CREATED BY COURTNEY TUESDAY CHALLENGE - MY UGLY CARD

HELLO! I created a card for today, but I had THREE people say it was ugly. I tried to think outside of the box and go with different colors...but it had 3 vetoes...so I decided to skip posting it and spare you from seeing an ugly creation. Then after a few of you WANTED to see it, I am sharing it...now remember - I tried to spare you! LOL

I was playing with the Technique Lovers Challenge from yesterday (on Splitcoast Stampers). Instead of following the directions, I tried something different by using the Nestabilities as my frame, however, it didnt work out quite like I planned...

Courtney challenged us to make a masculine Valentine's Day Card. SO I thought these colors would be masculine, and they are...but this is just icky! LOL I like the lay out and had I used different colors, I think I would really like this card.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Created by Courtney Design Team's projects!

Come back tomorrow for the Belli Challenge! Have a great day!

COURTNEY'S TUESDAY CHALLENGE #23

Hello! Have you ever made a card you weren't happy with? Well, I do LOTS of times and the one I made for this card was just OFF! So I took it apart and "FIXED" it. I liked both of the peices as individuals, but the way I colored the focal point and then add these STRONG colors...well, it clashed.
Add to that, the sad news a friend of mine was killed in a car crash yesterday, was quite shocking and I wasn't up to fixing it last night. I was thinking about the Brevity of life and how we just never know when it is going to be our time. Please keep her family in your prayers. The family members remaining are Dave (husband), Paul (college son), Michael (high school). I am praying that the testimony of God's Love in her life will draw them closer to God - may each of them hide under the shelter of the Most High and find rest, comfort and peace.
Give your family members extra hugs today!!! I gave my teen daughter one and she just gave me an odd look. Oh well. When she is "old" like me (not that I am old mind you, but to her I am), she will value those things much more, right? lol
Today's Challenge is a Color Challenge as you can see listed below. Add to that, the Technique Lovers Challende from Splitcoast... Designing with Paper Pleats (the chocolate/white panel on the left) and that is my card...
Here are the details on this card...
Stamp Set: A True Friend by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip DP, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pink Passion, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Top Note Die, Prima Flowers, 5/16th neutral brads, Bold Bright Brads, Riding Hood Red Ribbon, Scor-pal, sponge
I am now off to see everyone's FABULOUS creations... Take a few minutes and spread some love around to them. They all LOVE to hear your comments and I do too!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!

TUESDAY TRUST & a POLITICAL NOTE & addition of JOB UPDATE

Today is Created By Courtney's Challenge day and it is a sketch. I was not feeling like stamping yesterday... so I do not have something to share yet. If I have time this morning I will make something this morning and share on my blog!
I did make this card on Sunday for the Featured Stampers Challenge on Splitcoast. Lorie Craig has a FABULOUS gallery - I chose THIS card to case and changed the colors, the shape Nestabilities and the stamps...
Stamps: Encouragement Scripture by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps
Paper: Basic Grey Eva, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Whisper White
Ink: Same
Accessories: Curved Rectangles Nestabilities, Pretties Kit, White Organdy

For those who are praying for us...we still wait. The lay offs started yesterday at noon. The company is laying off 170 people. Yesterday 40 people were let go. The remaining 130 will be affected today and Wednesday. I think the waiting is the worst. I have complete faith that GOD is in control - but the controlling portion of my soul WANTS to control this too! LOL I WANT to know now what my circumstances will be...does he have a job or doesn't he? You know?
James 1:2-6 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
I praise God that my circumstances do not change that HE is in control and knows all things...even what tomorrow holds...I am trying to not allow my circumstances toss my modd to and fro like someone with little faith. I am keeping my eyes on Jesus and grabbing a hold of the hem of his garment during the current unknown circumstances.
Now, enough about me! Let's get busy with the stamping stuff! LOL Be sure to check out the other Created By Courtney Challenge participants...
Inauguration 2009—a Moment of History and Healing for America
by Aimee Herd/Op-ed : Jan 20, 2009 : Breaking Christian News

"…this moment—unprecedented in our nation's history—goes far above personal views…"
All through last year's Presidential campaign—on both sides of the spectrum—feelings ran deep. And I daresay those passionate opinions have not abated much as President-elect Obama's Inauguration approaches.

But, as I watched Obama's speech this weekend, with the backdrop of the Lincoln Memorial, it struck me that this moment—unprecedented in our nation's history—goes so far above personal views…
For me, and hopefully for many, the event of Barack Obama's Presidential Inauguration transcends political party and leaning… it is about healing. And the days after it; about prayer.
I realize, being white, that I cannot fully grasp the extraordinarily historical moment—when Obama is sworn in as the first black President of the United States—as one of my black fellow-citizens will. Nor will I experience, to that extent, the incredible achievement they must feel in their hearts.

But its significance is not lost on me. Whether or not I voted for President-elect Obama is not the issue, because the attitude at which this country has finally arrived, in being willing to elect a black man to its highest office, has been far too long in coming. It makes me feel very grateful to my parents for raising me with a true respect for all people regardless of color, religion or nationality, which is just Biblical common sense!

