Pre-order Chronicle Collectibles 1990 RoboCop 2 movie menacing Cain cyborg 16-inch tall statue

Pre-order

“Cain! Let’s step outside!”

The 1990 film RoboCop 2 introduced the world to one of science-fiction film’s most menacing characters, the Cain cyborg. With a power-hungry psychopathic drug-lord as its human base and an unscrupulous business as its creator, Cain wreaks havoc on the innocent civilians of Detroit until taken down by RoboCop in a climactic final scene.

Co-created by legendary special-effects animator Phil Tippett, the charismatic Cain was brought to life in the film with a full-size robot prop and several intricately machined stop-motion puppets, all which have survived and live at Tippett Studio.

It’s from these screen-used stop-motion puppets that Chronicle Collectibles directly produced its licensed RoboCop 2 Cain model. Molded from original masters and one of the original filming puppets, Cain is assembled with a whopping 275 individual parts, with each part individually cast and cleaned for new masters by Tippett Studio. This may be one of the most complex figures ever reproduced for private collectors, and Chronicle Collectibles is proud to be part of its production.

Comparison pictures of Hot Toys 1/6th scale Diecast RoboCop and ThreeZero 2014 RoboCop

continued from previous toy blog post...

“Dead or alive, you’re coming with me.”

What's better than having two different 1:6 scale RoboCops, one from the original 1987 film and the other from the 2014 re-boot? Put them together for pictures of course! Pictured below and for the rest of this toy blog post are the two recently released and most current RoboCop 12-inch figures, the ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 12.5-inch / 32cm tall collectible figure and Hot Toys MMS202-D04 1/6th scale Die-cast RoboCop 30cm tall Collectible Figure. Hot Toys had previously produced and released at least three versions of RocoCop (MMS010 - action figure review posted HERE, MMS026 and MMS032 - pictures HERE) and two versions of ED209 (MMS012 - reviewed HERE and MMS025) but that was a long time ago and standards have improved a lot since then, hence the release of the die-cast RoboCop (pictured below and reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE) plus the battle-damaged RoboCop with Alex Murphy two-figure set (reviewed HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE). Comparison pictures also can be seen HERE and HERE.

2014 RoboCop director José Padilha avoids direct comparisons between his RoboCop and Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 film – attempting to honor the original by forging a significantly different direction for the reboot. Still, longtime fans will without question notice a few knowing nods to the 1987 film. RoboCop starts in the traditional silver / grey suit until OmniCorp CEO Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton) decides an all-black “tactical” version would make for a better “product.” After the final battle, RoboCop returns to the fan-favorite silver / grey design. And that's why I got the ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 collectible figure as I much prefer the silver and black color scheme.

Review II: ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 12.5-inch / 32 cm tall collectible figure

continued from previous toy blog post...

This second-part action figure review of ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 12.5-inch / 32 cm tall collectible figure shows off the figure with his weapons, the "TSR 66" stun gun and customized SMG / Sub-Machine Gun (heavily modified and fictional .50 caliber) as seen in the 2014 film. Alternate versions of the guns designed to fit into the left and right built-in thigh holsters are also included and covered in the first-part review posted HERE. Unlike the original 1987 RoboCop on which the film was based (a remake / reboot of the original which has become a cult classic), this updated RoboCop model carries more than one weapon and chose to steer away from the ultra-violent action which was part of the reason RoboCop was rated R: the customized Beretta Pistol (which is the "TSR 66") fires XREP taser cartridges – meaning that, in certain situations, he can take down offenders without killing them.

This reboot RoboCop has both his face and right hand kept intact to make him appear more human than robot. I question the decision to keep his hand because that would become the weak link to his new cyborg body. In the original, scientists managed to salvage Alex Murphy’s arm but OCP Executive Robert "Bob" Morton instructed them to replace it anyway – making Murphy’s face the only organic part that is still visible as RoboCop.

