Chicks new challenge...

My friend Cathy, half of Chicks with Inkpads emailed me to ask if I would want to play along with a new challenge they are starting on Tuesday's NATURALLY I said YES!!! Cathy and Donna have such amazing distinctive styles (from each other!) and they are full of inspiration to me!

This week is a colour inspiration challenge; and it was a
perfect fit for me because there was orange!!! For the layout I used SCS220.

I chose Retro Boutique from Gina K - I love this set and it was the perfect image for the layout. The image is stamped with memeto black ink on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs and coloured with copics. I know just four lonely copics on this card!! On the shoes I added crystal effects to the middle yellow pump; although it didn't really show in the picture (sorry!!) For the clasps on 2 of the shoes I grabbed a couple of Taylored Expressions "Taylor's Tiny Twinkles" - which are fantastic although I am always worried about spilling the container!!

The card base is SU Tangerine Tango layered with a piece of SU's whisper white and the yellow DS paper is from Chatterbox called Fabulous Glitter Blooms, the orange is from Cosmo Cricket called Something Blue - I grabbed both of these at Scrapbooker's Paradise North; Gloria knows my weaknesses for paper so every time I go my basket seems to be full!!

Make sure you stop by Chicks with Inkpads to see all the other creations - thanks chicks for the great inspiration; I am looking forward to next week!!

Tea-licious

I just received this sweet Tea for Two set from MFT and had to get it inked up, so I checked the sketch challenge for this week (MFTSC72) & off I went; although I did have to flip the sketch on it's side!

The image is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs with mementos black ink and then coloured with copics. I cut out the bunny's bum popped it up plus I used liquid applique and glitter to make it like "Peter Cotton Tail" I added orange peel stickles on the polka dots on the cup.

The image is cut with a rectangle nesties and layered on a scalloped rectangle nesties. The card base is papertrey white cs, layered with SU's chocolate chip. The DS paper is from My Minds Eye and it's called Bloom & Grow - I love this line probably because it has orange/pumpkin in it!! I decided to stitch the DS paper and then added pumpkin ribbon. I didn't add the sentiment; I rarely put sentiments on my cards a habit that I am having trouble breaking - this way I can use it for anything

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day

Cupcake Christmas

As you all know last week I started my goal of 1 Christmas card per week; and I surpassed that by making 2 (YEAH ME!!) Well today I have this weeks Christmas card made, I must confess I am surprised I have been so good, really I didn't think I would make another until at least October!!

For this card I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge 59 & a Taylored Expressions Cupcake stamp!!! I was really excited to ink up one from her Home Sweet Home set.

The image is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs and coloured with copics, popped the song book up off the cupcake and used liquid applique and glitter for the earmuffs.

The card base is Papertrey white cs layered with SU's riding hood red and DS paper from My Minds Eye called "be merry". The circle is SU's Kiwi Kiss and the strip of blue is baja breeze; both were embossed with cuttlebugs snowflakes. I added a 7mm olive Bella bonbon for the top of the cupcake.

Thanks for another great sketch Taylor; I am looking forward to my new stamps from Taylored Expressions arriving this week!!

Feeling a little Mischievous....

Yesterday I literally ran home from the mailbox (it's 1 house away so I survived!) because mine & Kar's package arrived from Elzybells!!! We both wanted to order the stamps so decided to order so they woudl arrive when she was here - now are both proud owners of Elyzbells {huge grin!!}

Mischievous Elzybell caught my eye right away because I grew up with brothers so snowball fights were a matter of life in the winter! I also love the little grin on her face; is she really going to throw that snowball?!

For this card I used SC218 from spiltcoast. Mischievous girl is stamped with mementos black ink on Gina K pure luxury cs and coloured with Lyras & mineral spirits.

The card base is papertrey white cs, layered with SU's bashful blue embossed with swiss dots. The DS paper Fancy Pants Sugar Plum. I added stickles for the snowballs and the snow flakes.

