For My Dad...

Both Father's Day cards are made BEFORE the big day - WOHOO now I just have to get them in the mail!

For my dad's card I finally mounted And Many Mower from SU - I bought it right away because I thought it would be perfect for all the masculine cards I needed to make & then it just sat there in my cupboard, like so many others!

I loved Taylor's challenge (TECC72) this week & it fit perfectly with the image plus it came together super quick because I again used my Key Ingredients kit. I coloured the image with copics and paper pieced his hat & shorts. It doesn't show in the picture but I added some crystal effects on the golf ball.

The corduroy buttons are from SU (more stuff that was still sealed..) so now I am off to mail them! (sounds harder then it is the mailbox is 1 house away from me yet I am still running late...)

Thanks & have a great day

Teeriffic June

When I made the calenders (I made a bunch for gifts - always seems like a good idea until you start making 12 of them!) I was optimistic that June would provide perfect weather for golfing; fingers crossed that my instinct was right!
Teeoffabella is stamped on Papertrey white cs and coloured with copics, For the golf club I used a gelly roll pen to give the shaft (really that the technical term...) some shine.

Because of the argyle print on her socks I used Sizzix embossing plate that has the argyle look to it
If you are an avid golfer like me hope you have a tee-riffic season :)

May flowers....

Ahh May finally - now that I am living back in Calgary I have to again say I hope we get flowers and not snow; yes we have had some heavy snowfalls in Mayand since it snowed a little the end of April I am a little nervous!

Because of Mother's Day and it's suppose to be time to get your gardens planted (later in the month here!) I choose Flowahbella.

The image is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with copics.

For the background I used a Sizzix embossing plate with large flowers on SU's Pink Pirouette and the calender is mounted on Baja Breeze

Don't forget it's Bellariffic Friday - click here to see all the amazing cards and remember on Monday Em will have a new inspiration posted.

AND remember until May 4 Da Bella is offering free shipping on all orders over $50.00 - the code is "happyweek"

Words that Ring True...

When I checked out Card Positionings Systems challenge this week (CPS110) I wasn't sure how to make my card; then I decided to step outside my comfort box and make a card where the sentiment was the focal point.

The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms Mona Lisa's Moments which I bought at Paper Pastimes in Calgary; they have a fantastic selection of stamps there so I always stop in when I am in the area. The sentiment is stamped on SU's whisper white with Real Red ink and cut with an oval nesties and layered on SU's Bashful Blue & Kiwi Kiss cs which was also cut with oval nesties. I love how the large & small ovals give you such nice layering.

The card base is white cs, layered with Kiwi Kiss and Bashful Blue. The swirl is SU's Baroque Motifs stamped with Kiwi Kiss ink. I added some red Prima flowers from my collection and added some clear Rhinestones, I added Rhinestones to the corner because it looked a little plain - you can never have too much bling!!
Happy Monday - it's actually Spring Like here I just hope it lasts & we are done with the snow; but never say never in Calgary!!

Have a great day & thanks for stopping by

Bitty Birthday Wishes

On Friday I checked out Charmwarms blog because I like to see the Weekend Sketch Challenge and this week Cambria was hosting it & I loved the sketch; it was one I could make a long card with which I have fun doing but it doesn't work with a lot of images.

For this card I dug out SU's Bitty Birthday; which is one of my favourite sets and stamped the images with mementos tuxedo black ink on Gina K's Pure luxury cardstock and coloured the images with my copics. The colour inspiration came from the DS paper which is also from SU it's Washington Apple.

The card base is SU's So Saffron and it measures 9x4 (fits perfectly in a letter envelope) I layered the DS paper on Pumpkin Pie and sewed the pieces together. The images are layered on Bashful Blue layered on Riding Hood Red; all cut with nesties.

I added some ultra fine glitter on parts of each image and added Bashful Blue Ribbon, the sentiment is from SU's "short & sweet" set

This should be a super quick card, except I managed to take most of the day - you know watched a little hockey and chatted A LOT on the phone, but I am sure this card could be made in no time if one actually focused (something I am lacking today!!)

Have a great Monday - hopefully we are done with the snow here!!!

Tea-licious

I just received this sweet Tea for Two set from MFT and had to get it inked up, so I checked the sketch challenge for this week (MFTSC72) & off I went; although I did have to flip the sketch on it's side!

The image is stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury cs with mementos black ink and then coloured with copics. I cut out the bunny's bum popped it up plus I used liquid applique and glitter to make it like "Peter Cotton Tail" I added orange peel stickles on the polka dots on the cup.