ThreeZero is the company officially licensed to produce and release 1/6th scale movie-related merchandise from the 2014 RoboCop film and I'm glad for that as I cannot imagine what would have happened if the license was given to Medicom Toy. I would certainly not have pre-ordered anything from Medicom as they have shown time and again that their 1/6th scale figures are underscale (undersized) and very expensive (not value-for-money). That said, one does wonder how this figure would have turned out if the license had been given to Hot Toys instead. ThreeZero's RoboCop feels more "plasticky" and toy-like in hand when compared with Hot Toys 1987 RoboCop or any of Hot Toys armored figures. I don't mean to compare it with Hot Toys die-cast figures but just to the regular MMS figures which have been given a metallic paint job. ThreeZero's paintwork, finishing and joints are just a bit off and below par when compared with Hot Toys standard. I'm still glad I got this figure, just pondering the "what ifs".

Action figure review part 1: ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 (12.5-inch) collectible figure

This is from my most recent haul (see my toy blog post HERE)

This action figure review is all about the ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop 1.0 collectible action figure from the movie of the same name. RoboCop is a 2014 American cyberpunk action film directed by José Padilha and written by Joshua Zetumer. It is a remake of the 1987 film of the same name and reboot of the RoboCop franchise. The film stars Joel Kinnaman in the title role, with Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish and Jackie Earle Haley in supporting roles. I have also reviewed the Square Enix Play Arts Kai 1/7th scale RoboCop 2014 version 1.0 action figure on my toy blog HERE, HERE and HERE. The scale may be slightly smaller in comparison for the Play Arts Kai version but the quality between the two is like East and West and definitely very different. Needless to say, 1/6th scale beats everything else in quality. Basically, one is a toy (Play Arts Kai) and the other is a collectible!

ThreeZero 1/6th scale RoboCop 1.0 details: fully articulated figure; figure stands approximately 12.5 inches (around 32cm) tall; highly detailed mechanical design; helmet features LED light-up visor; realistic paint application highlighting the details; both Stun gun and Machine gun can pop out from left and right built-in holsters; both guns can be manually extended; 3 kinds of interchangeable hands - relaxed hands, fists and gun holding hands; AG1 X 3 button cell batteries are required (batteries not included).

Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman), a police officer injured in a car bomb explosion, is chosen by OmniCorp to be outfitted with a cybernetic body and software, making him the first cyborg cop to be deployed for civilian law enforcement in the United States. The new 2014 RoboCop film (a reboot of the 1987 classic) introduces us first to the stunning RoboCop version 1.0, a look inspired by the original film, while at the same time, making the robot suit more modern and refined.

2016 1st Haul: Hot Toys Ant-Man, Kylo Ren, Tie-Fighter Pilot, Snowtrooper & ThreeZero RoboCop

I started posting my hauls on my toy blog as a record for myself of when I got these action figures so that I'll know in a later time how long the figure has been with me. After amassing action figures for so many years (about 22 years for those who are counting), it's good to be able to keep track of when they come from. Believe it or not, this is my first haul of 2016 and it's already past mid-February. Not that I'm complaining since any haul is a good haul :) With toy collecting pretty much confined to pre-orders these days, one can't help but wait till the products arrive. There is no more toy hunting at Sunday Flea Markets for deals and vintage stuff. All the recent hauls are mostly new stuff on the market.

So on the haul list for February 2016 are: Hot Toys Miniature Collectible MMS Compact Series Ant-Man on Flying Ant Collectible Figure, Hot Toys MMS320 "Star Wars: The Force Awakens: 1/6th scale KYLO REN 12-inch collectible figure, Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS324 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th scale TIE Pilot Collectible Figure, Hot Toys MMS322 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 1/6th scale First Order Snowtrooper Officer 12-inch Collectible Figure, and ThreeZero 1/6th scale 2014 RoboCop (version 1.0) 12.5-inch collectible figure

Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop (die-cast & battle damaged) comparison pictures (+ Alex Murphy)

continued from previous post...