And so I ask, both those who voted for Obama and those who didn't, can we—if just for a day—lay down the political debate? Can we look beyond the labels of Republican, Democrat or Independent? Can we be joyful that America, on its highest level, is at long last breaking through an ugly barrier of ignorance and hate, and much like the day those cold cement chunks of wall fell in Berlin; hands kept apart are now joining together?

I hope each one of us, regardless of political persuasion, will pray for the continued protection of this man who has not let the prejudices of some keep him from pressing on to fulfill this calling in which he believes. Let's pray for protection for him and for his family.
As Christians, we are called to pray for those in office—no matter who they are. So let us pray in the days ahead for God's direction for this new President, as he leads this country we so love.
Just thought I would share that - since there is so much more going on than just our current economic state...
PRAYER REQUEST UPDATE AND PRAISE!
Hello Friends, Just wanted to give you an update on our job circumstances. Adam's department went through the lay off procedure today and he was not one of them, although they let go of half of his department. I praise GOD that Adam still has a job but will continue to be praying for those who were laid off. I know Adam is emotionally spent. We appreciate you lifting us up during this time!
2 Samuel 22:3 NKJV The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence.
Be blessed and have a great day!

CBCC #21 - TAKE TWO - MY HUSBAND'S CHALLENGE

Hello Again...If you read my earlier post, you will know that my husband thought my FIRST attempt at this challenge was ugly. (Scroll down one post if you missed it) So I told him to grab me another cd... well he picked one of my favorite colors, so where is the CHALLENGE in that? The one color I use the LEAST is yellow - so my cd I picked was MUCH more of a challenge...but hey, who am I to NOT take this challenge...after all, he did drink a beer for me once when I wanted the Beer Cap for last week's CBC Challenge.
Here is the cd he picked out. I rarely listen to this...I figure with the children laughing, yelling or playing in the background I wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy it anyways so I really do not listen to music very often because it adds to the racket. And believe me, I do not need ANYMORE brain activity!!! LOL
And here is the card I made for HIS Challenge...
I used my personal design CHILD OF GOD available at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and punched a hole in his hands to loop the flower through it...it kind of makes him look like he is holding a flower, doesn't it? I tried to make him look like he was smelling it, but it covered up his face too much. The floral stamp set is Close as a Memory by SU.
Here are the rest of the details:
Stamp Set: Child of God by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Close as a Memory by SU
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Creamy Caramel, Cream Confetti, Basic Grey Wassail (I LOVE THAT DP!!!!)
Accessories: Primas, Dew Drops, 1 3/8 circle punch, 1 1/2 circle punch, Rounded Tab Punch, Dew Drops, Copics

So what do YOU think!? :) I came up with a BRILLIANT IDEA (well, I think so anyways)...my idea will be a Saturday Challenge...I have to figure out how often I want to do this...I was thinking of maybe having it be based on my husband coming into my office and grabbing something (me might be nice, but there isn't much challenge in that, is there? LOL) ok FOCUS...too much coffee, I am rambling...Anyways, he could grab something he THINKS I do not use often - and the challenge would be to use it...What do ya think of THAT idea? It will start THIS SATURDAY! Be on the look out!

Have a great day!

I had about 3 or 4 ideas for this challenge, but we didn't want to eat THAT MUCH Mayonaise to empty the container, so I made my husband have a beer, so I could have the bottle cap. :) When I said, "Can You drink a beer? I need the bottle cap?" He just looked at me and shook his head. The things he does for me, eh? LOL

Everything I used on this card is Stampin' Up! (except for the Copics), but Joy bought some, so there is no excuse for her not to use them!
Details of the card:
Stamp Set: For Father, Serendipity, Circle of Friendship SU
Cardstock: Ski Slope DP, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Old Olive
Ink: Chocolate Chip

CBCC #19 - SKETCHY SNOWFLAKES

This is me and my sweetie Grace. Out of all of my children, she is the one who is most like me. :) Adam was trying to get the camera centered for our family picture - so we "posed" for him. I thought I had my eyes crossed. I guess I don't do a very good job at crossing my eyes. LOL

This week's Tuesday Challenge from Courtney is a sketch challenge. I had a pile of chipboard snowflakes laying on my desk and this paper jumped into my hand as I bent over to look at my DP - so I HAD to use my Snowflake stamp set!

We are supposed to get snow today! I am so excited. I really LOVE snow! For me, there is nothing better than to be home and have a snow storm!!! I can be all snuggley, knowing that I get to just relax and enjoy the beauty of the weather. The past 2 snow "storms" we were supposed to have ended up being only rain - so I was a bit disappointed.

I used WHITE Craft Ink and Embossed White EP first, then sprinkled Hologram Highlights to make the big snowflake sparkly.

Here are a few more details:
Stamp Set: Snowflakes by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps
Cardstock: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Basic Black
Accessories: Build a Brads, Tim Holtz Ruler, Chipboard, White EP, Hologram Highlights EP, Cropodile

Be sure to check out the other Challenge Chick's projects. I always enjoy seeing their creations!

