Christmas at CKC - 12 Days of Christmas - Challenge #9 - MF Leslie

We are all dancing round here but let's see where this prompt took MF Leslie today!

MF Leslie here - so happy that you are joining us for another fun, inspiring seasonal challenge. A few days prior to the Master Forger Design Team receiving the details about the December prompts, I ran across digital photos of this 2004 family outing that was somehow never scrapped! How often does THAT happen? Definitely a God breeze. Not only did the live performance fit the theme but the music angle figures into our family tradition.

I first searched for a theatre graphic to frame my stage photo & found this from The Graphics Fairy.

Isn't it cute? I added my photo in Photoshop. Next I fussy-cut the nutcracker & the ballet slippers from this 2012 Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet collection. Fussy-cutting makes me so happy! I also used the N card & added a few subtle bling embellishments to each.

I decided what size I needed the audience photo to be & created a Photoshop file that incorporated my journaling in white letters on a black background to blend in with my page. The final touch was a little gold star sequin with a musical note next to my journaling that meets all three criteria for this challenge!

Be sure to return tomorrow for the Ten Lords A-Leaping prompt!

We'd love it if you'd join in.

As always you can share kits, layouts and projects with us in our Facebook Communityor tag us over on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcdecember2022 and #ckc12daysofchristmas).

Thanks so much for stopping by! We can't wait to see you playing along with our festive fun this month.

Thanks for stopping by!

A few sad goodbyes and a Counterfeit Kit Challenge Master Forger Design Team Call – 2018

First of all, I’d like to make a long overdue but ever so sad announcement about some of our wonderful Master Forgers who have left, or are leaving, our very close and happy team.

Master Forgers Stephanie, Jemma and Lesley decided some time ago to move on to different things and we already miss them greatly. To be honest, I held off announcing their departure as I was hoping that they would decide to stay on with us, and I know that they are "lurking" in the background which I love and they are very much welcome to continue to do so, but now is the time to thank them from the bottom of my heart for being so awesome when they were with us and to wish them all the very best for the future. I’ve met each of these lovely women in real life and hope very much that we will meet again in the future!

Their contributions, not only in the scrapbook kits they made and the projects they shared with us, but also behind the scenes on the blog, the FB community page or within the team were generous, creative and an asset to us all.

Please join me in thanking them for their time, energy and creativity!

I’m also sobbing over my keyboard while I’m writing because I have to announce that Master Forger Susanne will also be leaving us at the end of the year. I’ve “known” Susanne for even longer than we’ve been on the CKC team together and as a fellow Scorpio, we have a connection that spans the many thousands of miles between us. She has been making me smile with her inimitable wit since I've known her and she has continued to make me laugh out loud each and every month in the very wonderful “Scribbles from my Scrap Studio” here on the CKC blog in 2017. Oh yes, and she’s a fabulous crafter to boot!

I’d just like to add that the door is always open to them in they ever want to come back to us, and they should feel free to lurk as much as they like!

So thank you to you ALL and we miss you already.

Which brings me to a happier part of this post:

Design Team Call for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge team in 2018
January to December 2018

We are looking for passionate kitters and paper crafters to join the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Master Forger team to join us in 2018 (January to December 2018).

  • create your own kit using the inspiration
  • create a project using one of the two featured challenges from the month chosen

  • in addition to your kit and project photos, your email should include some information about you, any current design teams you contribute to, your crafting story and where we can find you online (social media, blog, online galleries, YouTube etc).

As a Master Forger for 2018 you will be expected to:

  • create a kit each month based on an inspiration kit and showcase it in a design team blog (or other social media platform) hop
  • create a project for at least one CKC challenge each month

November 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 - Bundle Up

In cooler weather, we start dressing in layers stay warm. For the third challenge of the month, dress your project for the crisp air by using lots of layers.

Susanne whipped up this quick layout by layering the remaining scraps from her November kit.

Clair used layers on a small scale to create some cute, little tags. See more of them on her blog, Obstinate Pursuit.

Lesley just piled those layers on, you can see more photos on her BLOG

Lynnette layered up some pocket page cards in this sweet layout.

Forgeries on the Fourth - November Tutorials

for·ger·y

  1. the action of forging or producing a copy of a document, signature, banknote, or work of art.

Welcome to "Forgeries on the Fourth" where it is no crime to create your own version of the trendy, hip products from the inspiration kit using your own stash and ingenuity.  Each month on the fourth, check out tutorials from your Master Forgers or links to resources they have found for you on the internet.