After having reviewed both the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) - posted earlier on my toy blog HERE and HERE - and Alex Murphy Collectible Figure - Murphy reviews posted HERE and HERE, it's time to show some comparison pictures together with the earlier released Hot Toys MMS202-D04 1/6th scale Die-cast RoboCop Collectible Figure (reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE). According to the instruction sheet, the battle-damaged RoboCop parts are interchangeable with die-cast RoboCop parts. The problem is that they don't match in terms of color / texture (one looking brand new and unused while the other is purposely created to be in a bad shape after having gone through some punishment at the hands of ED-209 and the Detroit police) so I'm not sure why anyone would want to switch the parts. Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop also comes with battle damaged parts (interchangeable battle damaged helmet and interchangeable battle damaged chest armor - pictures HERE) but even those "scars" are cleaner and shinier than the latest released battle damaged RoboCop. It would have been ideal if battle damaged RoboCop came with a helmeted head instead of just the one head with exposed face sculpt of Alex Murphy (Peter Weller).

The Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) seems to have the correct color application which is movie-accurate as compared to the Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop which is too silver for my liking. There has been some debate regarding the color of RoboCop's armor in the original 1987 film vs the color of Hot Toy's die-cast RoboCop figure and I even dedicated a post regarding this issue HERE. I have seen a more accurate paint application for Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop by an amazing and talented customizer Reeve Tan of Imperial Studio. You can check out the pictures HERE, along with other stunning customized works of his. We end up paying more for a die-cast figure which has a nice hefty feel because of its heavy weight but we all know Hot Toys have the talent to paint a regular MMS figure and make it look metallic as they have done in the past - see my "Comparison pictures of Hot Toys MMS202-D04 die-cast RoboCop with HT MMS010 & MMS032 RoboCop 12-inch Collectible Figures" post HERE. I always wonder if die-cast or the extra cost is really necessary...

Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale Alex Murphy Collectible Figure from 1987 RoboCop Review IV

You can order this from Sideshow Collectibles

continued from previous post...

This is 12-inch Alex Murphy from Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) and Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set - I've already covered battle damaged RoboCop earlier on my toy blog HERE and HERE. This movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Peter Weller as Alex Murphy in his police uniform from the 1987 RoboCop film featuring a newly developed head sculpt, highly detailed costume, weapons, and accessories. Besides the incredibly authentic and detailed likeness of Peter Weller as Alex Murphy 1/6th scale head sculpt, the figure also has removable hair sculpture so as to allow him to wear his police helmet. You can check out the instructions on how to wear the helmet in the review posted on my toy blog HERE.

Hot Toys OCP Detroit Police Department Officer Alex Murphy comes with a police helmet, navy police uniform (coverall) with name tag, bullet-proof vest, watch, black belt with pouches for his flashlight and handcuffs, and holster for his pistol, plus a pair of black boots. The Movie Masterpiece Series figure comes with two pistols with removable magazines and working slides - a Heckler & Koch P9S and SIG-Sauer P226.

Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) carries the SIG-Sauer P226 in 9x19mm as his sidearm. Murphy is also shown practicing twirling his SIG-Sauer P226 on his finger. This was essential for the plot to show similarities between Murphy and RoboCop. The Heckler & Koch P9S appears to be the standard sidearm of the Detroit Police Department in the movie and Murphy is seen firing his SIG-Sauer P226 and Lewis' Heckler & Koch P9S at Boddicker's gang during their pursuit of the gang. That's probably why two pistols are provided instead of just one for the holster.

Review III: Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale Alex Murphy Collectible Figure from 1987 RoboCop

You can order this from Sideshow Collectibles

continued from previous post...

Before Peter Weller was cast, Rutger Hauer and Arnold Schwarzenegger were favored to play RoboCop by Verhoeven and the producers, respectively. However, each man's large frame would have made it difficult for either of them to move in the cumbersome RoboCop suit, which had been modeled on hockey gear and designed to be large and bulky. Weller won the role both because Verhoeven felt that he could adequately convey pathos with his lower face, and because Weller was especially lithe and could more easily move inside the suit than a bigger actor.

