Go Cardinals!!!

I do love the St. Louis Cardinals!    http://www.pjstar.com/free/x1155177398/Depleted-Dodgers-to-face-Cards-ace  Here’s hoping they go all of the way!!

****************************************************

A chilly morning as the temp dipped into the upper 30s.  There was patchy frost on the ground between my back door and the cemetery.  Just a harbinger of things to come.  I am really not ready for that.

I have some errands to run which include the pharmacy.  I had planned to go to the post office to mail a package but it is closed today.  It’s funny but I don’t remember having Columbus Day  off when I worked in Civil Service.  Maybe I did and I don’t remember it.  Smile

Have a good week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Finally the rain…

has stopped for a little while.  We needed this rain so much last summer and now it is like a leaky faucet that won’t quit dripping.  Yesterday was thunderstorms off and on all day.  The Cardinal game was delayed because of rain in the bottom of the 7th.

http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/sports/2012/10/18/nlcs-st-louis-cardinals-rain-on-san-francisco-giants-parade/

After a 3 & 1/2 hour delay the Cards came back to beat the Giants.  What started out as an afternoon game didn’t finish until almost 10PM CDT.

Rain delay

The next game is tonight and we have rain predicted for later on today.  We are really whittling down the rain deficit that we have had all year.  I think it is right around 7 inches below normal right now.

I am not sure what I am going to do today.  I need to get out a little bit for some fresh air before it starts raining again.  It is 42 degrees and sunny right now.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my post yesterday.  It brought back a lot of memories for me.

Have a  peaceful day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

YAY!! Cardinals won!!!

on to game 2!!

The weekend was pretty stormy with rain all day Saturday and off and on again yesterday.  I went out between rain showers yesterday to take a couple of pictures of what is happening to the trees by the cemetery.

004

This is ‘the tree’ that I have been taking a picture of on the 4th day of each month so far this year.  You can see if you click on the photo that the tree must have been very pretty in years gone by.

002

This is just a general view of the cemetery from my back door.  It was too wet for me to walk on over through the grass for better pics.  This was taken from my back door.  And then the rain started again and the temps fell 20 degrees.

And then I settled down to watch the Cardinal game.  It was very exciting!!  And they won 6 – 4.  It was a bit nerve wracking when the Giants tried to make a comeback, and now on to game 2.

It is a new week and I am all set to make the most of it. The sun is trying to shine.  I hope you all have a wonderful week.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Walk-Off Home run

“In baseball, a walk-off home run is a home run that ends the game. It must be a home run that gives the home team the lead (and consequently, the win) in the bottom of the final inning of the game—either the ninth inning, or any extra inning, or any other regularly scheduled final inning. It is called a "walk-off" home run because both teams walk off the field immediately afterward, rather than finishing the inning.”   ~Wikpedia'~

"ST. LOUIS -- Twice down to their last strike, the St. Louis Cardinals kept rallying to win one of baseball's greatest thrillers.

David Freese completed a startling night of comebacks with a home run leading off the bottom of the 11th inning to beat Texas 10-9 on Thursday night, and suddenly fans all over got something they have waited forever to see: Game 7 in the World Series.”  ~Associated Press~

Whatever happens in tonight’s game, I am proud of my Cardinals, proud of being born in the great state of Missouri and proud to be a baseball fan.  Don’tcha love it?  Kudos to the Rangers too, may the luckiest team win (said with tongue in cheek), simply because the Cards have been living on luck since August!

That man Pujols…

This is going to be a gorgeous day, to be in the 70s.  I am restricted from strenuous exercise but I am going to take a short walk this afternoon, carrying my camera and hoping for an opportunity for a pic.  The rain, wind and cold has about taken the color away from the trees but there are a few remaining.  First thing this morning I do have to make a run to Kroger as I am out of one main item that I can’t live without, bananas.

Hey, what about the Cardinals win last night? I stayed up past 10:30 watching and I finally went to bed.  What a game.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/23/albert-pujols-cardinals-world-series-home-runs_n_1027077.html