This was a fun card to make; and the cold snowy card was easy based on the cold snowy weather we are having here in Calgary; Kar & I stayed in & stamped today so she wouldn't be too sad about being here in March & not at home!!!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day

My Best Friend

It seemed like a long way away when my BFF booked her trip from Boston to Calgary BUT she arrives on Friday & I am getting excited - maybe that's the reason I made this "my best friend" card - I mean I am taller then her!!

For this card I used Amy R's Sketch 60. The images are from October Afternoons Night Light stamps (aren't they the cutest?!) I stamped the images on Gina K's pure luxury cs with memento black ink and coloured them with lyra pencils and mineral spirits. Naturally you HAVE to add googlie eyes to these little guys!

The base is SU's pumpkin pie layered with basic black and lavender lace cs. The DS paper is from Daisy Bucket Designs "little monsters" line that Gloria and the girls at Scrapbooker's Paradise North convinced me I "had" to have (yeah it didn't take much!!)
Thanks for another great sketch Amy - yep only 3 more sleeps til my best friend arrives!!

Have a great day

TOTE-ALLY....

Fantastic challenge on the SCS MFT forum - MFTWTG23!! I hadn't inked up this stamp yet & when I found the challenge I was really excited; an excuse to ink it up and use my scraps! The challenge is to use only scrap paper for the card; and I can honestly say that's all I did - the only time I opened a container was for my Bella bon- bons YEAH ME!!!

WTG Tote-ally Fantastic is stamped on Gina K's Pure luxury cs and I paper pieced her skirt & top, used copics to colour the purses, wall and sidewalk then I used lyra pencils and mineral spirits for the stand that the purses sit on and the lines on the wall and sidewalk. I did realize it has been awhile since I was back east; I had to really think about how the brick looks which is funny because our house in Toronto, that we lived in for over 5 years was brick - how quickly we forget!!!

The card base is SU's Rose red layered with Baja Breeze and the DS paper from WeR memory makers - I love the bright colours in this line called Whiteout. I decided to sew the ds onto the baja with orange (close to pumpkin) thread - I am still getting used to the new machine but I must admit I am having fun sewing again (on paper not my hubbys pants that are still waiting to be hemmed!) The image is layered on Baja Breeze and Pumpkin pie. I added some Bella orange bon bons but didn't want to put too much on the card front because I love the paper showing through.

I decorated the inside of the card just layered some Gina K pure luxury cs on Baja Breeze then added 2 strips of the ds paper.

I picked this paper partly because I wanted bright coloured purses; of the 4 I have 3 of the colours - I currently don't own the green coloured purse but I never say never!!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day I think I will be shovelling again...

Just Hanging Around...

I love this image from Stamping Bella it was one of the first non "bellas" I bought - the first of many!!
For this card I played along with Taylor's Cupcake Challenge, which was fantastic as usual!!
The funky clothesline is stamped with memento black ink and coloured with copics. I added Niji Pearlescent watercolours to the bird and crystal effects on the polka dots to give them some shine. The image is cut with nesties oval and layered on Rose Red, pumpkin pie and chocolate chip cs.

The card base is SU chocolate chip and the DS paper is from WeR memory makers White out collection & is layered on rose red. I added some chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon. I decorated the inside of the card; which every time I do I think I should do it more often because I love how it looks! I layered pumpkin pie, rose red and white cs then layered to photo corners cut with su's punch. The sentiment is also from Stamping Bella - they have great sentiments in funky fonts.

Hope you all have a fantastic Saturday, and thanks for stopping by!

finally inked...

On Monday Joanne announced the Gina K's challenge this week; ink up a stamp you haven't used and then confess how long it's been waiting to see ink - well this stamp was part of my birthday gift from my Hubby and was birthday was just before Christmas BUT I will use the disclaimer that it had a wee bit of a stay at Canadian customs (really not a very good excuse!!)