Even for the RoboCop reboot which was released in 2014, Joel Kinnaman who plays Detective Alex James Murphy / RoboCop was a very skinny fellow, just like Peter Weller was because physically they still had to put the RoboCop suit over his body for the close-up shots. CGI can only do so much and for the original 1987 RoboCop film, there wasn't any CGI at all as stop-motion animation was used where special effects were needed.

This is the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale Alex Murphy Collectible Figure which is part of the two-figure set which includes the battle damaged RoboCop covered earlier in my review posts on my toy blog HERE and HERE. This 1:6 scale figure has the authentic and detailed likeness of Peter Weller as Alex Murphy in his OCP police uniform as seen in the 1987 RoboCop film, with newly sculpted movie-accurate head sculpt that has facial expression with detailed wrinkles and skin texture as well as removable hair sculpture for wearing the police helmet, plus another piece of hair sculpture for placing at back of head sculpt when helmet is worn. It's all very cleverly done by Hot Toys and certainly deserves praise for their inventiveness and innovation.

Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure Review II

You can order this from Sideshow Collectibles

continued from previous post...

Having already covered the box packaging, contents and instructions of this recently released Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure from the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) and Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set - OCP Police Officer Alex Murphy will be reviewed in the NEXT post - in my first part review HERE, I wanted to share more pictures of this awesome figure with a stunning head sculpt of actor Peter Weller's human face fused with metal parts that made this 1987 RoboCop movie a cult classic and one that the 2014 RoboCop film tried to emulate. I still enjoy this original gritty version much more than the newer, cleaner CGI-laden version. The 1987 RoboCop film was created with lots of stop motion animation without any computer work because CGI (Computer-generated imagery) just wasn't available back then.

The task of creating the RoboCop suit was given to Rob Bottin. A budget of up to one million dollars was allotted to the completion of the suit, making it the most expensive item on the set. A total of six suits were made: three intact and three showing damage. According to Rob Bottin: "RoboCop looks the way he does because that's the way a man's body works! Although we went through fifty different variations, developing his character, everything came back to man-like. It's definitely a guy in the suit, which doesn't belittle it any."

Hot Toys has replicated battle damaged RoboCop in 1:6 scale with such amazing movie accuracy and likeness that it's astounding. Looking at this Movie Masterpiece Series figure in pictures, one can be forgiven for thinking that it is a screen grab or picture taken of RoboCop from the film (that's just my opinion anyway). The quality that Hot Toys has brought to the 1:6 scale figure collecting hobby has opened up the market to an ever increasing number of 12-inch figure collectors. It's no longer simply toy collecting but an adult collectible market targeted at those with the means and spending power to pay a lot more for these limited edition collectible figures. Unfortunately, prices just seem to be going up and up. If only RoboCop could put an end to this injustice.

Review 1: Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure

You can order this from Sideshow Collectibles

This is the recently released Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure from the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) and Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set which was part of my July haul - posted on my toy blog HERE.

RoboCop is a 1987 American cyberpunk action film directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. The film stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Dan O'Herlihy, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, and Ronny Cox. Set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan, in the near future, RoboCop centers on police officer Alex Murphy (Weller) who is brutally murdered by a gang of criminals and subsequently revived by the mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) as a superhuman cyborg law enforcer known as "RoboCop".

Having already released a die-cast RoboCop figure earlier this year (see my part 1 review post HERE), Hot Toys went on to release this two figures set with a battle damaged RoboCop as seen towards the end of the film where RoboCop removes his helmet to reveal the human face of Alex Murphy under the helmet. This Hot Toys Battle Damaged RoboCop collectible figure is not die-cast but still part of their Movie Masterpiece Series. It would be quite crazy to create the battle damage effect on a die-cast figure. With Hot Toys' skill in crafting, sculpting and painting, they really don't have to resort to die-cast metal parts to create the metallic look. They have been doing fine with non-metallic parts / materials as evident in their original release of RoboCop so many years ago - see my post HERE of Hot Toys MMS010 RoboCop 12-inch figure (The First / Original version) which was released in 2006.

