February Kit Challenge #2

How do you like to spend your weekend?

Challenge #2 is "Weekend time"

Interpret that however you like.

Laura created this layout documenting an ordinary weekend at home. "Weekends are pretty boring in our house as I have to work Saturday and Sunday nights but it's still 'real life' and worth documenting!"

Don't forget to check out Laura over on Instagram. You can find her at https://www.instagram.com/mrsp_scrapsandtea/

Kelly made this layout about how she loves to just relax on the weekends. She and her husband like to read with a cup of coffee. Her kids enjoy playing video games together.

Cindy made this layout combining her weekend chores and what she enjoys doing when they are done.

You can find more about her layout here.

No rest for the weary for Lynnette!  Her weekends are full of theatre commitments and getting her thespians to rehearsal (and fed) on time!

Margie scrapped photos from a favorite weekend activity a few years ago; time at the park with her kiddos in the spring:

She has details and more photos up on her blog, along with her answer to challenge #1, Paris.

We love seeing your work, so be sure to share your kits and projects with us. You can do this by using the Link-Up page here on the blog, posting in the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Facebook Community Group or on Instagram (find us @counterfeitchallenge and share with #counterfeitchallenge )

July Challenge #2--Frame It Up!

This month’s kit contains a cute patterned paper frame.

The second challenge for this month is to use one or more frames on your project.

You could use frames made from cardstock or wood veneer,
or you could make your own from your favorite patterned paper.

Just frame it up!

Our Guest Designer this month--Megan Blethen--created this fantastic layout using several frames as embellishments. The frames make adorable homes for more embellishments as well as journaling.

Master Forger Lynnette has a confession to make!
She didn't have any frames in her kit this month.
While she could have made some,
she knew she had some perfectly perfect frames just winking at her over in her stash.
So, she snatched them up and used them in her kit for this challenge.
You know that's allowed, right?
Your kit...your layout...your rules!

Here's what Lynnette created using some frames.

The mounted cardstock and patterned paper give the illusion of a frame around the center photo, while the actual chipboard frames serve as a nice little home
for the flair and a close up of Annie's locket.
Whether you have actual frames in your kit...
 or you smuggle some in...
or you make some...
or you fool the eye with some layering...
hope this inspiration puts you on EASY STREET for the layout you'll make TOMORROW!
It's only a day away!

Kelly used a frame on her page to draw attention to her title. She took a plain cardstock frame and layered it with a sticker, washi tape, and a little twine to make her own custom embellishment.

May 2017 Challenge #2 Mix It Up

Challenge #2 - Mix It Up

Be creative with your title and get mixing.

Create a title using different styles of font, different sizes of letter or even a combination of letters and ready made words.

Make a longer title or get clever with a single word that says more than the word itself.

Embed your title in your journalling or as part of the photo or the background paper.

Check out Pinterest for some interesting takes on creative titles and incorporate a title that's out of the box!

Let's see what our wonderful Guest Designer Christy as well as creative Master Forgers Lynnette and Susan have mixed together for us!

Guest Designer Christy has this fabulous layout to share with us.

"I approached the title by choosing word art, then adding in the title with mini letters and foam letters. The navy foam letters are comprised of two sets of alphabet stickers. The shade of navy is slightly different. I hid this shade difference a bit with some glitter glue. "

Love it!

Head over to her blog here for more details as well as a video!

Lynnette is generally about the mix and not the match when it comes to her titles and this double page spread is no exception.  She used letter stickers to spell out the departure and arrival airport codes, a pre-made word and tiny alphas to mix her title.

Susan created this page for the challenge.  Check her blog to find out what inspired her title!

March 2017 Challenge #2: Spring Showers

Spring Showers: Make a project incorporating some sort of wet media. Ideas: watercolor, mist, paint, or take a twist on the challenge and use a photo of something wet; i.e. pool, beach, etc.

Here is a look at how our designers took the challenge:

Leslie lucked out in that she just returned from a beach vacation,
plus she had a watercolor counterfeit paper in her kit this month!

Lynnette used a photo recently taken at an indoor water park.  Doesn't get more wet and wild than that!  She even used some spring showers inspired chipboard pieces that just happened to be in her kit.

Julene used a great wet technique to showcase these colorful beads.
Read more about it on her blog HERE.

Grab your rain slicker and be sure to shower us with your take on this challenge.
Share on our facebook page or Mr. Linky!