CHIPBOARD ORNAMENTS

Good morning! Today is Courtney's Challenge Day! This week's challenge is to make an ornament. I had little time and LOTS of character building, so I chose an easy project! LOL

I used Stampin' Up's Onboard Seasonal Chipboard and painted this with Making Memories Scrapbook Paint Red Wagon. Then added some Stardust Stickles around the edges. A little Dew Drop bling with some mini glue dots, ribbon and WAH-LAH!

Tomorrow is BELLI CHALLENGE and we are doing something different this week! Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see what we are doing!

Today, I will start the cooking process. I will make my Pumpkin Cranberry Bread -
3 cups all purpose Flour
1 T. plus 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 cups granulated sugar
1 (15 oz.) can Pure Pumpkin
4 large eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup orange juice or water
1 cup sweetened, dried, fresh or frozen cranberries

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour two 9 x 5 inch loaf pans. Combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Combine sugar, pumpkin, eggs, vegetable oil, and orange juice in large mixer bowl; beat until just blended. Add pumpkin mixture to flour mixture; stir until moistened. Fold in cranberries. Spoon batter into prepared loaf pans. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes 2 loaves.

Things I am thankful for today
1. My husband's job - we are unsure as to what the future holds - but GOD knows, so today I am thankful for his job!
2. A cozy bed and my pillow. I never sleep as good without my pillow.
3. Hot water in my shower. Every day, I step into my shower - I am thankful for hot water!

Some of these things may sound silly I know, but I am so thankful for each little thing!

“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thank you for stopping by! Be blessed today!

CBCC #13 - CHIPBOARD!

I want to say a very LOUD THANK YOU to our Veterans and their families for the sacrifice of their loved ones, while they have served and currently serve our Country!
Created By Courtney's Challenge is TODAY! This week's challenge was to use CHIPBOARD! I honestly have to say, I had no trouble at all with this one! :)
I made this scrapbook page of my Gracie. She is now 7 years old, so I am a little behind in my album. LOL I think the rubber stamping the past 5 years has slowed me down. I used to only scrapbook, but then I was rubberized. LOL

This scrapbook page uses so many different products, I can not even begin to list them all or where they are all from. Mainly because I do not know! LOL I know the chipboard came from Stampin' Up! and Making Memories. I used Chocolate Chip Craft Ink.
That is my man and I in the pictures - me with dark hair. I felt old with my hair like that. And I grew it out afterwards...
So what do ya think? Be sure and leave a comment! I love to hear what you think!
If you have time, check out the other challenge participants work:
Have a great day!

COMBO OF CHALLENGES AND THE PROMISED TUTORIAL!

Last month, I made a binder similar to this along with a tutorial and promised some PICTURES with the tutorial! Life has been ever so busy and this is the first chance I have had to get one prepared for you! You can see the original HERE.

I actually combined TWO challenges. The Sisterhood of Blogging Sisters has a Sunday challenge each week. This week's challenge was to make anything but a card!

Then...Courtney has a Tuesday Challenge each week and I looked this morning and her challenge this week is...Can you guess? Yes, you guessed it! Anything but a card!

Woohoo! So I was able to do BOTH challenges. LOL

Oh yes...do you recall the request/ challenge Korin gave out this weekend? The one that says STAMPERS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

I made this Scripture book to send to the Judd family AND I will send THIS card to Janessa for the same challenge.

All of these Scriptures, except for one are Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. The Scripture on the front of the book is by Stampabilities (I think)

I used the Spring Showers that is retired Designer Paper from SU. I also recieved a Cuddle bug die cut (not sure the name) and made the scrolly border.

Here are a few more details:

Stamp Sets: Jesus Cares, Encouragement,

Bloggers Challenge #64 - DSP

Hello Everyone, this project is pretty simple! I have had a week of Character Building Opportunities and have fought an intense battle! So today, I feel weary - physically and emotionally exhausted and I am needing some restoration time with my family.

I made this box for my special friend Roseanne and I am filling it with a bunch of stamping goodies! I was supposed to go over there this evening, but with my Family Adventures I am having to stay home BUT will still be making this delivery for her. :) I hope she likes it.

This project is a combination of challenges -

On Tuesdays, my friend Courtney hosts Challenges and I am late in participating...because of our adventures. This weeks challenge was to make or alter a box. I originally was going to do the pencil box along with a tutorial, but life got the better of me, so I decided to just alter this one. :) This is one of the Gable Boxes I ordered from U-line. Check out all of the great ideas Courtney's Design team made! They are all fabulous!

The Bloggers Challenge is to use your Designer Specialty Papers. Be sure to check out everyone's wonderful projects. You can click on the right side bar BLOGGERS CHALLENGE to see the participants designs with Designer Paper.

Here are the details of my project:
Stamp Set: All Holidays
Ink and Designer Paper: Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip - Hawaii Papaya DP by SU
Accessories: Word Window Punch, Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, Flower Fusion and Flower Fusion Too, Glue Dots, Old Olive Grosgrain, Stitched Chocolate Ribbon