July Haul: BD RoboCop, Alex Murphy, Secret Master, Lucius Fox, R.I.P.C., Lupo & Casshan

This is my July 2015 haul so far: Sentinel Tatsunoko Heroes Fighting Gear – "Casshan: Robot Hunter" 18cm action figure, Square Enix Play Arts Kai Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Lupo 23.5cm action figure, Art Figures AF-017 1/6th scale R.I.P.C. Rest In Peace Cowboy 12-inch figure, Virtual Toys 1/6th scale Weapon Advisor 12-inch figure, Devil Toys War of Order Volume One - The Secret Master 1/6th scale Limited Edition Collectible Figure and Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) and Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set.

Lots of goodies :) I can't wait to open these up and take pictures. Since I started this toy blog way back in July 2007 (my collection started much earlier in 1994), I haven't lost the passion for action figures. In fact, over the years, the technology and engineering that go into making these figures have improved by leaps and bounds and toy collecting is no longer an obscure and rare hobby but one which is very mainstream today, going by the number of specialty shops that have been set up just to deal with collectors who want to buy collectible figures, and the growing number of collectors who post and share pictures of their toys and figures on social media. That's a good thing because as long as there are collectors, more companies will step up and offer alternative options and more choices for collectors to pick and choose what they like. There are now so many toy and action figure companies offering so much varieties these days it's mind boggling.

Getting to know Imperial Studio, a new toy shop

Blogging has its privileges :)

I was privileged and honored to be invited to the opening of a new toy shop in Singapore. Imperial Studio is located at 111 North Bridge Road #04-32 Peninsula Plaza right in the heart of the city (open from 12noon till 8pm). Besides selling toys (and collectibles), the owners wanted a place "where toys and people come together". One of their specialties is that they are able to specialise in original customs and work with collectors' desired customs as well. And I was blown away by the customs I saw. Not only are they of the highest quality, the customised figures are innovative, creative and most affordable. The customised figures are sturdy as award winning customiser Reeve has lots of experience and won numerous accolades for his custom work. We local collectors have been waiting for this to happen for the longest time and now, Imperial Studio is finally here to make it all come true!

The picture above is the store front and right in the centre is the main display which has a 12-inch figure of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) standing. Holographic images of the various Iron Man suits are then superimposed onto Stark's body / figure and you see him being suited up in the different Iron Man armor suits we all know too well from the Iron Man films. See if you can identify the various suits that appear on the screen when you drop by the shop. Very cool display indeed and definitely worth a visit.

Go check out their facebook page HERE and LIKE it to stay updated with all the latest news.

Comparison pictures of Hot Toys MMS202-D04 die-cast RoboCop with HT MMS010 & MMS032 RoboCop 12-inch Collectible Figures

continued from previous post...

Here it is! Three different Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop 12-inch collectible figures all in one place. It's good to see how far the standards of this 1:6 scale modeling hobby (a.k.a. Playscale Miniaturism) have come in terms of sculpting and the production of 12-inch action figures. Since Hot Toys has been leading the way in innovation and design, we can also see how much they have improved over the years. Standing front and center is the latest Hot Toys released die-cast RoboCop collectible figure (MMS202D04). Behind him on the left of the picture is the original (first released) Hot Toys MMS010 RoboCop and on the right of the picture is the Hot Toys MMS032 RoboCop 3 figure with flight pack.

One of the first things you will notice is the difference in the paint application. All three are painted differently. I think Hot Toys got the colors closer to the movie version RoboCop the first time (i.e. MMS010). We also know that RoboCop got more blue by the third film, hence the colors painted on RoboCop 3. The other most obvious difference is the lower face sculpts since RoboCop doesn't really show much of his face when he's wearing his helmet. The next RoboCop to be released by Hot Toys will be the Hot Toys 1/6 RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set (previewed HERE) and that RoboCop figure will finally show the full face as seen in the ending scenes of the film.

