I've been tagged

by two fabulously creative, inspiring ladies...Nikki and Liz
The "rules" of the game:
Answer the 5 questions listed below about yourself.
At the end of the post, tag 5-6 people by posting their names, then go to their blogs and leave them a comment letting them know they’ve been tagged and also ask them to read your blog for the rules.
Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answers.

Question 1: Ten years ago:
We had just moved away from all our family and friends in Arizona to the beautiful state of Oregon. Hunter was a baby and I was doing my best to help everyone, including myself, adjust to the move. Turned out it was a really good move for us and I met one of my best friends ever there, who was responsible for introducing me to the world of stamping. Love ya Sue!

Question 2: Five things in today's 'to do list':
1. Take Bryanna to the bank.
2. Grout the tiles I replaced in the bathtub.
3. Make my card for Tamara's sketch (should have been done already).
4. Go visit mom in the hospital.
5. Pay some bills.

Question 3: Snacks I enjoy:
Chocolate, Chips and Salsa (my homemade salsa), fresh fruit.

Question 4: Things I would do if I was a millionaire:
Pay for my kids college education, bring my mom home and hire someone to help take care of her, buy a cabin by a lake, donate to American Cancer Society.

Question 5: Places I have lived:
1. Dexter, Missouri
2. Phoenix, Arizona
3. Wiesbaden, Germany
4. Irrigon, Oregon
5. Yuma, Arizona
6. Colorado Springs, Colorado
7. West Richland, Washington
8. Dallas, Texas
9. San Jaun Batista, California
10. Killeen, Texas

I think that's pretty much it! As you can see from the list, I've lived in a lot of different places, but that's pretty normal if you've been a military wife.

Although I am inspired by you all the rules say I have to pick five, so here are 5 fabulously creative inspiring ladies.

Tammy (she's super duper sweet and is one of my first blogging buddies and she's wickedly talented to boot)

Bonnie (she's one of my sbs2 sistahs and I love her sense of humor as well as her talent)

Jessie (my Arlington stamping buddy who is super fun and super talented and has nerves of steel, lol)

Mel (another one of my sbs2 sistahs who is super talented and has the best tutorials).

Carol (another one of my sbs2 sistahs and a dt member. She's super talented, always has the nicest comments and let's me enable her as much as she enables me, lol.)

Sketch # 48 and other stuff

Happy Thursday to you all! It's time for another sketch card for Sketches {by tamara}. As usual, she hit another home run with this one. I love what the other ladies on the team have done with it and I sure hope you get the chance to check out their fabulous work.

We would love for you to do the challenge with us and if you do, please add a link to Tamara's blog so we can check it out!

Here is my card for this week's sketch.

Recipe
Stamps: Butterfly (Rhonna Farrer), Sentiment(Stampin Up). Paper: Cranberry Crisp, Kraft, DP (the paper studio). Ink: Cranberry, Black Stazon. Accessories: Felt Flowers, Buttons, Cuttlebug & Swirls Folder,Piercing Tool, Circle Punch, Square Punch, Sponge Dauber, Metallic Markers (Sharpie).

I had all of the supplies for this card already sitting on my desk so I just went with it. The butterflies were colored using metallic sharpie markers.

I'm sorry that I've been away for the last couple of days. Tuesday was my oldest daughters graduation. They had so many kids (1261) in their graduating class that they had to have the ceremony at Reunion Arena in Dallas. Here are a couple pictures of the group.

Isn't that an amazingly large Senior class? They had four different processional lines and entered from four different areas. It was a good thing, she told us where she would be coming in at or we would have missed her entrance. The cool thing was that we got to see a close up of her as she walked across the stage to recieve her diploma. Notice the jumbotron in the picture. I only teared up at the end when the kids all linked arms and sang their alma mater. All in all, I was really pleased with the whole thing and now I have a graduate in the house. One down, two more to go! Here is my beautiful daughter's Senior picture! I'll be getting her graduation pictures in about three weeks. We are so very proud of her!!!!
That's all I have for now! I've gotta get busy and make some Father's Day cards since it's just a couple days away! Hope you all have a great day! Thanks for stopping in! TTFN

Happy Birthday Bree

Good morning my blogging friends! Today is my youngest daughter's birthday and I thought it would be fun to share a couple of pictures of her. The first one was taken the day she was born, fifteen years ago today. I remember looking at her and thinking how beautiful she was. She had rosy red lips and big beautiful blue eyes!