The image is cut with a rectangle nesties and layered on a scalloped rectangle nesties. The card base is papertrey white cs, layered with SU's chocolate chip. The DS paper is from My Minds Eye and it's called Bloom & Grow - I love this line probably because it has orange/pumpkin in it!! I decided to stitch the DS paper and then added pumpkin ribbon. I didn't add the sentiment; I rarely put sentiments on my cards a habit that I am having trouble breaking - this way I can use it for anything

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day

feeling a little Christmasy....

I am trying to get myself on the schedule of making a Christmas card a week - so this is my start; lets see if I can keep up the schedule!!!

For this card I used this weeks Mojo Monday 77 which a different layout for me and I am really happy with how it turned out.

I used Polar Bear in a Circle from Stamping Bella and cut the image with a marvy circle punch then layered the image on chocolate brown cs cut with a nesties scallop circle. I paper piereced both layers of the scallops.

The image is coloured with copics and I added some glimmer for the snow with Bella liquid watercolour glitter. The card base is pumpkin layered with riding hood red, both embossed with swiss dots and the ds paper is from Best Creations Inc; I really like the glitter on the snowflakes and some of the dots. I added some ruby red 7mm bonbons from Stamping Bella.

WOW I just realized I made 2 winter/holiday cards this week; I might just get all my holidays cards done ahead of schedule (yeah I'm sure the wheels will fall off this train!!)

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to check out BELLARIFFIC FRIDAYS!!! Remember you have until 5pm est. to email you card to Em for the contest & you could win Bella Bucks

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day

Ketto LOVE....

Did you see the new Stamping Bella releases on Friday?! They are so cute I am in love with these saucey Kettos!! I honestly don't know how Em keeps outdoing herself with the amazing artist she finds!!

For this card I used fellow Bella Bade Jen's SFYTT from Saturday. Suzette Ketto is stamped with mementos ink and coloured with copics. Her dress was so cute that I had to paper piece it! The DS paper is from Basic Grey; it's an older line called sultry. I added some sparkle to her flowers and lashes with a gelly roll pen.

The image is cut out with nesties ovals and layered on a scallop oval. The DS paper is paper pierced and on the band I added some Bella bon bons in fushia.

Because my card base is dark I decorated the inside of my card mimicking the layering on the front. I do this when I have a dark card base & love the effect; but never think to do it when the base is light.

Don't forget to check out the inspiration for this weeks Bellariffic Fridays, Em will be posting it today and remember everyone who participates gets entered in a draw for Bella Bucks

Have a great Monday; I know I will - I think we will venture out & do a little shopping today eventhough it's FREAKIN' cold here!!!

Bella Blooms for Cupcakes...

Hey hope you are all having a great Sunday, Karen I have been home today 'cuz it's too snowy & cold to go anywhere; she picked the wrong time of
year to come to Calgary!!!

For this card I combined two challenges; Taylors Cupcake Challenge 58 and Corrosive Challenge #2!! which was a colour inspiration challenge.
AND don't fall over BUT this is an ALL SU CARD!!! It happens SO rarely that I have to announce when it does!

Bella Blossoms is stamed with Rose Red & Kiwi Kiss onto Bella Blossoms DS paper, I then stamed the image again on SU whisper white and popped those squares up to give the image some dimension. The flower is mounted on Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss, the cardbase is Riding Hood Red. I added Kiwi Kiss ribbon & buttons from SU

If you haven't had a chance make sure you pop over and check Corrosive Challenges; they come out each Sunday & she has Blog Candy!!

Thanks for stopping by,

My Best Friend

It seemed like a long way away when my BFF booked her trip from Boston to Calgary BUT she arrives on Friday & I am getting excited - maybe that's the reason I made this "my best friend" card - I mean I am taller then her!!

For this card I used Amy R's Sketch 60. The images are from October Afternoons Night Light stamps (aren't they the cutest?!) I stamped the images on Gina K's pure luxury cs with memento black ink and coloured them with lyra pencils and mineral spirits. Naturally you HAVE to add googlie eyes to these little guys!

The base is SU's pumpkin pie layered with basic black and lavender lace cs. The DS paper is from Daisy Bucket Designs "little monsters" line that Gloria and the girls at Scrapbooker's Paradise North convinced me I "had" to have (yeah it didn't take much!!)
Thanks for another great sketch Amy - yep only 3 more sleeps til my best friend arrives!!

Have a great day

A new Challenge

I am really excited my friend Janet (Corrosive Creations by Janet) has started her own challenge blog (The Corrosive Challenge Blog)!!! Her first challenge came out today (March 1st)

For this card I used Stamping Bella's solid flowery weeds stamp. I used makers and used both pumpkin and bashful blue for the flowers and old olive for the weeds. To give the flowers some shine I added some stickles.
The image is cut with rectangle nesties and mounted on pumpkin pie cs that was embossed with a sizzix texuture plate. I added some ribbon in both olive and bashful blue then added some stamping bella dots in crackle orange.
Make sure you check out Janet's challenge blog; she will have new challenges each week and each month all participants will be entered in a blog candy draw BUT because she is so excited she is offering blog candy each WEEK this month!!!
YEAH JANET!!! Thanks for stopping by,

Dana

MARCH Calender

Yep it's March 1st & I am actually posting on time (I hope!!)

