Hi Ho Hi Ho….

It’s off to the dentist I go.  I have one word for that and it is YUCK!  I really hate going to the dentist.  I hate the cleaning which actually only takes about 20 minutes.  It is just the thought of psyching myself up to go.  Since I had the radiation last year I have to see the dentist every 3 months, so double YUCK on that.

After all of the storms we had the last week or so today is beautiful!  Sunny and a high in the 70s.

canton storm

This photo was taken   by Cory Bitner of Monday  night's storm in Canton, IL  Canton is located about 20 miles from here.  I don’t want any more storms for awhile.  I do think it is an awesome picture though.

Have a great day, enjoy the sunny cool day, or if it is still hot and humid where you are the cool down is coming.  If you are one of my Australian friends I know you already have a cool down.

Stay safe and be happy!!

Dentist…

and bitter cold at 18 degrees right now and very windy.  I am just home from the dentist where I had the crown set on one side and a loose filling replaced on  the other side.  Total cost for the dentist this month, $1103.00.  Nothing but soup today.

Yesterday I was gone from 8:30 AM till almost 3PM  to two doctor appointments.  I was so tired  when I came home that I just flopped down and watched the Arias trial.  No computer at all.

I do not believe in the death penalty.  I think someone eligible for the death penalty would suffer more if given life sentence with no chance of parole.  And I  do think Jodie Arias should be convicted and thus sentenced.  The one good thing that our disgraced former governor George Ryan did for the state of Illinois was to abolish the death penalty.  http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/illinois-16th-state-abolish-death-penalty/story?id=13095912

This will be another day of rest, in fact I think it will take me a week to get caught up.  lol

Have a peaceful day.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Bad Day at Black Rock…

Yesterday was a nightmare type day.  Sunday morning while leisurely eating my breakfast of cereal, banana and milk I lost a part of the tooth that I was scheduled to have a crown put on next month.  I hate it when something like that happens on the weekend.  I called and the dentist took me in and I had the first step of the crown done yesterday morning.  Two hours of drilling and fitting, etc.  I was a few minutes late to my hair appointment at 11 AM.  Then I had to reschedule my doctor appointment in Peoria for this morning.  The weather for today is  5 – 7 inches of sleet rain and snow.

BUT!!! the icing on the cake yesterday was when I was locked out of Google for 24 hours because of unusual activity on my account.  Very frustrating!  I had this thought that I would leave this blog alone and just post on my Wordpress blogs.  I have never been locked out of there.  Wordpress does put these annoying video commercials at the end of your post.

Anyway I am back for now and I will be around sometime today to visit you all.

Stay safe and be happy!!

P. S. Do any of you remember the movie Bad Day at Black Rock?  That was the last movie I saw with a date at a drive in movie before I met Jim.  And life goes on.

Wednesday Rant…

I am so sick of robocalls.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robocall  They are never ending and the Do Not Call List doesn’t phase them.  You can’t get rid of them.  I always check the caller ID and if I don’t recognize the number I don’t answer the call.  Once in  awhile though I will pick up the phone without thinking.  Do I have diabetes, my car warranty has expired, second notice, we can lower your credit card rates, etc. and the list goes on and on.  I am rushing in from the store this morning and the phone is ringing and I am thinking this is probably the call I am waiting for to schedule a doctor appointment.  Head to the phone, big mistake.  And that is the end of my Wednesday rant.  Put the violin away.

It is sunny and cold today.  I have about got all of the ice off my car now and with a little bit of ingenuity I managed to get the garbage can lid pried open yesterday.

I have a dental appointment tomorrow afternoon.  I know I have said this 100 times or more but I hate going to the dentist.  I hate the way the technician or the dentist will ask you a question while your mouth is full or worse yet talk to each other as if you are not there.  Boy, I guess you can all tell that my mood is less than stellar this morning.  On that note I will close my post.

Stay safe and be happy!!

A little more rain…

yesterday which amounted to about .10 again.  It was raining and by the time I had put my raincoat on and been outdoors for a little while it stopped.  I knew I would scare it away by putting on my raincoat.  We do have more rain expected this afternoon and I am grateful as a little bit of rain is better than nothing.  And it might as well rain today as I have a dental appointment this morning and that takes care of anything else.