Time hasn't changed that about her. The thing it has changed is how stinkin tall she is! When I took her for her first prenatal visit, the nurse took one look at her long torso and short little legs and pronounced she would probably be short when she grew up. Boy was she ever wrong. She is now 5'10". We affectionately call her our "Amazon". She is a really great daughter and super fun to be with! We love you Bree!

In honor of her birthday I made this card. I was inspired by the wonderful Maren or mmbc as she is known on SCS. She was their featured stamper yesterday and if you check out her gallery, it's easy to see why. I chose this card of hers to CASE and here is my version. There is absolutely no stamping on this card.

Recipe
Papers: Soft Blue Textured, Chocolate, White, DP. Accessories: Marker, Circle and Scallop punches, Ribbon, Cricut & George Cartridge, Xyron, Dazzling Diamonds, Heating Tool,Dimentionals.

I cut the numbers out with my cricut and then ran them through the Xyron and glittered the front of them. I heat set the glitter using my heating tool. I then put them on dimentionals to pop them up. This was a super quick card!

Thanks for letting me go on about my baby girls birthday!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! TTFN

Mojolicious layout

Welcome to Monday and a new week! Let me start out this post with an update on my mom. Her Oncologist suspects that her Myeloma is rearing it's ugly head again. While she looks wonderful and seems to be in good health, her blood tests and some recent pain in her leg seem to suggest otherwise. He has ordered a Pet Scan as a visual confirmation. She has to go in early Thursday morning and we will get the results the following Thursday. If his suspicions are correct, it means another round of Chemo drugs. Please keep her in your prayers. The drug he is suggesting is one that she's taken before and had a stroke while taking.

With such wonderful news * sarcasm*, I needed some stamping therapy BAD. I can show you the one I did for Julee's Mojo Monday, but the other one will have to wait til Thursday. It's for my design team work. So without further ado, I give you another cute card with my *new* Watermelon Bee stamp from Stampendous.

Recipe- Stamps: Watermelon Bee (Stampendous) Celebrate and dots (Studio G). Paper: Green Galore, DP (unknown), white (GP). Inks: Black Pigment, Real Red, Black Stazon. Accessories: Piercing tool, White gel pen, Brads, Ribbon, Markers, Stickles, Sponge dauber, Cricut & George cartridge, Deckle scissors, Black EP, Dimentionals.

Well it's late and I have to get an early start in the morning. I have an order for 48 cards to crank out tomorrow. At least they are all the same design and simple. Should be a piece of cake *grin*.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! TTFN

Sketches By Tamara......I made it.....

Hey all! I have some exciting news to share with you today. Notice the little icon on my sidebar? I made Tamara's design team! I'm doing the happy dance here!

A couple of weeks ago she put out a call for designers so I thought I would give it a try! I opened my email this morning and there was an email from Tamara, congratulating me for making the team. There was also an email from my dear friend Tammy Hershberger, congratulating me. She made the team too! This is gonna be so much fun! I love Tamara's layouts and there's some awesomely talented ladies on the team. I'll be adding a list of them on my sidebar as soon as I get back from my study, but I just wanted to quick, share this with you all!

Oh, and a word of encouragement here. Never stop trying! This is not the first design team that I have applied for. There have been a few others that I just didn't make the cut, but I kept trying. If I can do it, so can you!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! TTFN

I am so excited!!!!!

About a month or so ago, I signed up on the wait list for the Arlington SCS get together and kept my fingers crossed that I would make it to the actual list. Guess what? I made it!!!!! Whoo hoo! This is going to be so much fun! Forty-five wonderful stampers all gathered together in one room for the whole day and you should see who is on the list!!!! Let's just say, I am going to be hanging with some really terrific stampers. It's gonna be the best!

Enough of that, now onto the card that I made today. This is another card for my moms nurse.

Recipe:Stamps-Birthday Wishes (Inkadinkadoo) Flowers (Studio G). Papers-Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black (Stampin Up) Wild Asparagus big block (My Minds Eye). Inks-Black Pigment Ink (SU) Accessories-Giga Scallop Punch, Markers, Aqua Painter, Ribbon. Stickles, Cuttlebug and Paisley EF, Black EP

She was very pleased with both of the cards that I made for her.