Besides the improvement of the sculpts, thanks in part to the sculptors who have turned their hobby into a passion in order for us collectors to be able to own such realistic masterpieces, the engineering of toys and action figures has also brought the 12-inch collectible market to a whole different level. These collectible figures are now so well produced that they are truly of museum quality and are fit to be put up for display in any museum as a memorabilia or showcase of that particular movie genre. People don't call them toys anymore. They are true 1:6 scale representations of the real McCoy and as the name states - Movie Masterpieces.

Review III: Hot Toys MMS202D04 1/6th scale Battle Damaged RoboCop Collectible Figure

continued from previous post...

The RoboCop series is the latest addition to Hot Toys’ MMS Diecast Series in which the collectible figures are made of diecast material, specially designed to look more closely to the realistic RoboCop in the movie. The MMS Diecast Series brings us to the next level of authenticity, focusing on the materials, fine details and engineering of the collectible figure.

Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Diecast Series MMS202D04 1/6th scale RoboCop Collectible Figure specially features: Authentic and highly detailed fully realized likeness of RoboCop in the movie with newly sculpted and refined body with black, light grey and silver armor, interchangeable lower faces, working thigh gun holster and the ability to speak memorable quotes from the movie. RoboCop stands approximately 30 cm tall with over 25 points of articulations.

I've already covered most of this Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop collectible figure from packaging to contents earlier in my toy blog post HERE, followed by reviewing his weapons (one normal pistol and one die-cast pistol) and the famous thigh gun holster in the previous post HERE. This third part review will cover the interchangeable battle damaged helmet and interchangeable battle damaged chest armor. The weapon battle damaged RoboCop is holding in the picture is NOT included witht he figure. I just wanted to shoot RoboCop with a different gun. It's related to the movie but slightly different. Check out the details below.

Hot Toys MMS202-D04 1/6th scale die-cast RoboCop 12-inch (30 cm) Collectible Figure

continued from previous post...

“Come quietly or there will be… trouble.”

This is my second-part review of Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Die-cast Series MMS202D04 1/6th scale RoboCop Collectible Figure. After reviewing the box and its contents including the four different lower face sculpts as well as voice / sound effects activation in my first part review HERE, let's take a look at another feature synonymous with RoboCop - his hidden thigh holster.

I've posted another 28 pictures in this Part 2 review and that's not the last of them LOL There are more pictures to follow and I'm excited to share them. So far we have established that Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop has been painted in the wrong color :( He is too much silver and the blue metallic tinge is completely missing, even though it was shown in the preview pictures (posted HERE). You can also see my toy blog post "What color was RoboCop in the original 1987 film? Let's take a look at some screen grabs" HERE for comparison pictures between the movie RoboCop and this Hot Toys version.

Other than that, this is still a GREAT piece by Hot Toys and a work of ART in terms of the realistic sculpt (what little is seen of it), amazing details of the armor and the clever engineering to get the maximum articulation from a rather stiff, bulky and cumbersome object (let's face it, RoboCop was not designed to be agile).

Peter Weller had hired Moni Yakim, the head of the Movement Department at Juilliard, to help create an appropriate way for him to move his body while wearing the RoboCop suit. He and Moni had envisioned RoboCop moving like a snake, dancing around and moving very elusively. The suit, however, proved to be too heavy and cumbersome. Instead, at the suggestion of Moni, it was decided that they would slow down RoboCop's movements in order to make them more appealing and plausible. Filming stopped for three days, allowing Peter and Paul Verhoeven to discuss new movements for the suit.