Let's refresh our memories on this month's kit...

Ahhh, yes.
  That's the one.
Let's see what your Master Forgers have gathered up for you.

Susan found these printables that coordinate nicely with the inspiration kit. They are intended for planners but would make great embellishments for scrapbook pages.
SnS Treasures Blog

And on the same theme, Lisa also tracked down some free printables which can be used on all types of projects:
And some free Silhouette cut files:
Lisa also made up some die-cut foxes to match the theme of her kit using a multi-piece die but with some clever hand drawing and a bit of scissor work, you could easily build your own. Try searching on Pinterest for fox templates and you'll find several cute and simple variations:

And matching the printed twill in the inspiration kit, Lisa got her stamps out and made her own. Simple, quick and easy - just the sort of forgeries that Lisa's so fond of!

You can see more details over on Lisa's blog here.

Lesley has created some tags using her scraps and made some easy strips using Word

Lynnette spotted these autumnal paper trees on an Etsy site HERE for $15!  Now I KNOW my scissors can whip up these fabulous fall finds.  No machines needed!  The wonkier the better!

We would love to see anything that our members create using the tutorials we've found - and, even more so, if you counterfeit something from scratch. Please do share with us by adding a link to our monthly Mr. Linky!

October 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 for October 2016 - Playing Dress-Up!

Source

Halloween is a night for costumes and disguises. For this month's final challenge, it's time to dress up your project! You can disguise it with distressing, paint or ink. Go incognito with hidden journaling, a mask or stencils. Add a little dazzle with stitching, bling or sequins. Just make sure you include that extra special something to take your project from plain to fancy!

Susanne has used glittery gold stickers and gold pearlized ink to add bits of glitz to her card.  You can read more details and see another example on her blog of her go-to finishing touch for cards.  Can you guess what it is?

Lesley didn't have to do much to her layout, you can see why over on her blog

Lynnette dressed up her "outdoors-y" photo with a bit of gold on her layout.  I know Lisa will agree with her that one can never go wrong with gold!

Susan has quite the tale to tell about making this page:

LesleyG has created some papers using the contents of her bathroom cupboard! All the details can be found on her BLOG.

Lisa surprised even herself with the success of these tassels! They took far less time than she'd originally thought and came out really well. Find out the details on her blog here:

Kelly was inspired by the sticky notes in the Indigo Hills collection--she found this tutorial on how to make your own customized sticky notes using paper scraps.

Julene also forged some papers

Just the Gist of It - October 2016

Hey! Lesley here bringing you Just the Gist Of the Kit for October.

What did you think of the reveal yesterday?
Didn't see it? Check back HERE.

If you were a little overwhelmed by the 16 double sided papers
and don't know where to start
then
3 is the Magic Number!

Now if you've just burst into song and started dancing around the room
and everyone else in the room is looking at you like you've
completely lost it, don't worry, just get on and build that kit.

(If you think I've gone completely mad and have no idea what I'm talking about then google
De La Soul- Magic Number)

Choose your 3 favourite papers
Add in a pack of alphas
Stir in some ephemera or stickers
Break open a set of rubber stamps
And stick it together with a roll of washi tape

And that really is Just the Gist Of It!

September 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 for September 2016 - Kate Spade Inspired

I had to do it-as soon as I picked the kit, I knew this would be one of the challenges from the beginning, too, LOL! Anyway, for this challenge, I want you to be inspired by anything and everything Kate Spade. Here is a pinboard that I have created of my personal favorites:

LesleyG didn't have a clue who Kate Spade is. That handy Google feature that we all love to use gave her the inspiration she needed to come up with this layout. You can see which Kate Spade product inspired Lesley HERE

Lynnette recalls a time when she fell in love with a Kate Spade bag in the department store, "Lord & Taylor".  Alas...this love wasn't meant to be.  Sigh!

Margie was inspired by bows and black and white stripes for this challenge, and here is the page that she made:

LesleyG has A Few Forgeries to share today ...

Lisa had a go at two simple ideas - as always with mixed results!
Why not head over to see what worked and what needs some improvement?

And Kelly crafted a set of cute coordinating cards for her kit. See all the details on her blog.

Susan forged two items from the inspiration kit:

The Felicity Jane kits usually include a selection of labels. Susan found this site
with some labels you can download to color-coordinate with your kit.

How about some custom flair? This easy-peasy technique yields some delightful results!

And for a little throwback FOF inspiration, the CKC May 2016 kit included some painted embellishments. Check it out at this Forgeries on the Fourth LINK