For March I natrually had to use Stamping Bella's Goodluckabella - with the luck of the Irish and all! She is stamped on Papertrey white cs and coloured with copics, I used spica on the shamrocks to try and sparkle the image up; with the calendar you can't use too large of an image or too much bling/ accessories or it will be too thick and the actual calender too small to read the dates!!

The rest of the paper is from SU

Thanks for stopping by -

What a crazy week or so...

Imagine how little ol' me (well not that old) felt when Em emailed me saying she & Nicky would like me to be a Bella Babe - I was floored, excited, then jumping up & down excited (hubby thought I was insane) THEN to receive an email from Taylor asking me to be her cupcake sampler yesterday CRAZY!!!

If you missed Bellariffic Fridays click here to see the amazing posts - Em posts the inspiration on Mondays and you just have to send her a picture of your card by 5pm EST Thurs and she will showcase your card PLUS you will be entered to win 10.00 bella bucks - what could be better?!?!

This is my card from yesterdays Bellariffic Fridays - I love these new little turtles that were part of the last release - he's just so darn cute!

Turtle Tots Picking Posies is stamped with mementos ink and coloured with copics; I added stickles to the flowers. The DS (including the yellow) is from Basic Greys Urban Prairie and the embellishments on the side are put on with the Kajinker & are the kajinker flowers which is a lot of fun

Thanks again Em & Nicky for picking me as a Babe; not only do I love both of you but if I am having a blue day I can remind myself (& hubby) that I am a Babe :)

Have a great Saturday & thanks for stopping by

I'm FEATURED!!

I can't believe Taylor Van Bruggen asked me to be her Featured Cupcake Sampler this week - I was so excited when I saw her email!!! Then once I accepted the panic set in; I would have to be on a schedule something I haven't had to do since I stopped working 6 years ago!!! I managed to calm myself down and actually focus, again something that I falter at now that I am at home; sure I can stamp for my blog but I don't HAVE to be done at a certain time, I have to say it was nice to know I can make myself focus when I have to (if only I could do that for the ironing that is piling up!)

It took a long time for me to decide on what image to use; and flutter by huggabugg from Stamping Bella was calling my name - she was perfect for the layout. She is stamped with Mementos ink and coloured with copics, I added some watercolour shimmer to her wings.

For her dots on the hat and outfit I used Taylor's Tiny Twinkles
in both orange and light green. When I first looked the little twinkles I was worried about spilling them (I have been known to be a bit of a klutz) then how to work with them because I don't have a fancy tool. I looked around and found my good old quickstik from quickkutz and the gummy part worked perfectly!!

The card base is SU's soft sky layered with certainly celery and the DS paper is from My Minds Eye's "bloom & grow" line. I pierced the paper because I thought sewing would be too much of a distraction from the twinkles. For her antenna's and along the bottom I used Stamping Bella bonbons in the same colour of orange as the twinkles.

This was a lot of fun - thanks again Taylor and have a great weekend everyone!!

TOTE-ALLY....

Fantastic challenge on the SCS MFT forum - MFTWTG23!! I hadn't inked up this stamp yet & when I found the challenge I was really excited; an excuse to ink it up and use my scraps! The challenge is to use only scrap paper for the card; and I can honestly say that's all I did - the only time I opened a container was for my Bella bon- bons YEAH ME!!!

WTG Tote-ally Fantastic is stamped on Gina K's Pure luxury cs and I paper pieced her skirt & top, used copics to colour the purses, wall and sidewalk then I used lyra pencils and mineral spirits for the stand that the purses sit on and the lines on the wall and sidewalk. I did realize it has been awhile since I was back east; I had to really think about how the brick looks which is funny because our house in Toronto, that we lived in for over 5 years was brick - how quickly we forget!!!

The card base is SU's Rose red layered with Baja Breeze and the DS paper from WeR memory makers - I love the bright colours in this line called Whiteout. I decided to sew the ds onto the baja with orange (close to pumpkin) thread - I am still getting used to the new machine but I must admit I am having fun sewing again (on paper not my hubbys pants that are still waiting to be hemmed!) The image is layered on Baja Breeze and Pumpkin pie. I added some Bella orange bon bons but didn't want to put too much on the card front because I love the paper showing through.

I decorated the inside of the card just layered some Gina K pure luxury cs on Baja Breeze then added 2 strips of the ds paper.

I picked this paper partly because I wanted bright coloured purses; of the 4 I have 3 of the colours - I currently don't own the green coloured purse but I never say never!!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day I think I will be shovelling again...