I was pretty wiped out yesterday so I didn’t do much.  Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.  I am still waiting for my doctor report.

And now, sharing another picture from the past.  I love this one.  That is my mother standing on the right and my Aunt Mable on the left.

aunt mable, mom

Take note of the old chair and the carpet.  I feel sure this was taken at a studio.

Might as well be happy you all, and while you are at it, try and stay safe too!!

Just call me…

sweetheart.  This was a new one for me.  When the receptionist called me from the dentist office yesterday to remind me of my appointment she ended the call with ‘thank you sweetheart.’  I wasn’t quick enough on the draw to say ‘you’re welcome sweetheart’ like Nancy suggested I do.

Actually yesterday during my stress test I finally decided that I like Dr. G. after all.  I realize that he has my best interest at heart and that is the most important thing.

I had to stop for a minute and get my clothes out of the dryer.

My daughter stopped by on her way to work this morning and cleaned the snow off my car.  No snow on the ground this morning, just on my car.  The next thing on my agenda is the trip to the dentist.  I will finish this post when I get back.

I am home from the dentist with my teeth cleaned and x-rays taken.  All is well with that part of my life.  Since the dentist’s office is directly across the street from Kroger of course you know I had to go to the store where I bought a couple of necessary things plus a cherry pie and ice cream which were totally unnecessary.  I am hoping my daughter will stop by for her lunch hour.  Cherry pie happens to be her favorite.  My favorite pie is lemon meringue or banana cream pie with meringue.  Recipes on my recipe space for all 3 pies.  Stop on by, I am fixing fish sandwiches to go with the pie and ice cream.  You are welcome too RB.

It is a bright sunshiny chilly day on this 41st day on the Countdown to Spring,

All for now.  I hope you are all having a great day.  It is important that you stay safe and be happy!!

Yes…

it is only 42 days left on the countdown to Spring.  I am killing time waiting for the time to leave for my appointment.  No breakfast this morning so I will be glad when this is done.

A worker from maintenance has been over here this morning, cleaning out the furnace and putting a new handle on the commode.  I would have said toilet but I didn’t want to offend anyone. LOL That is the best part of renting.  You don’t have to pay for maintenance.  And I will say this, the maintenance here are right on time and all very nice.   I  hope he finishes before I have to leave for my appointment.

It is another foggy, frosty day and the temp right now is 28 degrees.  I think we are supposed to get some rain or snow this afternoon and I hope I am home before then.

The maintenance worker just left which is good because it will take me awhile to get all of the frost off the car.  C’mon Spring.

You know what??  I am hungry for pizza and I just might figure out some way to have that today.  Tomorrow is the dentist and I hate that too.  I equate the dentist to a visitation.  Both equally painful.

I will finish this when I get home.

*********************************************************************************

I am home from the stress test.  I didn’t have to do the nuclear part of it this time.  Just the EKGs and walking the treadmill.  I had the doctor and two nurses in there with me and it all went well.  I got my pulse rate up to the proper rate and did very well with no AFIB.  Now I am home with a little personal pizza in the oven and I plan to eat the whole thing.

You all stay safe and be happy!!

It’s the next year already…

What do you say at the beginning of a new year?  Probably in my case I would just say “Thank you God for allowing me another day.”  That is it!  I try to live one day at a time the best way I know how.  Hopefully that involves showing kindness to my fellow man.  I do try to understand and sympathize thinking all the while that for the grace of God that might be me in some unfortunate situation.

It is a new year and I am filling my calendar with appointments.  Doctor, dentist, tests, etc.  Like I said before, one day at a time.

It is a beautiful bright sunshiny day today.  It is very windy though and the temps are to keep falling all through the day.  I can live with the wind.  Keep away the snow.

I did mention to a blogging friend in England that I would choose one subject to film at the same time each day in the month.  It is too windy out this morning to try and do that but before the month is over I will try to choose a day for this.

A New Year’s Prayer. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Anonymous

Dear Lord, please give me…
    A few friends who understand me and remain my friends;
    A work to do which has real value,
        without which the world would be the poorer;
    A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed;
    An understanding heart;
    A sense of humor;
    Time for quiet, silent meditation;
    A feeling of the presence of God;
    The patience to wait for the coming of these things,
    With the wisdom to recognize them when they come. Amen.