I have to get working on the card design for the swap. I have no idea what I am gonna do, but it will be fun deciding.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for the tiggerific treats I promised. You won't be dissapointed! TTFN

It's a Bee-u-tiful day!

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend. My brother and his family came to visit this weekend and with 7 kids, and five adults in the house, there was little time for stamping. We had the most beautiful weather so on Saturday we took a trip to the zoo complete with a train ride. I thought they would enjoy riding the Dart. Here we all are minus me and my oldest daughter. She had to work and I am the one behind the camera.

Both of those good looking guys in the green shirts belong to me and so does that tall, beautiful, dark haired girl in the back. That's my dad in the back row on the left and the rest of the group is my brother and his family. For those of you who have been blogging with me for a while, that little guy in the stroller is my nephew Bransyn, the miracle baby, who was born prematurely last November. We had a great time and got some wonderful pictures that I can't wait to scrapbook.

I did get the chance to stamp on Sunday after our family headed back home. I made this card for one of my mom's nurses. She asked me to make a card for her daughter's birthday.

I got these adorable bees in a swap from AnnMarie, one of my SBS2 sisters. They are from Stampendous and I am thinking I'm gonna have to buy them for myself. I colored them with my Stampin Up markers. The sentiment is from Lexicon of Love and was stamped twice so that I could cut out the word celebrate and pop it up on dimentionals. That wonderfully colorful DP is from Daisy Ds and the card stock is tempting turquoise and gable green from SU. Add ribbon, flowers, stickles and jewels and there you have it. I think she's gonna really like it.

That's all I have for now! I hope you enjoyed the card and the picture of my family. I'll be back tomorrow with another card for you. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by. TTFN

Tag, I'm it........

I have been tagged by my new blogging friend, Nikki, over at Creations By Nikki. She is the sweetest person and leaves such wonderful comments and she's also very talented. She does amazing things with her cricut. Just check out her blog and you'll see what I mean. Sorry it took me so long to post this Nikki, but here goes.

This is what you do:
1. Link to the person that tagged you and leave a comment on their blog, so that their readers can visit yours.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share 7 Random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 random people at the bottom of your post, linking to their blog. Let each person know by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I would love to take a cruise with dear hubby, but am deathly afraid of being on the open waters. He did talk me into a fishing trip off the Oregon Coast oncebut I had to have land in sight.
2. I had six brothers and two sisters. My oldest brother died from complications of diabetes seven years ago.
3. I grew up in a small farm town in Arizona.
4. My dad was a cotton farmer and I loved to do flips off the edge of the cotton trailers into the cotton.
5. When I was six years old, I rode my horse right into the clothesline and got a nasty rope burn across my throat. I'm lucky it was not a wire clothesline!
6. I would love to get over my fear of speaking in public and do stand up comedy. I love to make people laugh.
7. In just a little over a month, dear hubby and I will celebrate our 28th anniversary.

Now I am supposed to tag 7 people, but I'm pretty sure most of you have already been tagged so if you read this and haven't been tagged, consider yourself tagged and feel free to share 7 random facts about yourself. Be sure to add a comment back here on my site with a link to yours so I can check it out. Thanks and have a great day! Thanks for stopping by. TTFN

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it......

I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! I am published!!!!! I submitted some cards to Take Ten magazine a while back using the Cuttlebugged Acetate technique and they were accepted for their spring publication. I've known that since December, but was waiting for the the release to announce it (not an easy thing for me to do, I'll tell you). What I didn't know was that I had made the cover ! I just got an email from my stamping friend Jen congratulating me for making the cover and I was like "what, you're kidding me?", so I googled it and lo and behold there are two of them right there on the cover. How cool is that? Somebody please pinch me!!!! It's gonna be a while before my feet touch the floor again! LOL

One cool dude

Look what I got in the mail yesterday!!!! I'm so excited!!!! I have been patiently waiting for for this little guy and his companion to arrive for the last week. Did I say patiently? Well maybe not patiently. The mailman suspects that I have been stalking him. He would be right!!!

This cute little penguin is new from Imaganisce. Isn't he cute? That's not all! There's a little hula girl penguin and sentiments too! They are each sold seperately and they're only $1.00. Now, how can you beat that price? I got mine from the nice ladies at Martha and Mary. They sell out quick, but they will notify you by email when they are available again if you sign up for email notification.

I have been wanting to do Nicola's layout challenge since she posted it on the weekend, but I knew that I wanted to use this stamp, so I held off til he came. You should go check out her blog and challenges. She's super talented and always has terrific layouts!

