September's Counterfeit Kit and DT Hop

It is back to school and back to a normal schedule here in the Hardy house.  Hallelujah!  LOL  I am a routine kind of girl.  I love knowing what is coming next and tend to work first and play later.  That OCD tendency makes it a bit tricky to get crafting time in...any other "work is never done" readers?  Who is with me?  Oh well, that will be a fun thing for me to get over.

In the Spirit of FUN, let's jump right into our kit for this month.  Scrapbook Circle had a wonderful kit with some very interesting designs for last month.  I think we can get a bit out of the box with this one, don't you?

                                     SC_Aug14_kit1

For a complete look at the kit, head over to SCRAPBOOK CIRCLE for more photos and a list of the kit elements.  You can also check out the SC BLOG for some great photos of the elements and ideas for the kit.

Our Guest Designer for this month is the very creative Tina from Tina's Scrap Corner.

I've always been a crafter of some sort but scrapbookin' started with a couple of friends introducing me to the craft in 2007 and I've been at it ever since. I always loved taking pictures but then I just put them in an album, but scrapbooking changed all that, it redefined for me how to present a photo. I also enjoy other paper crafts like making cards, smashin/crushin and project life, but scrapbooking is my favorite. I enhance my scrapbooking with tools of the trade, I enjoy using my cameo, big shot, cricut and cuttlebug.  I love using sketches to help me streamline my scrappin and I like learning new techniques. A friend introduced me to Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog and I then found another way to streamline my scrapping by having an available kit ready to go each month. I am married to a great man and my best friend for 21 years, we are empty nesters and we are the family owners of Jake and Buddy our 2 Austrialian Cattle dogs (Blue Heelers). Between the 2 of us we have 8 kids, 18 grandkids, 1 Ggrandchild and 1 on the way. I definetly have plenty to scrap about and you will usually see my family in my scrappin, see I'm the one usually behind the camera...

A BIG WARM WELCOME TO TINA!  I know she has some awesome things planned for us this month (I sort of peeked!)

I heard some chatter from the Design Team about the Fox's in this month's kit.  I am interested to count up how many of them threw in a Fox or two.  Let's see how many you can find in our hop this month.  Here is the list of DT blogs for you to view, comment on and get inspired by.  Then get moving on your own kit and don't forget to link up to Mr. Linky!

We have another WELCOME BACK to give to SHERRI.  It was hard to not spill the beans last month when she was guest designer, but we are happy to have her back on the team.

Milk and Cookies for Santa

Merry Christmas, everyone!  This is Sherri, and I want to share some adorable ideas that I found online for leaving out milk and cookies for Santa.  Some are simple and include free downloads for you to print; others are more elaborate but totally inspiring.  I hope you find an idea that inspires you, too!  The links to original blog posts are below the photos.

 Merry Christmas!
This first photo just amazes me.  Isn’t it beautiful?  It’s also the perfect alternative for me, since my kids aren’t little anymore.  The “grown-up” feeling would be great for a holiday party, as well.  There is a link to an affordable download, or you could take inspiration from the photo and make your own decorations.

This next photo is from a fabulous blog called “Tatertots and Jello.”  Tons of great ideas and free printables!  The “Cookies for Santa” printable is a free download that you can print on white cardstock or patterned paper (like Jen did.)  I love the patterned background-I think this would look great printed on ledger paper, don’t you?  Just print, add some red baker’s twine, and attach to any empty jar.  I like the glass mug, too!

This last photo is also a free printable that would be perfect for those procrastinators (like myself) who decide on Christmas Eve that they want to do something special for Santa.  Simply print the sentiment, have your child sign the letter, then frame it.  Display the frame beside a plate of cookies and a glass of milk.  I love the little milk bottle in the printable-an empty Frappuccino bottle would be perfect to hold milk for Santa!
I hope you’ve enjoyed these ideas-and I hope that your holidays are the happiest!  Merry Christmas!

Christmas Gift Card Holders by Sherri

With less than 10 shopping days left until Christmas, are you beginning to wonder if you will be able to finish your holiday shopping?  Every year, I tell myself that I will begin my shopping earlier and finish before December even arrives.  Never happens-ever!  I find myself resorting to gift cards at the last minute, especially for some of my hard-to-buy-for relatives.  To add a personal touch, I love to wrap the gift cards in a cute little gift card holder.  Here are some festive gift card holders, for both kids and adults, that I found on Pinterest:

Here is a cute cash holder, too!

I’m so sad that this will be my last post for the Counterfeit Kit challenge, but I am so very glad to have found this incredible blog and met the wonderful girls who make it so much fun.  I can’t wait to play along again this summer.  Until then, may you all have the happiest of holidays!
Hugs, Sherri

Tutorial- Paper Counterfeiting

This piece of paper by Sassafras was in this month's Inspiration Kit
Sherri created a wonderful tutorial for counterfeiting the stitched look on the back side of this piece of paper.  See Sherri's tutorial here. (PS- Sherri is having small give away on her blog, since this tutorial is her 300th post, all you have to do is comment  on her post and you are entered!)

There was also a strip of peach colored "paper lace"  in this month's Inspiration Kit.  These are very easy to replicate using some scrap paper and a cute border punch!
An example of my Counterfeit Lace Paper... used a Martha Stewart punch.

Sherri's Layout Mini Challenge #3-"Frames"

"I am still trying to make a dent in my bottomless stash of chipboard!  I trimmed my frame to better fit my design, painted it with acrylic paint, then heat embossed it with iridescent embossing powder.  I then used Glossy Accents to adhere a little gem in the hole in each scallop.  Being the frugal scrapper that I am, I saved the side that I cut from the frame to use as a chipboard border on another project."

Sherri's Etsy Challenge

Printer's Tray:
When I heard about this challenge, I knew right away that I wanted to make a printer's tray.  I had seen some on Etsy before, and I loved them!  I also knew that I could make my own for a fraction of the cost.  I found this printer's tray which I absolutely loved: Etsy Printer's Tray.

Because I am a frugal scrapper, I thought I could save a lot of money just by re-purposing a shelf.  I found this one for only 45 cents at Goodwill!  You can see the original shelf on my blog-I love looking at the before and after shots!  Almost everything I used to alter it was from this month's kit.  The only things that I added were some epoxy brads.  I made the most of the die-cuts from my kit, plus lots of fun tools like punches and stamps.  Did you notice that the dress form and sewing machine were stamped on a transparency?  No transparencies in my kit, though-check out my blog for how I made these accents from my kit.

(  Don't you just love it!  To see more about Sherri's project, please go to Bits and Pieces of Me.)
