The Vet said poisons like this can affect the liver and it can take days/weeks to be filtered out. When this happens Tyler can become ill and have symptoms again. One day fine, the next sick. We are confident he will be fine because he is a strong healthy young man (nearly four years old) and he is wondering what the heck all the fuss is about.
Our two sisters who live at Tyler's house wished they could have valium too! Nah, not really, well maybe just a little, hehe.
We will let you know more but we say THANK YOU cause we were pretty scared and it helped A LOT to know Blogville had his back.
The moral of this story is, keep your compost covered if you can, away from the dogs. The Vet says compost is full of toxins and fungus and is a big no no for doggies. Tyler, being a labrador, loves his food and in the few minutes before our sissy grabbed him from the neighbours, he must have had a good old feed. Also the symptoms didn't appear until abour four hours after he had been there.
Our cousin Tyler, he's an individual!
Once again, thanks mates. No worries (especially for Tyler) and LOVE (for all of you), Stella and Rory
Good news, we hope. Didn't know that about compost piles. Not that we have one. We'll still keep our paws crossed.

NO WORRIES
Glad Tyler is improving. Hope it continues!
ReplyDeleteHey Stella Down Under,
ReplyDeleteScary business with your pal Tyler. We hope he gets over it completely and is his own self again soon!
Cheers,
Stella, Up Over.
We are glad to hear that Tyler is doing OK. Sounds like it will be long road to full recovery. One time many years ago one of Mom's cockapoos got into some rat poisoning that the former homeowners had hidden in the garage. Mom and Dad didn't know it was there, but Shamrock found it. She was one very sick little girl for over a year. The vet said she wasn't likely to survive but she did. We will cross our paws for Tyler to do very well too.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning

OH we are so glad he is doing much better, we read about him yesterday but couldn't post until today. Our friends dog ate grapes off the vine about a month ago and got really deadly sick also, he had to go stay at the vets for a few days and they said he is lucky he lived. POTP works miracles.

ReplyDeleteWow, so you've really had it wet and cold during Aug huh? We could have done with a little more cold our way in the tropics and August is usually our driest time of year, hence why I thought it a good time to head to the Tablelands! Then yesterday it rained cats and dogs and had me caged up in my cabin for the whole afternoon!! but this morning the sun is out and so am I very shortly!

Very scary. I'm so glad that Tyler is improving. Poisoning is very tough on the system (one of ours got mushroom poisoning a few years ago). I'm glad he's so strong and has great vet care.
ReplyDeleteStella and Rory we are so sorry about Tyler. Bless his sweet Lab heart. We are late to send wishes but purrs and hugs. We had no idea compost piles were poisonous.
ReplyDeleteMom got a chuckle out of Penny the Mighty Kitty taking on 187 lbs of pure handsome Dane!!!