For this card I combined a total of 3 challenges on SCS - Gina K's Get Inky; SC216 and CC206. The colour challenge is More Mustard, Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss or Old Olive - I love this colour combo so I had to play along.

The stamp is from Gina K's A Year Of Flowers and it's inked (finally) with memento black and stamped on Gina K's 80lb Pure Luxury cs. I coloured the image with Lyras and Mineral spirits; which I still find really challenging to get the shading but one must practice!! I used lots layers on the card with the base being Gina K's Pure Luxury 120lb cs, layered with more mustard & more mustard DS paper, then the scallops are rose red layered with Kiwi Kiss ds, both cut with nesties. I then added a strip of kiwi kiss and rose red ds paper.

Thanks for all the great challenges & have a great day!

Rub-a-dub-dub Stella in the Tub

Really how could you NOT love Stella & all her glory???? This is another Valentines Day card; I only have 1 left to show YEAH ME!! So I shall pop them in the mail then I can literally say the cards are in the mail!

For this card I use SC215 from Spiltcoast, loved all the layers! Stella doing a balancing Act is stamped on Gina K's pure luxury paper with Mementos ink and coloured with Copics. To add some shine to the image I washed the tub with Niji Pearlescent watercolor. I added Crystal effects to the heart so they would shine. Stella's crown is coloured with gold Atyou Spica.

The DS paper is Basic Grey "bittersweet" layered on SU Pink Pirouette and Basic Grey. The card base is embossed with Sizzix hearts embossing plate. I finished off the card with Bella dots in Pink Orchard.

Yum COOKIES!!

When I saw this image from Stamping Bella I knew I HAD to have it - I love to bake & all my friends in Toronto & their kids LOVED when I made cookies because I make them & give them away! I was even known as the "Cookie Lady" to one of my friends sons. I made this valentines day card for her & another girlfriend who will laugh at the cake holder they are on; every time we went shopping at Winners/Homesense I would put one in our cart THEN by the time we would leave the store I would talk myself out of buying it; now after making the cards I really want a cake tray - I might just have to wander over to Homesense; but will one actually make it to my house?!

I actually decided to try sewing on this card; we bought a new sewing machine so I could hem pants for my hubby; yep the only thing I have sewn is a card - best not let him find out I got it working otherwise he will be wondering when the pants will get done!

I even managed to find something to paper piece on this card; really it is becoming a bit of an obsession isn't it?! Cookie Love is stamped on Gina K pure luxury paper and coloured with copics, I used an Atyou Spica on the heart then added some Crystal effects to give it some dimension & shine. The DS paper is all from Basic Greys "Bittersweet" collection. All the other paper is from SU; Rose Red, Chocolate Chip & Kraft. The chocolate chip is embossed with Sizzix hearts and I added some lovely Stamping Bella dots for a little bling

Funny I haven't used any stamps from Stamping Bella & I was in total withdrawal; yep I am definitely an addict of all things Bella - can't wait for my latest order to arrive!!

Thanks for stopping by have a great Thursday - really I only have 2 more Valentines cards to make not bad Huh?!

Call Me...

Don't you just love that Blondie song (ohh Dating myself!!) I decided to make a project for MFT Guest Designer; and I dug into my cupboards to find something to work with & I found this little address Rolodex YEAH it sang to me for MFT's CALL ME - which is very popular because it appears to be sold out; I hunted the site and couldn't find a link for you!

For this project I stamped the image on Gina K's 120lb pure luxury paper. I then stamped the image again on the same paper so I could colour and piece "who's that girl" onto the chair. She is coloured with copics and I added a little glitter on her shirt; I tried to free hand 1/2 a heart - or it's just a wobbly circle!!! For the hot pink phone I used an atyou spica gel pen then on the rotary dial (remember those too?!) I added some crystal effects.

For the chair I coloured it with lyra pencils and mineral spirits so it would stay soft; and look a little worn. Don't you LOVE how the chair doesn't move when she sits on it - I like to image my chairs don't either!!

