Killing Kits - Mini Album Foundations

Hello lovelies! It's time for the next video of the Killing Kits Series!I'll be here at the end of each month with a new video - and some of the DT will be popping in, in-between, to share their own ideas for Killing Kits. (Did you see Susan's video earlier this month? I must admit that I haven't had chance to watch it, I don't know where the month has vanished to! I'm looking forward to a massive catch up soon!)

This time around, I've created the foundations of a mini-album with some of cardstock and die-cuts from my kit leftovers - and for now, it's a blank canvas. I think it would be lovely to send it as 'Happy Mail', but I also love the idea of filling it with teeny, tiny photographs, or maybe a selection of favourite quotes!

Newer members of our community may like to watch the full series, which includes an introduction and an overview of how I store my kit leftovers and I would love to hear your comments here, on YouTube, or over in the Counterfeit Kit Facebook Community.

I'll be back next month with more ideas for using up these last little bits. In the meantime, let me know if there's anything that you always struggle to use!

The 12 Days of Christmas | Ten Lords A-Leaping

Hello! Hello! It's Clair here with a little Christmas Cheer - and, of course - with my contribution to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge's Twelve Days of Christmas! If it's been a while since you last visited, do check out the amazing inspiration from the rest of the Master Forgers!

Today, I have 'Ten Lords A Leaping' to inspire me and I must admit that I was a bit stuck at first, but after a little rumination (and one ... or two ... stollen bites!) I decided to use a list as the basis for a mini-album. But ... I only decided on the theme once I chose my kit!

Having taken so much time to think of an idea, I needed a kit - and quick. So, I decided to use the remnants of an earlier Counterfeit Kit (all of which I store in little files!) Look there's so much loveliness in there. I'm so happy to have used some of it at last!

The kit had lots of embellishments that referred to love, happiness and family, so I finally decided on a theme for my mini-album. 'Ten Reasons, I love You!' I made ten bases from the cardstock, then embellished them with stickers, labels, sequins, buttons and cute embellishments from the kit.

Finally, I made a little 'Sequin Pocket' with some Spiegelmom Scraps Sequins left over from my November Wild Hare Kit. The colours match the album amazingly! I added two little die-cut stars, then stitched them in (as a backing for the sentiment) and now, all I need to do is add a little bit of journalling and I have an extra little gift to pop under the tree!

I hope that, in the midst of all the hustle and bustle, that this easy little mini-album (made with the remnants of an old kit) may inspire you to take some time to create!

Wonderful World of Color: A Color Wheel Mini Book

Welcome to our (Inter)National Scrapbook Day colorful extravaganza at Counterfeit Kit Challenge.  It's Lynnette and I'm here this round to provide you with a bit of color inspiration to get you in the mood.  Speaking of mood, isn't it amazing how color can evoke such strong feelings?  The fabulous Jennifer Grace showcased a rainbow of layouts focusing on Color Mood in the previous post, so here's a mini book to build on that concept.

 Color psychology

Grab some scraps of paper in the ROYGBIV color families and let's make a mini!  (I actually omitted the indigo for ease of making a simplified pie chart.)  Six pie wedges will do the trick.  I found some round cardboard coasters in the dollar section of Target that made the perfect base for my book.
Plus, pie charts are so on-trend right now!

Next, find some photos that match the color characteristics.  To drive home the feel, I tried to find photos that mostly featured the color.

A little touch of washi in the corresponding color...

with some tiny alphas to spell out the descriptive word...

and a sticker to add some love.

What a sweet little way to showcase the many sides of my dear daughter (plus a few photo bombs by my son!  LOL!)

Some rainbow ribbon or ribbon scraps in ROYGBIV always dress up the binder ring nicely.

Keep these colors/character traits in mind the next time you are capturing the essence of someone special on your scrapbook layout or in your very own Color Wheel Mini Book.

Be sure to keep checking back to our blog the rest of today and tomorrow for more inspiration, challenges and prizes!

Happy Scrapping!

Lynnette
