Comparison pictures of OE Killer Instinct Righter with Sam, Princess Jun, Vis Eris, Raiden & Boom

continued from previous post...

Having done a two-part review of the recently released Original Effect OE Killer Instinct series 1/6 scale Righter 13.5" tall female action figure HERE and HERE, I think it's a good time to do comparison shots of OE Killer Instinct Righter with OE Killer Instinct Sam. After all, they are both supposed to be from the same series and yet they both look so different from each other in terms of uniform / outfit. Killer Instinct Sam looks rather rugged as if she lives in a post-apocalyptic world whereas Killer Instinct Righter looks like she came from a sci-fi futuristic world. Whatever it is, I like them both :) from their anime / manga looking stylized female head sculpts to their different outfits. I actually prefer this series to OE's original Army Attractive series of which 1/6 scale Viola female action figure was the first. Check out my review HERE and HERE.

It's funny how when I first started my toy collecting hobby which then transcended to 1/6 scale action figures, I never thought I would be collecting 12-inch female figures. Looks like I have quite a few of them in my collection now. And OE's female figures are not even 12 inches tall but taller at 13 inches (without heels). With the heels added, they are 13.5 inches tall which makes them giants in the 1/6 scale world.

Scroll down to see the comparison pictures of OE Killer Instinct Righter with Sam, Princess Jun, Vis Eris, Raiden & Boom. Not sure who they are? Well, you just have to check them out. Click on them for bigger and better views.

Takara Cool Girl 1/6th scale Gatchaman G3 Jun the Swan CyGirl 12-inch female action figure

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (科学忍者隊ガッチャマン Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman) is a 5-member superhero team that is composed of the main characters in several Japanese anime created by Tatsuo Yoshida and originally produced in Japan by Tatsunoko Productions and later adapted into several English-language versions. It is also known by the abbreviated name Gatchaman.

The original series, produced in 1972, was eponymously named Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman and is most well known to the English-speaking world as the adaptation titled Battle of the Planets. The title is unofficially called G-Force (not to be confused with the subsequent 1980s English-language adaptation of Gatchaman, known as G-Force: Guardians of Space). Tatsunoko also uses the official translation Science Commando Gatchaman, as shown in numerous related products and media. [source: wiki]

Best described as a science fiction action anime, recurring themes of Gatchaman involve conservation of nature, environmentalism, and responsible use of technology for progress and advancement. The series is centered around five young superhero ninja in the employ of Dr. Kōzaburō Nambu of the fictitious International Science Organization to oppose an international terrorist organization of technologically advanced villains, known as Galactor, from trying to take control of the Earth's natural resources.

Have a ULTRA Happy Valentine's Day (^_~)

This is a re-post since today is Valentine's Day :) and it's appropriate

First posted on February 14, 2009
Today is Valentine's Day and this is for my lovely wife Daisy who has been my most loyal supporter forever. Since we both don't buy into the commercial practice of paying many many times more for something that is already dying (the flower just doesn't know it yet) and which usually cost a lot less at other times (a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose except on Valentine's when it can cost you an arm and a leg), this seems more meaningful in a weird kind of way. (I mean no disrespect to all those who did purchase flowers for their better half as I believe it's a sweet thing to do, it's just personal between the wife and me.)

So what did you do for that special someone today?

Maximal Lio Convoy OR Leo Prime

Lio helped me celebrate our nation's birthday (see my post HERE) so he gets to have his own entry :)

Lio Convoy is a Maximal from the Beast Era portion of the Generation 1 continuity family. He is also known as Leo Prime.

Taking place in "the seventh month of Space Year 1999", we learn that while Optimus Primal and Megatron fight their Beast War on planet Energoa, another Beast War has erupted on a strange planet, where a Maximal space patrol has had a run-in with platoon of Predacons who are in search of "The King of Angolmois". Leo Prime is a Maximal commander, who leads The Pack.

Beast Wars II Lio Convoy (Leo Prime) toy produced by Takara Japan in 1998. Jared (my eldest son, now 16) had been collecting Beast Wars toys from a very young age when the animated TV series was being shown on the television and this is just one of those that he has outgrown. We still keep it for sentimental reasons.

Lio Convoy transforms into an organic white lion articulated at the legs and head. The button on top of his head opens his beast-mode jaw.

Girls just wanna have FUN!

Since ZC Rosanna has lost her ride to Bruce Wayne (see previous post), she has to join the other girls in the display cabinet without her bike. So here are just some random 1/6 girls taking time out for a shot :)

ZC Sexy Kelly - more pictures HERE

Moon Girl Urika Gagarin - full review HERE

Takara's CG-13 "Eris" from the Violent Interception Squad (VIS) - link HERE for more pictures. I just love the whole RoboCop look about her, including the ED209 inspired helmet. Take a look at Hot Toys exceptional RoboCop figures - RoboCop 1 HERE and RoboCop 3 HERE. And then there's the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece 1/6 scale ED209 full review HERE.

