Hey... I can make THAT!

July Tutorials

Welcome to "Hey...I can make THAT!"  A monthly post to help you truly counterfeit many of the components of the current month's kit.  No need to go out and purchase...just use the supplies you already have to create some of the freshest and trendiest products out there.  Here you will find links to our amazing design team members' blogs and/or links to other craft sites on the web showing how to make these amazing products.

By now I'm sure you've had the chance to play around with this inspiration kit from Scrapbook & Cards Today.  It just screams "Summer Fun" and that's good because that's its name!

If you haven't started counterfeiting yet, you still have plenty of time to get going.  Check out the July Reveal post here to find out all the ins and outs.
Have you found your "angle"?  Are you going for a direct copy or are you going "rogue" and running off in your own direction?  Or, if you've already assembled your kit, you may want to fill in some gaps with some of these fun products you may not have by making your own.

First up, we have those fantastic black and white Thickers.  Several of your Master Forgers have given them a try.  Whether it's using a Cricut, some old chipboard letters or even some stamps, you are sure to find a way to make them with what you have in your stash.

Here's a link to Lynnette's version plus a close-up look at the way she copied the Glitz Bits and Pieces paper.

And here's a link to Lisa's version (as well as several other easy counterfeits of a few of the kit items):

Next we have some paper counterfeits.  One of our new design team members Leslie, created a variety of knock-off papers from the kit.  She is a pro at creating true-to-life, honest-to-goodness replicas of the real deal.  Here's just a teaser of one of her creations:

Simple Stories Urban Traveler
Leslie's version!  Wow, I'm impressed!

Check out her reveal post here where she shows you this and many other counterfeits that will amaze you!

The other Lesley (another awesome newbie to CKC) has created a tutorial over on her blog to create Bingo Cards using Microsoft Word

- why not pop over and try it out...

Check out Ashley's fresh take on those bright clothes pins.  I love that our new design team members are showing off their stuff!

Ashley says...Recreating the Pebbles Mini Clothes Pins from the inspiration kit is a breeze. All you need is Mini Clothes Pins and Fingernail polish. It does take a couple of coats for the colors to come through bright, but this way you can customize them according to your page!   Check out her blog here to learn more about how she recreated these Elle Studio labels.
I mean who couldn't use more of these in her stash!

So, what are you waiting for?  Go get busy and build MORE stash from your stash!  Be sure to link up your creations on our July Mr. Linky so we can ooooo and ahhhhhh and say, "WOW, it's so cool that you made THAT!"

Tutorial-Counterfeit Printables and Templates

Between this month's Inspiration Kit and our own Add-On "Boy" theme kits, we found LOTS of printable images to use.  Here's the Inspiration Kit from Work In Progress Kits.

Inspiration Paper by Pink Paisley
The Inspiration kit came with this great "alphabet card" paper...below are some links to a few printable alphabet flash cards.

The following receipts would make great journaling blocks.

Once again, the Bingo cards are a popular item...check these cards out.

Did you see the Orange Soda bottles in the main kit?  Check out these cute root beer printables and template.

One last perfect journaling block.

Vintage Ephemera and Printable Vintage Bingo Cards

In order to find some vintage images for some of the "ephemera" used in my Inspiration Add-On Kit, I took advantage of the Internet and my printer!!!  To do this yourself, try doing a "Google Image" search for vintage advertisements, vintage postcards, or vintage ephemera.  You will get 1000's of results... simply right click on the image you like, save the picture to your computer, re-size it (if necessary) and print it onto cardstock!

The EXACT bingo cards I printed (on white cardstock) are taken from a Flickr album created by Joy (autumnsensation).  She has generously shared a variety of vintage photos.  You can download the image by clicking on the link below...

You might want to check out her whole "vintage image" free album...it's pretty cool!!!

One of our fellow "Counterfeiters" has also designed a set of free printable Bingo cards with the months of the year on them.  You can visit her blog and download them from this link http://makelemonadelife.blogspot.com/2011/01/counterfeit-kit-challenge.html  Thank you, Erin!!!

Have fun searching for some great images!