Time for an update…

I saw another doctor yesterday and had my meds changed again.  I am praying that they work as I am really getting worn out from this merry go round.  Monday I see an electrophysiologist. This is a new doctor for me as I had never heard of this field before.  I am praying a lot and just living one day at a time to see what happens.  Then that is my last doctor appointment until the 29th when I have 2 on the same day.  Then on Dec 1, dentist, Dec 2 doctor and Dec 16 my primary care physician then on Dec30 another appointment..  I hope Medicare doesn’t go broke before the end of the year.

Nothing much new happening here.  I have been invited to go with my daughter and son in law to  my SIL’s brother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner.  I am to take a pumpkin pie and whipped topping which will be an easy thing to do.  My daughter is taking hot rolls and macaroni and cheese.  Mike’s sister in law is a very good cook so I am really looking forward to that.

It is in the 40s here this morning and clammy outside as if it wants to rain.  I found that out when I went next door to do a load of laundry.

There is another Christmas Bazaar at one of the churches today.  I am trying to decide if I want to go or not.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Cold and Windy…

What a change in the weather.  In the 50s yesterday morning and in the upper 20s this morning.  I hate to go out in the cold but I will have to soon to get my car warmed up for my doctor appointment.

Yesterday was blustery and cold.  My anticipated family came from Wisconsin.  We had lunch and a nice visit.  Marcia came by after work.  My great, great niece is adorable. She is beautiful.  I am thinking the Christmas outfit will be too big but maybe next year.

12:30 PM.  I am home from the doctor.  I had an EKG and the result of that is I have to see another specialist about a procedure that I have never heard of.  I have 6 doctor appointments scheduled now before the end of the year, plus a dental appointment.  Each time I see a doctor I get something new tacked on.  If I wasn’t an intelligent woman I would be tempted to sit right down and bawl.  Since I am an intelligent person I realize that even though I don’t like it, I know that I need to do these things.  I am trying to keep my spirits up as the holiday season is approaching.  I was told again no working out until after I get through with all of this stuff.

After I saw the doctor I went by and picked up my daughter and we did a little shopping and had the soup and sandwich special at Avanti’s.

Now I am pooped again, so I will rest this afternoon.  You all stay safe and be happy!!

Not for another 6 months…

Whew, I am glad that is over, my 6 month cleaning and checkup at the dentist.  I really hate going to the dentist.  My mouth always hurts for a week afterwards.

You all know I love to people watch.  When Jim was in the hospital I helped to entertain myself and Jim by watching people and creating a scenario for them.

My appointment this morning was at 8 AM and the office was full already.  One couple (probably mid 80s came in and sat down.  Her name was Mary.  She had on tan slacks, a coral colored sweater and beige what I call old lady shoes and red dyed hair just a shade lighter than I Love Lucy.  As stated before, I hate going to the dentist.  I was sitting across from Mary and her husband.  He asked her if she had finished making the spinach balls last night.  She told him no, as her shoulder was hurting (having arthritis in my shoulders so bad I could relate to that.}  Then he asked if she stayed warm in bed last night.  She muttered something and he said what?  Then very loudly she said I already told you.  By now I was smiling and my mind wasn’t thinking about Melinda (hygienist's name) poking her hands in my mouth.

Speaking of Melinda, I had told her before that her name was very old.  My grandmother’s name was Nancy Melinda.  If I had been conscious after my daughter was born I would have named her Melinda instead of Marcia as I think Melinda is a beautiful name.  Jim actually named our daughter as I was pretty sick with toxemia after my daughter’s birth.  To this day I have always thought Marcia was named after one of Jim’s old girl friends.  LOL!!

And now back to the old couple.  They were so cute together and it made me miss Jim so much as he was so good to go to doctor visits with me.  One thing puzzles me though, what in the world are spinach balls??

After my appointment I went to Aldi’s and then out to the grand opening of a new bank in town to see if I wanted to put some of my vast fortune in their bank. HA!!!!  They are very nice!

I hope you all have a  good day.  Stay safe and be happy!!