November 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 - Bundle Up

In cooler weather, we start dressing in layers stay warm. For the third challenge of the month, dress your project for the crisp air by using lots of layers.

Susanne whipped up this quick layout by layering the remaining scraps from her November kit.

Clair used layers on a small scale to create some cute, little tags. See more of them on her blog, Obstinate Pursuit.

Lesley just piled those layers on, you can see more photos on her BLOG

Lynnette layered up some pocket page cards in this sweet layout.

Forgeries on the Fourth - November Tutorials

for·ger·y
ˈfôrjərē/
noun
  1. the action of forging or producing a copy of a document, signature, banknote, or work of art.

Welcome to "Forgeries on the Fourth" where it is no crime to create your own version of the trendy, hip products from the inspiration kit using your own stash and ingenuity.  Each month on the fourth, check out tutorials from your Master Forgers or links to resources they have found for you on the internet.

Let's refresh our memories on this month's kit...

Ahhh, yes.
  That's the one.
Let's see what your Master Forgers have gathered up for you.

Susan found these printables that coordinate nicely with the inspiration kit. They are intended for planners but would make great embellishments for scrapbook pages.
SnS Treasures Blog

And on the same theme, Lisa also tracked down some free printables which can be used on all types of projects:
And some free Silhouette cut files:
Lisa also made up some die-cut foxes to match the theme of her kit using a multi-piece die but with some clever hand drawing and a bit of scissor work, you could easily build your own. Try searching on Pinterest for fox templates and you'll find several cute and simple variations:

And matching the printed twill in the inspiration kit, Lisa got her stamps out and made her own. Simple, quick and easy - just the sort of forgeries that Lisa's so fond of!

You can see more details over on Lisa's blog here.

Lesley has created some tags using her scraps and made some easy strips using Word

Lynnette spotted these autumnal paper trees on an Etsy site HERE for $15!  Now I KNOW my scissors can whip up these fabulous fall finds.  No machines needed!  The wonkier the better!

We would love to see anything that our members create using the tutorials we've found - and, even more so, if you counterfeit something from scratch. Please do share with us by adding a link to our monthly Mr. Linky!

October 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 for October 2016 - Playing Dress-Up!

Source

Halloween is a night for costumes and disguises. For this month's final challenge, it's time to dress up your project! You can disguise it with distressing, paint or ink. Go incognito with hidden journaling, a mask or stencils. Add a little dazzle with stitching, bling or sequins. Just make sure you include that extra special something to take your project from plain to fancy!

Susanne has used glittery gold stickers and gold pearlized ink to add bits of glitz to her card.  You can read more details and see another example on her blog of her go-to finishing touch for cards.  Can you guess what it is?

Lesley didn't have to do much to her layout, you can see why over on her blog

Lynnette dressed up her "outdoors-y" photo with a bit of gold on her layout.  I know Lisa will agree with her that one can never go wrong with gold!

Susan has quite the tale to tell about making this page:

September 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 for September 2016 - Kate Spade Inspired

I had to do it-as soon as I picked the kit, I knew this would be one of the challenges from the beginning, too, LOL! Anyway, for this challenge, I want you to be inspired by anything and everything Kate Spade. Here is a pinboard that I have created of my personal favorites:

LesleyG didn't have a clue who Kate Spade is. That handy Google feature that we all love to use gave her the inspiration she needed to come up with this layout. You can see which Kate Spade product inspired Lesley HERE

Lynnette recalls a time when she fell in love with a Kate Spade bag in the department store, "Lord & Taylor".  Alas...this love wasn't meant to be.  Sigh!

Margie was inspired by bows and black and white stripes for this challenge, and here is the page that she made:

August 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 for August 2016 - Sounds Foreign to Me!

foreign

adjective

 UK /ˈfɒr.ən/  US /ˈfɔːr.ən/

belonging or connected to a country that is not your own:

Spain was the first foreign country she had visited.

foreign languages
In honour of our German inspiration kit, and the fact that you might have had a go at understanding the kit content list, I'd like you to be inspired by foreign words on your project.

Lesley used her forged words to detail a little part of her Barcelona trip.

Lynnette found a little time to rendezvous with her sweetheart on their cruise to Bermuda.
Sail on over to her blog here to find out more!

Leslie used her neutral kit to document life at the woodland retreat.
