Andrew Designs donates a portion of the proceeds from each set of stamps to charity.  It is also very important to her that they are made in the USA.  You are helping others when you purchase these stamps. Now for today's project.  This card was pretty simple once I designed it and found the papers I wanted to use. I used Vintage Cream card stock from Paper Trey Ink for my card base (5 1/2 X 4 1/4) and as my anchor color.  I used the Lavender Chateau matstack from DCWV for all the other papers.  The octagons were made using Spellbinders dies. The sizes for all the papers are gi

Monstrous Birthday

Image
Despite the bustle of life right now, we needed to stop yesterday to observe my brother-in-law's birthday.  My niece from Colorado is here and she is a beautiful cake decorator.  She decided to make a Red Velvet cake for him.  My niece didn't know that I have cake decorating supplies (another craft that I don't have a lot of time for), so she picked up a few things at the store.  I grabbed my cake decorating box and told her to help herself.  When I opened it I found these cute decorations from a Monster's Inc. cake I had purchased several years ago and this was what she came up with. Since Maria worked her magic with the cake, I of course had to coordinate and work my magic on the card.  Now we just need him to watch the movie (ha ha - probably not going to happen). Tools: K. Andrew Designs Stamps - "Fall-O-Ween", "Owly Hoo", and "Coffee and Tea for You and Me" Cricut - Best of Pixar Supplies: Ink - black Excelsior Purple base -

A Sunday Morning Surprise

Image
Life has been very busy lately. I just wanted to post this note that I wrote earlier today. I'm not sure when I will have time to post any new projects. It will likely be a week or so (at least). I trust the following note will be a blessing. If you have questions you would like to keep private, please mark your comment "Private" and leave your email address and I will be happy to get back to you. I will not publish any comments marked Private. Today I was able to witness something quite unique at church. The story actually began a while ago so I’d better go back a bit. For the last several years, my father-in-law has slowly developed kidney failure. His doctor was aware and was careful of the medications he prescribed in order to preserve kidney function as long as possible. In late 2009, while being hospitalized for another issue, it was determined that his disease had progressed to the point that it was time to consult with a kidney specialist (nephrologist

K. Andrew Designs Stamp Release and Other News

Good Morning Everyone.  I am getting ready to start day 4 of my long work weekend.  For those of you who don't know, I work 3, 12-hour shifts in an ER per week. So every other weekend, I work 4 days straight and the other days are worked throughout the weeks.  I really like this schedule (since some weekends aren't an option), but it does limit my time on those weekends I work.  I did just want to update you on a few things going on right now. 1.  K. Andrew Designs has a stamp release coming up pretty soon.  I can't tell you what it is right now, but I have seen the set being released and can't wait to get my preview set!  Some of you will love it!  Keep checking back here or go to kandrewdesigns.com to watch for the release date of these fabulous stamps. 2.  Soon, I will be starting a new weekly feature on the blog.  It is not so much "craft" related as it is "life" related.  Be checking back for info on this.  I'm hoping it will be an encou

Wedding Card

Image
I know it's been awhile since I posted a card, but I finally felt well enough to spend a little time in the craft room.  This card is for my Card Exchange Club and I think its gorgeous! I used the "It's Valentines" stamp set from K. Andrew Designs.   Now on to the video.  One thing that I forgot to mention on the video is that I used "Dusty Concord" distress ink from Tim Holtz to ink around the edges of the inside mat before adhering it to the base.  Also in the video, I discuss a lesson I learned about my homemade glitter sprays.  You DON'T want to miss this if you plan on making your own glitter spray sometime! Finally, I am linking this project to the ODBD Challenge at the Operation Write Home blog. You can find this by clicking here .  I stumbled across this organization a month or two before Christmas.  Volunteers make cards to send to service men and women that they can send back to their families and loved ones.  It is a simple w