The wall is coloured with SU's pretty in Pink chalk very lightly daubed on then I erased it a little so it wasn't too bright. The floor is also SU's chalk; chocolate chip and black mixed together then I washed over the floor with Pearlescent watercolour in brown to try and give it the effect of hardwood flooring.

The image is mounted on SU's basic black then mounted on chatterbox black polka dot paper. This is mounted on SU's Pink Pirouette paper which I mounted on 2 coasters for stability on the roladex. On the back page I embossed Sizzix "friend" sponged the piece with Pink Pirouette ink. To finish off the image I added some Prima's with Stamping Bella Pearls.

For the front and back of the Rolodex I embossed Pink Pirouette cs with swiss dots, and then added the word with Basic Grey sticker letters in black.

This was a fun project to do; a departure from cards - Thanks for the great challenge Kim, I loved using only Brown, Pink, Black, Grey & White.

Thanks for stopping by,

Ciao Bella

I made this card for a girlfriend in Toronto - we lived close to each other here in Calgary then both moved to TO at about the same time & again lived 10min apart so I am having a tough time not being able to have a glass (or a few) of wine with her. When my hubby saw this card he said it could be for most of my friends, I see nothing wrong with that!!

For this card I used MFTSC66. I stamped MFT's Meet me at the Cafe on Gina K's pure luxury paper with Memento black ink and coloured the image with Copics except for the paper pieced dress, for that I used Basic Grey's Bittersweet 6x6 paper; I also used this for the awning of the cafe. I added some shimmer to the pink t-shirt Niji Pearlescent watercolours and outlined the chair and table legs with my black Atyou Spica Pen.

I hate to admit it, but I have been hording my SU hodgepodge hardware; why I am really not sure just hording so i finally broke into it tonight! The sentiment is from MFT's Essential Sentiments. The ribbon is SU burgundy, the image is mounted on SU Rose Red then on Pink Pirouette and the card base is Gina K's 120 lb cs (love that for bases!)

A Little Retro....

I'm cheating a little bit - this is my post for Monday and depending where you are it will be the Monday post but if you are still up on the west coast sorry!! I realized that I had to get this card linked to SCS before 9am & I am assuming it's Eastern time.

For this card I completed Gina K's Tailored Challenge; using a tailored bow on my card, if you don't know how to make on Joanne B has a great tutorial on her blog.

The stamp is Gina K's Retro Boutique, which I stamped on Gina K's 120lb Pure Luxury cs. The dress is coloured with copics, then I paper pieced the skirt with SU ds paper in Pink Pirouette. I used dimensionals at the bottom of the skirt, but not at the top to make it look like it flows. On the top of the dress I added stickles to make it shimmer.

The image is cut with a nesties, and mounted on
su's pale plum. The image is mounted on Perfect Plum, which I embossed with D'vine Swirls and the card base is SU Pink Pirouette cs.

The Tailored Bow is SU Pink Pirouette cs - thanks for the great challenge and tutorial Joanne!
Have a great Monday

At the good ol' Hockey Game...

When we went to Montreal last weekend for the NHL All Star game we were guests of one of the companies hubby deals with so I made a thank you card for them.
Amy R's sketch for this week worked perfectly with the stamp I found in my stash (I think it's from Michael's 1.50 bin)
The image is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury CS and coloured with copics then mounted on SU's Night of Navy cs; both cut with nesties.

The card base is SU Riding Hood Red and the Ribbon is also Riding hood Red. The DS paper was in my stash; the one has the definition of Hockey, the other has a team logo on one side (Edmonton of course) then the side I used looks like ice after it's been skated on. The senitment is from SU's short & sweet set - I love the font and size of those words.

I decorated the inside with layers of SU's Night of navy and the DS paper I liked the look of the ice with skate marks and it would be easier to write our thanks.

Sorry for the late post; we have company staying with us so I didn't get it set to post early this morning - I am hoping I will find time to stamp this weekend

Thanks for stopping by and having a look - have a great Saturday

ALL WRAPPED UP....

