Oldies Aren’t Goldies At Glastonbury

The world's biggest greenfield music and arts festival is trying to ditch middle-aged music lovers for a younger audience. Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis said the event was short on 16- to 18-year-olds because older fans with fast internet connections beat them to tickets. ``These people are perfectly nice and adorable,’’ he said, ``but the late teens help to make the character of the festival.’’ Eavis said about 40 per cent of tickets would be reserved for phone bookings next year after this month's event sold out on the internet in under two hours.