This is a super simple tent card. The image and sentiment were stamped with black pigment and then heat embossed with black EP. I colored his shorts with markers (SU). The DP is some paper that came in a package of glitter, brads and gems from Marcella K. I just loved the color and pattern so I saved it.

Bree and I are still hanging out together watching Newsies. She looks like she's feeling a little better today and she asked me to make her french toast this morning, so she is getting her appetite back. Hopefully her temp will go down and stay down and she won't have to miss another day of school tomorrow. Time will tell! Thanks to all my blogging buddies for sending happy thoughts our way! I have some awesome imaginary friends (that's what DH calls them).

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Shore Thing
Paper: Barely Banana, Basic Black

Beats's weekend sketch challenge

It's been a long time since I've done one of Beate's weekend sketch challenges! Today, I made up my mind that I was going to get one done and so I did.
I went with my Flowers set(Rhonna Farrer) and stamped the image on white CS with black pigment ink and then heat embossed with black EP. I watercolored the image with my aquapainter and markers. I used my hobby knife to cut around the flower so that it laid over the ribbon. The DP is from My Minds Eye. I went over the image with ice stickles! Man is this baby sparkly! The stickles sure made the image pop! The card stock is River Rock, Wild Wasabi and Chocolate Chip (SU)! I need a little more practice with my watercoloring to get it where I want it, but I'm improving.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

An RAK for a friend

I found out a couple of days ago that my blogging sistah, Lori's mom is in the hospital. I decided to send her a card. When my mom was in the hospital, it meant alot to her to recieve cards from my friends at SCS. It really perked up her spirits. She still proudy displays each and every one of them in her room at the nursing home.
This is the card that I made to send her. It was inspired by a beautiful card that I recieved in a swap from cbcardcreations (SCS). I added a few details to give it my own touch, but the color and content are the same.

This is one of my favorite SU sets, Natural Beauty. The main image is heat embossed and then watercolored using Mustard, Navy and Olive and then stickled (is that really a word?). I added some sponging, ribbon and primas and the sentiment (Sincere Salutations). I really love the bold colors.

I gotta sign off now. I'm off to the nail parlor with my DD. She has an awards banquet to go to tonight and needs to get her girl on.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day, hopefully filled with stamping!

Stamps: Natural Beauty, SincereSalutations

Paper: Mustard, Black, White, Apricot

Inks: Black Pigment, Mustard, Navy, Olive

Accessories: Black Ep, Ribbon, Brads, Slot Punch, Piercer, Sponge, Watercolor Brush

Tina Fey

I'll explain the title later but for now I wanted to share my fantastic gift I recieved today. I have this wonderful blogging friend that I am just getting to know, well sort of. She is one of my SBS2 sistahs, but her identity is a secret. She is my secret sister. I have no idea who she is, but apparently she knows a little bit about me. I got a package from her today and it had this lovely card in it.

Notice the ribbon! It has chickens on it! How did she know that I love roosters and chickens? Maybe it's just a coincidence or maybe not, but I sure do love it. Look what else was in the package! Boy do I feel spoiled!!!!
There's a mini album, sticky ribbon ( I'm gonna have fun with that, this is the first time I've seen sticky ribbon), some 4x6 papers, hand made tags, flower tags, and ribbon and this yummy turquoise cording. I was so excited, I sat down at my desk and started playing with the cording. This is what I came up with.
I used Soft Sky and White cause I loved the crisp look that it gave. The Flower(Ronna Farrer) was embossed and then colored in using Pearl Ex mixed with glue (I didn't have any lumiere). The strip across the bottom was embossed with my Cuttlebug and my new Circle EF's. I used my bone folder to make the score lines across the top and bottom and then cut along the edges with my scallop scissors. The jewels are Marcella K from Target. They came it this cool set that had glitter, brads and rhinestones. I followed Lauren's instructions to make the glittered Prima. I like the way this turned out and it only took 10 minutes to throw together. Thank you secret sister, whoever you are, for giving me the inspiration. I'm gonna have tons of fun playing with all the other wonderful things you sent.
Now, to explain the title. I was editing the picture of this card today and asked my 18 year old daughter what name I should give the file. She's got a quirky sense of humor, like her mom, and just blurted out "Tina Fey"! I said "are you kidding?" She said "no." I asked her why and she just said that she likes Tina Fey and she likes the card, and that I should just name it Tina Fey. So there you have it. The file name for this card is now Tina Fey. Isn't she funny?