Whew here is the last post for today - for this card I used Taylor's sketch that Ana Wohlfart showed.

I stamped Stamping Bella's Wrapped in Love on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs and coloured the image with copics. For the hearts I coloured them then added some stickles. I cut the image and a piece of SU's regal rose with nesties rectangle and scallop rectangle.
The card base is SU's Pink Pirouette, then I ran a piece of SU's Sahara Sand through a sizzix embossing plate and inked the hearts with Pink Pirouette. I used SU's Bravo Burgundy to mount the Sahara sand piece and the ds paper from Basic Grey's Bittersweet line. The heart is punched with Martha Stewart's heart punch and I inked the edges of the heart with Rose Red ink. To finish off the image I added some Cotton Candy Bon Bon's from Stamping Bella.

Well, I managed to make 4 cards yesterday, but I must admit I still have to put my suitcase away from the weekend so I hope I can get my domestic chores done so I can make something for tomorrow! Thanks to Taylor for the great cupcake celebration; I just wish I could have completed all the sketches

Have a great Thursday

ALL SU CARD!! (well almost...)

Yep I actually almost made an all SU card

The layout is from a sketch challenge my BFF found for us, I didn't get it done in time but wanted to post the link for you as this Karen
Giron's first sketch challenge and they come up on Sundays.
The colour is from
Kristina Werners colour inspiration.

I chose SU's CELEBRATE and used makers to colour the image; it is stamped on whisper white cs, layered on So Saffron, Real Red, and Green Galore. I used a the new texturz plate to emboss the papers. They are mounted on SU basic black and the base is NOT SU - darn... I was so close to having an all SU card. The base is Gina K's Pure Luxury 120 lb cs.

The flowers are SU's pretties (I think I have only used them once before!!) and I coloured the flowers with my markers to match

Thanks for the inspiration Karen & Kristina and thanks for stopping by

It's a Flopsey kinda day

I had hoped to get this card finished last night but I went & sat for a very long time in line at the car wash to get 2 months worth of snow & dirt off my car - now I don't want to take it out of the garage!!

When I saw Taylor's sketch challenge yesterday I LOVED the layout and couldn't wait to play along!

I inked MFT's Snow Bunny Flopsey with Mementos black in and stamped him on Gina K's 120lb Pure Luxury cs because I knew I would be heating the liquid applique so I wanted the heavier cardstock. The 12olb cardstock is great because the copics (no matter how much layer you do) don't come through!

I coloured Flopsey with copics and then for his drink (hmm is that a green Starbucks mug - must be a mocha or something else that involves whip cream; treat I never have but they always look so good!) and fur on the mittens I used liquid applique with dazzling diamonds and heat set it - love how it puffs and sparkles at the same time!

The card base is SU's Pink Pirouette, layered with Kiwi Kiss and the DS paper is from American Crafts "everyday" line. Flopsey is cut with a large nesties label and the pink pirouette is cut from a small nesties label to give a smaller layer. I used Pumpkin Pie ribbon topped with some strawberry parfait dots from Stamping Bella.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday

Chill & find your MOJO

Late post today - it's fantastic that it has finally warmed up here; it was +7C when I woke today & I like not having to bundle up BUT the winds that bring in the warm temps kill my head so it has taken me some time to find my mojo for Mojo Monday!

I decided to ink up a new stamp (for me) from MFT's Annie LaPoint's line called "chill out"

The image is stamped on Gina K's pure luxury cardstock and coloured with my copics - I wanted bright colours; maybe because when I look out my stamp room all I see is snow & I a patiently (not so much) waiting for some sign of spring!

The DS paper is from the Oopsie Daisy line from Imaginisce and it is mounted on SU's Basic black. The image is cut out with a circle nestie then mounted on the scallop - I love how the circles and scallops just give you an edge of the background.

To keep with the apparent black and white I was working with I added white primas from my stash and some black brands from basic grey