Takara CG Harley - more of her HERE

Funny thing is, when I first started collecting 1/6 action figures way back then, I stayed clear of dolls because I didn't want anything to do with Barbie but over the years, I've accumulated quite a fair amount of 1/6 scale female figures (enough to have their own label), including some Barbies even - Barbie turned 50 this year. Not bad for an old hag - see my post "Plastic is Fantastic!!" HERE

Takara Combat Joe WWII German Infantryman

The initial release of Combat Joe in March 1984 by Takara consisted of three 1/6 scale 12-inch figures: the World War II-era American and German Soldiers, and a modern American Soldier. Takara's aim was to give their figures as realistic a look as possible, so each of these figures wore very accurate recreations of their uniforms.

This was Takara's World War II Wehrmacht (German Army) uniform which was definitely more accurate and better than GI Joe's or Action Man's versions.

The German Stahlhelm helmet and tunic with the Hoheitsabzeichen ("National Badge" which was an eagle symbol) worn on the right breast of the uniform.

The German tunic details and belt with buckle. The buttons are a tad big but this was the closest to 1/6 scale then.

Takara Combat Joe World War II German soldier's trousers and marching boots or jackboots

The basic figure came with a Takra Combat Joe body of course. In fact Takara created two different heads for the Combat Joe figures, a brown-haired head for the two Americans and a blond for the German.

To arm these figures, there were the rifles of the Small Arms Collection, including a Thompson submachine gun for the WWII American, an MP40 SMG for the German and an M-16 assault rifle for the modern American soldier. These rifles were actually more akin to snap-together model kits than toys. Colored in silver plastic, these rifles could be easily built, and included features like removable ammo cartridges, cloth shoulder straps, and even a movable shoulder stock on the "Schmeisser". Though the rifles could be used as they were, Takara included painting instructions like those found in model kits to help collectors make these rifles look more realistic.

Included in the German MP40 SMG weapon model kit were german stick grenades

While the figures were fairly complete as they came from the box, the Accessory Collection gear Takara offered for the two American soldiers and the German soldier could be used to upgrade the figures by rounding them out with web gear, water canteen, ammo pouches, gas masks, shovels and the like.

The upgraded Takara 1/6 scale 12-inch World War II-era German Infantryman

Another look at the eagle or "National Badge" symbol

I added the signaling torch as well. The colored slide buttons on the actual torch allowed red, blue or green acetate strips to be pushed up over the lens.

Amazing details on the belt buckle bearing the traditional Prussian motto "GOTTMITUNS" ('GOD WITH US') around the endorsed wing eagle and swastika emblem.

He also has the Infantry Assault badge and Iron Cross medal on his left breast pocket. Would have been nice if these were not are just decals but die-cast metal badges instead. Also shown is the MP40 triple-magazine pouch which goes with the MP40 (only Takara got it right where GI Joe and Action Man erred in this area).

The full kit of the basic WWII German Infantryman/soldier. It was from this set that I decided to upgrade my earlier Action Man German Stromtroopers.

Takara Combat Joe WWII German soldier is equipped with entrenching tool in leather carrier which also confines the M1884-98 Mauser bayonet and keeps it in place. He also has the M1930 gasmask canister which can be opened. He also has two M1924 hand grenades or stick grenades tucked into his marching boots or jackboots.

For his meals, he has his M1931 breadbag, mess tin and water bottle

Takara's Combat Joe WWII German soldier even has his gasmask with screw-on filter which could fit inside the canister - quite a feat for that time

The fully decked out Takara Combat Joe WWII German Infantryman

The very nice MP40 submachine gun with great details and foldable butt stock. This was one of the finest SMGs to appear during the war and was eagerly sought after by soldiers of both sides.

Takara Kerberos Tetsorou Kai Preview

Takara's next 1/6 scale 12-inch Kerberos Panzer Cop figure is Tetsorou Kai. This figure is looking mighty fine!! He is supposed to be a millitary officer from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) as opposed to police. Kai has fantastic armor as can be expected from Takara and will have cool accessories including stick grenades attached to his leg armor, a luger pistol and the PzB 39 anti-tank rifle.

Panzerbüchse PzB 39 anti-tank rifle. Panzerbüchse is the German term for anti-tank rifle used in World War II. Literally it means 'tank rifle'.

Check out this link for all the Kerberos Panzer Cops in my collection

Ultra Guard Line Yup (U-G-L-Y)

Okay, it's real lame but it's just for fun :D seeing as how the names were thought up for the various organizations - MAT (Monster Attacking Team), TAC (Terrible monster Attacking Crew) and ZAT (Zariba of All Territory). After covering the various members so far, it's time for group shots.

Here's all of them together. Surprisingly, Medicom produced these figures with varying heights, with Hideki Go from MAT being the tallest, followed by TDF UG's Dan Moroboshi, TAC member Seiji Hokuto and Anne Yuri of TDF UG (Terrestrial Defense Force Ultra Guard) the shortest.

Close-up shots of Hideki, Seiji and Anne Yuri

The two Dans (Dan Moroboshi from TDF UG) and two Takara CG gals

5 Star's Dan Moroboshi flanked by Akiko Fuji (SSSP) and Anna Yuri. Height and size-wise, these three look better together.