HALO...

aBella is so sweet & lucky for more I got to paper piece to my hearts content!!

I finally had a chance to play along with Amy R's Friday Sketch 50 - I honestly don't know where the weekends go! Yesterday I went to a movie (not an Oscar nominated one because that would be a logical choice, to see at least 1 of them) but really that's just a few hours out of the day!

Anyways...Haloabella is stamped with memento ink and the l little colouring I did is with copics, all the paper piecing is from Basic Grey's porcelain collection. I added some glitter to her wings and the clouds and her halo (we all have them right?!) is coloured with a gelly roll pen.

The sentiment is from stamping bella and I added some small cotton candy bon bons

Remember Bellariffic Fridays are back click here to see the wonderful inspiration Nickabella found for us! Everyone can play, just email your bella creation to Em before 5pm EST on Thurs.

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day we`re suppose to get more snow & it`s really cold again; I know it`s because my Hubby is in Florida working & golfing!!

JUST DRIVIN' BY

I realized I have neglectetd my little Elzybells from Amuse to I decided it was time to ink one up - thet problem is whenever I use a little Elyzbells I think how I need to order the originals!

I knew this image would be perfect for Jen's SFYTT from Saturday. Elzybell is stamped on Gina K's pure luxury cs and coloured with copics. I chose the colours based on the DS paper from WeR Memory Makers White Out collection and I love it because of the vibrant colours and of course it has orange :) The card base is su's chocolate chip, layered with rose red then the DS paper.

Thanks for stopping by - it's a late post because I was watching the Oscars- if you watched what did you think?

Just Hanging Around...

I love this image from Stamping Bella it was one of the first non "bellas" I bought - the first of many!!
For this card I played along with Taylor's Cupcake Challenge, which was fantastic as usual!!
The funky clothesline is stamped with memento black ink and coloured with copics. I added Niji Pearlescent watercolours to the bird and crystal effects on the polka dots to give them some shine. The image is cut with nesties oval and layered on Rose Red, pumpkin pie and chocolate chip cs.

The card base is SU chocolate chip and the DS paper is from WeR memory makers White out collection & is layered on rose red. I added some chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon. I decorated the inside of the card; which every time I do I think I should do it more often because I love how it looks! I layered pumpkin pie, rose red and white cs then layered to photo corners cut with su's punch. The sentiment is also from Stamping Bella - they have great sentiments in funky fonts.

Hope you all have a fantastic Saturday, and thanks for stopping by!

finally inked...

On Monday Joanne announced the Gina K's challenge this week; ink up a stamp you haven't used and then confess how long it's been waiting to see ink - well this stamp was part of my birthday gift from my Hubby and was birthday was just before Christmas BUT I will use the disclaimer that it had a wee bit of a stay at Canadian customs (really not a very good excuse!!)

For this card I combined a total of 3 challenges on SCS - Gina K's Get Inky; SC216 and CC206. The colour challenge is More Mustard, Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss or Old Olive - I love this colour combo so I had to play along.

The stamp is from Gina K's A Year Of Flowers and it's inked (finally) with memento black and stamped on Gina K's 80lb Pure Luxury cs. I coloured the image with Lyras and Mineral spirits; which I still find really challenging to get the shading but one must practice!! I used lots layers on the card with the base being Gina K's Pure Luxury 120lb cs, layered with more mustard & more mustard DS paper, then the scallops are rose red layered with Kiwi Kiss ds, both cut with nesties. I then added a strip of kiwi kiss and rose red ds paper.

Thanks for all the great challenges & have a great day!

Life Imitating Art....

Yep this is basically how I have been feeling the past couple of days! My Stamping Bella order arrived today (thanks Ryan!!) so I knew immediately which stamp I was going to ink up!
I was finally able to get to Taylors Cupcake Challenge 55 for this card - it was a challenging layout for me; part of that could be the fluey feeling I have right now :(

Fluey Huggabug is stamped with mementos ink and coloured with copics, I cut out a second set of wings and popped them up with some glitter on them. I used Stamping Bella Bonbons for the antennas. The DS paper is Basic Greys new line marrakech which I love (maybe it's because there's orange?!) It's layered on SU's Pacific point and tangerine tango; two colours I really haven't used too much but they really worked with the DS paper. The card base is SU Baja Breeze.
I added some kajinker vinyl flowers in the top right corner - orange again :) they are put on with the Kajinker; a great tool that Em brought in before I moved from TO & of course as soon as she showed it to me it was in my basket!

I was waiting for this cute little huggabug to make a card for my brothers friend who was in a serious ski accident, he was hit by a snowboarder & had been in the hospital for a few weeks - he was like another brother to me so I wanted to let him know I was thinking about him.

Thanks for stopping by - hopefully I won't be feeling fluey much longer!!