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I am having internet problems. It seems my router may be the culprit. I have another one on the way and as soon as I am up and running again, I will be posting. I have been busy stamping since I can't blurf and there is only so much house cleaning a girl can do! I am posting this today from the computer at the library. Thank God for libraries!!!!
Have a great day and TTFN!

You make my day

Will you look at this! Flossie and Tina both sent me this wonderful award! They actually sent it to me last week, I have just been a little slow in posting it! They are both wonderful ladies and the truth is that they Make My Day. They both have wonderful blogs, filled with lovely cards and tidbits and they always have such nice things to say. I've been tagged

I was tagged yesterday by my fellow SBS2 sister, Lori. Now I get to post 7 random facts about myself and then tag 7 others. So here goes.

1. I am one of nine children. My mom and dad had six and then adopted three of their grandchildren. All are grown now. I am the oldest girl.

2. I am a serious home body and hate to shop unless it is stamp related. Don't believe me, ask my girls. They both love to shop! Thank goodness my oldest can drive now!

3. When I was a kid I was covered with dark freckles. I still have them on my arms and sometimes get them on my face, but nothing like when I was a kid. When I went to my ten year HS reunion, no one knew who I was and they thought my husband was the alumni.

4. I was on the Flag line in High School and had to wear a uniform very much like the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Thank goodness I had good legs. Man do I miss them!!!!!

5. I met my husband when I was fifteen and have been married to him for 27 years. He is my best friend!

6. The very first time I flew on a plane, I was 19 and headed to Germany to be with my husband who had been there for three months. It was December 24th and I was so excited to be reunited for Christmas!

7. I have been to Disneyland five times and tigger is my favorite Disney character. As if you didn't know that already.

Now, who am I gonna tag? Hmmmm! I am going to tag some of my SBS2 sisters so I can get to know them. I'm just strting randomly in the middle and going down.

Same layout, two different cards

How's everyone doing today! So far today has been a good day except for one little mishap. I was helping hubby put his portable hunting blind away and it got away from me and snapped up and hit me right across the bridge of the nose. OUCH! It hurt like the dickens and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a couple of black eyes from it. They should put a warning on those things. Good thing my hobby isn't dangerous. I can't imagine anything like that happening with my stamps and other stamping tools!
Speaking of stamping tools, I have been playing around with my Cricut some more. Man I love that machine. It's definitely a justifiable expense. If I added up what it would cost for all the die cuts that it makes it would be hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Both of the cards here were made using the same layout and the Cricut.
On this one the large DP with the ribbon slots was made using my George Cartridge that came with the machine and baby letters were made using my Mini Monograms. I also used my Giga and large square scallop punches, corner punch, paper piercer, cuttlebug and flower EF, pearl stick-on gems and ribbon. The stamped sentiment is from one of those clear $1 stamp sets from Michael's. The papers are Pretty In Pink (SU) and DP (the paper studio).

On this one, the flower was made using my George cartridge and changing the size each time. I stamped the Cranberry Crisp (SU) flowers with By Design (SU), sponged all the flower edges and then embossed them with clear EP. The other items used to make this card were my corner punch (scallops), ribbon, Greetings Galore (SU) and a brad. The paper is Soft Sky (SU) and Figgy Pudding DP (Basic Grey). The inks used were Cranberry Crisp and Versamark.

That's all I'm gonna post for now. I do have two more cards ,but there is a line forming for the computer. The kids are out of school and hubby is home and I have to share.

Hope you all have a great day! Be back later!

Smile.......

I know I am! I had a terrific Christmas and was spoiled rotten by my family. I got a Cricut and a gift certificate to HL and Michael's (which I quickly put to use as soon as the stores opened yesterday). And as if that wasn't enough. DH surprised me with a beautiful diamond ring. I was completely caught off guard and there were plenty of hugs and tears. I sure do feel loved!!!!
I finally got time today to play with my Cricut! I have to tell you, I love this thing. Here is a card that I made earlier today!

All of the shapes were cut using my Cricut and the Mini Monograms cartridge. Add ribbon, Primas and jewel dots and some cuttlebugging and there you have it. A super quick and simple card!

What did you get for Christmas?

Have a great day!
