October Challenge #2: 3-D Project

Challenge #2: 3-D Project.  Let's all get out of our comfort zones.  No cards, layouts or mini albums.  Don't be scared by the above projects (really, they are stunning), but try your hand at your own 3-D paper project.

If my design team has not fallen over yet from the out of the box creating they had  got to do...here is a peek at their projects:

Kelly created cute fall centerpieces for her dining room table. You can see more at her blog.

Susanne whipped up a pumpkin place card that started out with a punched shape from an unused pocket card - more angles and details on her blog.

Julene has covered a paper mache heart with bridal lace and cute heart buttons.
(and herself with mod podge)

We would LOVE to have you participate!  Check out the How to play along with us tab at the top of the page to see how you can play along after you make your kit!  We have a month full of special challenges and ideas so we can get some creating done and get some supplies used up.

Stylish Refridgerator

I don't dare show you the front of my fridge.  Don't ask me.  It is nice and clean , but has become a storage board of papers for the kids.  (Yes, we do have a bulletin board, too...that is also full!  UGH!)  We also seem to collect magnets.  Random ones.  From places we have never been.

Now why can't my fridge look like this?

Seriously, how cute is that?  There are detailed instructions on the Basic Grey Blog.   Now please make me feel better about my fridge and tell me that yours looks "lived in", too...LOL

Julie Ann's September Seven Seas Page and Altered Kit

OH MY GOODNESS!  Julie Ann has spoiled us this month!  Her add on page kit is...well...I have no words!

September Seven Seas Page/Altered KitCreate a kit to finish up or feature memorabilia from this summer and Labor Day.

My kit features nautical papers from Pink Paislee, nautical charms, vintage photos, postcards and ephemera, hand-crafted felt embellishments, co-ordinating laces, ribbons, and flowers.

Dare: I dare you to create a scrapbook page that looks like an altered printer's tray!

Give Julie Ann some love, please!  Head on over to her blog and check out her other fun projects!

The Wheels on the Bus

How cute is this?

Seriously, go to the  Maya Road Design Team Blog and take a good look at Jen's super cute project.  What a great idea for my MANY blank chipboard albums (I'm talking drawers full here, people.)  Way to think outside of the mini album.

Super Cute Teacher Gift!

It is that time of year again.  School starting means a year full of gift giving.  Being a former teacher myself, I love to show the teachers at my kids' school how important they are.  Usually, I make these for the first day:

I fill them with hand sanitizer, chapstick, chocolate, tissues and small office supplies.  This year I found this:

I think these might be a fun change for this year.  Do you do anything special for the teachers in your life?

How to dress up your fridge!

Does anyone else have a fridge problem?  Too many kitchy  magnets?  Notes stuck all over?

Mine  is a good mix of magnets, notes, lists and recipes.  I hate it.  It looks....motherly.  LOL

I am determined to make my fridge look better....classier.  At least less cluttered.

Here are some fun ideas for things you can use your stash to make for your fridge:
Personalized Photo Magnets
Spring Magnets
Fabric Magnet Set
Make your own Notepads
Menu Board (could put on fridge)

And now for my FAVORITE FIND!
Check out this blog!   Lots of fun things to look at, great things to order and even downloads!

Now go to THIS post...scroll down...scroll down...STOP!  Do you see the refridgerator list project by Kinseygirl?  Do you?  Isn't that AWESOME?  Now I would want to do things around the house if I could play with that pretty list.

How are you going to dress up YOUR fridge?  Or am I just nuts here?  LOL

Altered Mini Composition Books

So, I am always looking for fun things to do with my scraps before I move onto the next project.  Usually I whip out a bunch of cards before I call it quits, but I have been itching to do somthing different this time.  I spied some altered composition books on a blog and ran out to Dollar Tree to pick some up.  They are 3/$1 and are an easy project to use up scraps and make some kids/friends very happy.  Here is one I made:

Confession:  Yep.  This one is for me.  If you spied the owl then you probably already knew it.  LOL  I have several more to alter for some of my kids friends, though.  Honest!

You don't really need them, but here are some other sites about Altered Mini Notebooks:
**Really, these are so easy my husband could make them!  LOL

Sherri's Etsy Challenge

Printer's Tray:
When I heard about this challenge, I knew right away that I wanted to make a printer's tray.  I had seen some on Etsy before, and I loved them!  I also knew that I could make my own for a fraction of the cost.  I found this printer's tray which I absolutely loved: Etsy Printer's Tray.

Because I am a frugal scrapper, I thought I could save a lot of money just by re-purposing a shelf.  I found this one for only 45 cents at Goodwill!  You can see the original shelf on my blog-I love looking at the before and after shots!  Almost everything I used to alter it was from this month's kit.  The only things that I added were some epoxy brads.  I made the most of the die-cuts from my kit, plus lots of fun tools like punches and stamps.  Did you notice that the dress form and sewing machine were stamped on a transparency?  No transparencies in my kit, though-check out my blog for how I made these accents from my kit.

(  Don't you just love it!  To see more about Sherri's project, please go to Bits and Pieces of Me.)