Hot Toys MMS202-D04 1/6th scale die-cast RoboCop 12-inch (30 cm) Collectible Figure has stayed true to form and is undoubtably the closest thing to the real McCoy i.e. the movie RoboCop you are ever going to get. The die-cast feature gives this RoboCop a hefty feel and makes him rather heavy. The good thing is the joints are good and tight and RoboCop doesn't fall over easily. It's a very nice redo except for the paint job and I can't wait to add Battle Damaged RoboCop with the new head sculpt showing his full face (RoboCop unmasked) & Police Officer Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) collectible figures to this. Check out the preview pictures HERE.

What color was RoboCop in the original 1987 film? Let's take a look at some screen grabs.

There has been some debate regarding the color of RoboCop's armor in the original 1987 film vs the color of Hot Toy's die-cast RoboCop figure. If you were to open my part 1 review post in my toy blog HERE in one window on your computer screen and another window of this post for a side-by-side comparison, you will be able to see how far off the color of Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop figure is.

What I've done is to post screen grabs of RoboCop from the 1987 film for color comparisons. The color disparity does not make me like Hot Toys RoboCop any less. I still like the Hot Toys die-cast RoboCop and IMHO it's the best 1:6 scale RoboCop ever produced. My only gripe is that Hot Toys didn't get the color right. RoboCop was never so silver in color as Hot Toys has done. He was a more grayish blue tinge.

For the 1987 RoboCop film, the suit's color was supposed to be bright blue; however, it was given a more grayish tint to make it look more metallic and produce less glare on the camera when it was being filmed. Hot Toys has gone the opposite direction with their die-cast RoboCop color by making him really silver as seen in my earlier post "Review 1: Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Diecast Series 1/6th scale RoboCop Collectible Figure" posted HERE

Review 1: Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Diecast Series 1/6th scale RoboCop Collectible Figure

Part Man. Part Machine. All Cop.

RoboCop is a 1987 American science fiction action film directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. The film stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Dan O'Herlihy, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, and Ronny Cox. Set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan, in the near future, RoboCop centers on police officer Alex Murphy (played by Peter Weller) who is brutally murdered by a gang of criminals and subsequently revived by the malevolent mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) as a superhuman cyborg law enforcer known as "RoboCop".

The character of RoboCop itself was inspired by British comic book hero Judge Dredd, as well as the Marvel Comics superhero Rom. A Rom comic book appears onscreen during the film's convenience store robbery. Another Rom comic appears in a flashback of Murphy's son.

This is Hot Toys' remake of the classic robot / cyborg character, having previously produced and released at least three versions of RocoCop (MMS010, MMS026 and MMS032) and two versions of ED209 (MMS012 and MMS025), all featured in the 2010 issue of "Figure King" magazine celebrating Hot Toys 10th Anniversary. You can check out my toy blog post HERE.

Hot Toys decided to go with die-cast materials in re-releasing an all new RoboCop figure and with all the advancements in technology and skill sets, has produced a much improved version of RoboCop that looks and feels much better than the original versions.

February 2015 Haul: Hot Toys RoboCop, E&S Deathridge, R2-D2 & Lego Lone Ranger + Tonto

This is my haul so far for February 2015 :)

From the left: E&S USA exclusive Z.E.R.T. (Zombie Eradication Response Team) 1:6th scale Jameson YoungBlood Deathridge 12-inch Action Figure (big thanks to Sam if you are reading this for helping me get this exclusive figure), Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Diecast Series MMS202D04 1/6th scale RoboCop Collectible Figure, Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars R2-D2 Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure (Sideshow Exclusive version), and Lego The Lone Ranger and Tonto mini figures (not shown in the main picture). I'm glad for my haul but among these figures I got, the best piece would have to be Hot Toys RoboCop because I didn't pre-order him but got him at a very good price instead. I'll explain why later.

The Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Diecast Series MMS202D04 1/6th scale RoboCop Collectible Figure is actually the fourth RoboCop figure to be released by Hot Toys, although it is the first die-cast version. The three earlier versions of RocoCop were MMS010, MMS026 and MMS032, all released very much earlier in Hot Toys line-up of figures (and posted in my toy blog too. Just click on the "RoboCop" label to view the posts).
